Totally agree. And now pretty much extinct sadly.

I love the old style prop aircraft. There are still a lot of them babies flying today. I can also understand getting the cargo delivered as fresh as possible

Actually, quite the opposite there are very few of these still flying .. maybe just one or two examples here in Canada l. I don’t even know if that is accurate. The type is pretty much extinct.

Indeed, I completely agree. It’s too bad that there aren’t very many HS748s still flying on planet earth in the year 2024.

I always loved 4-bladed turbo props like the RR Dart and Alison 250. They made a very comforting hum at full speed. 6-blade props don't make that comforting sound.

I love the Dart sounds too. When I worked in Yellowknife in the 1990s I used to live and savour the First Air HS748 action every day. My office was at the airport with a view to the terminal building.

Lived in Moosonee from January 1976 to June 1980 while working for the MNR. Back in the day it was Austin Airways who had the HS748 fleet.

Tried to observe the sound of HEIU (60 Sparks per minute 😂😂😂) while starting of Stbd Engine. But the ground crew stalled my mission while trying to put the ladder in through the CFD.

Yep!!...I grew up in Grenada and we called them ‘the Avros’. Cool airplane. Replaced by the ‘Dash-8’ and now the next gen ATR (if that dam company isn’t out of business yet...:-/)

Yea man I remember when them 'Avro LIAT' birds used to fly in and out of our old airport ET Joshua in St. Vincent. Memories of growing up in St. Vincent next to the airport. Sweet sound of RR Darts.

@@citysoundfm The Hawker Siddeley HS 748 is a medium-sized turboprop airliner originally designed and initially produced by the British aircraft manufacturer Avro. It was the last aircraft to be developed by Avro prior to its absorption by Hawker Siddeley.

Some very amusing comments here guys .. !! Sorry I was not able to film coffee cups. Doug was somewhat camera shy. It was not easy to motivate him to appear on film .. so I am grateful for his making an appearance! I think he was none to sad to me depart for good with my video cameras!!
