THE SIGHT & THE SOUND 4/6 : Bouraq Indonesia HS-748 PK-IHV inflight documentary from Lombok to Bali

- This inflight documentary features the 23 minute short return flight onboard the legendary Hawker Siddeley HS-748 from Mataram (Lombok island) to Denpasar (Bali), one week later. This flight was part of a trip with my family to Indonesia in March 1998.
Yet, my brand new SHARP camera broke down frequently, not to mention the batteries. This camera was the first generation of video cameras with digital recording. Obviously the digital recording technology 18 years ago was still at an experimental stage. The video head got worn out immediately. After a few seconds the camera turned hot and taping was interrupted, especially during the most important phases of taping : Take off and landing. Eighteen years later, I tried to assemble the fractions of this puzzle of video fragments as best as I could.
This is the result. This trip is also the last time I had "the pleasure" to use this disastrous camera.

Jadi ingat terakhir kali naik Bouraq HS748 rute Manado - Davao. Dua kali gagal take-off, kembali ke gate. Pesawat di perbaiki 2 jam dan take-off lagi. Kira2 10 menit kemudian pilot putar balik karena kerusakan mesin. Pendaratan mulus tapi pesawat keluar runway nyaris masuk parit. Pengalaman tak terlupakan. Tak berapa lama kemudian armada rute ini diganti ke jenis Boeing 737-200.

Pesawat Bouraq HS 748 ini adalah pesawat langganan ayahku tahun 1980 an saat beliau berdinas di Banjarmasin, sebulan sekali pulang ke Juanda Sidoarjo. Ayah berlangganan di Pasopati Travel Jalan Urip Sumoharjo Sby, harga tiket Rp 40.000 sekali terbang Juanda ke Syamsuddin Noor.

Saya naik PK-IHV ini tahun 1984 kala itu kelas 2 SMP dari Bandar Udara Supadio PNK (Pontianak) ke Bandar Udara Kemayoran JKT (Jakarta). Pilot nya waktu itu kak Kiki Sanarki (alumnus Curuq). Ketinggian terbang di 3.000 kaki. Itu pertama kali saya naik pesawat udara. Hmm 3 hari baru bisa hilang itu desing di telinga. hehehe.
Kalau lihat latar belakang bukit bukit di awal video, sepertinya ini bandara Lombok yg lama. Rute Bouraq waktu itu Lombok - Denpasar, Maumere / Wangiapu, Kupang
Betul....bandara selaparang - lombok....
Ini cabin crew nya siapa ya? Kok mirip temen angkatanku..masya Allah kenangan banget..jaman awal Masuk bouraq thn 93(jd cabin Crew) msh sempat pake oesawat ini..indahnya nano nano..manis pahit..happy pastinya keseluruhan..love you Bouraq...masa remajaku banyak di sini,sampai akhirnya resign krn menikah...
