I'm not a fan of electric cars, and much prefer ICE vehicles. But even I have to admit how impressive it was to see how the Teslas held up quite well all things considered. At the end of the day we're talking about 5,000 pound family cars giving 1,300 hp exotics a solid run. Impressive no matter how you look at it. Going back to the early 2000's could any of us have imagined family sedans cutting low 9 second 1/4 mile times? lol

As far as quarter mile time is concerned, it hits the quarter mile on average from 9.2 - 9.4 seconds depending on which track it's on among other factors. Wow, you're batting 0% today Rob.

Well, that's not a question anymore. Maybe you should check the stats. The new superchargers that are out charge electric vehicles just as fast as petrol cars.
@@ranman7729 No, they can't. Been there, done that. I can pump 15 gallons in less than 5 minutes. You will not go from 5% to 100% in 5 minutes with any SC. Further, it does no damage to my car to often "charge" this quickly. Try this on a daily basis with a Tesla and find out. People using them commercially can tell you all about it.
@@randyduncan795 Ah a moron. So most people do not full charge 5-100%, most of the time you charge at 5-10% to around 85-90% max. Although most of the time you only charge to like 40-60% depending on the next super charger location/how far you're going. It takes anywhere between 10-15 mins to full charge to 85-90, you can definitely say "gas only takes 5 minutes" but you're forgetting you walk in and pay or get snacks as well.. so on average you stop probably 7-20 minutes at a gas station. tesla: you stop and charge then get your food/snacks all in that 15 minutes. It's about the same. Unless you never eat or get snacks then sure, a fill up is probably faster.. Also I didn't even mention wait times at a highway gas station, it can take 5-10+ minutes just to get to an open pump.. or that 5-10+ mins finding a gas station that isn't full. Tesla chargers: there's usually 7-20+ chargers at a station and less than 3 people per charger.. (i'm using super chargers, not standard chargers.. if we used the standard non tesla chargers, yeah it's garbage.. the infrastructure is trash.. takes like an hour to charge with only 4 chargers that you're sharing.. and half don't work or are unoptimized) If you're using a tesla though it's not a big deal, quick and easy 15 minute charge max.

@@volvot6rdesignawd702 fair enough, but there's no such a thing as "non stock EV", there's literally no aftermarket tuning parts for them. What are you going to tune in the EV actually? Suspension, and software maybe. Tuning is one of the biggest pros of ICE cars above the EVs.

Im a model s guy and I don’t believe these model s plaids are full throttling these other cars the new model s has 0-60 in 2.9 seconds so idk what they are racing even still im never salty about it. I think ice car owners show way more hostility and shade towards us.

Plaids are very fast off the line. you said 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, but most of the time these guys are doing 1/8 mile , and that is longer than 2.9 seconds. Often times above 10.

As a Model S Plaid owner, I enjoyed this. That m340i and Supra were BEASTS. Oval track was an older P-something (not a plaid) and so were the highway racers Model 3 long range and Performance, which can be beat by a stock Coyote / 392 60-130...They're the reason I upgraded to a Plaid, lol!
I was so excited about the electric potential. Batteries need to come a long way still. Cars are to heavy. Also it costs just as much to charge as filling a small pick up. Takes to long for full charge too. I do like my electric chain saw🤘🏻😎
@@randyteresi7284 The ONLY reason I've driven Teslas the last 4 years is because it's WAY cheaper than fuel, they're way more dependable, and they're much better on road trips. Yup, I bought them specifically for my biweekly 800+ miles worth of road trips.
Autopilot is the most trustworthy lane-centering, which reduces fatigue A LOT.
For a 450 mile roundtrip in the Plaid I take 15-25 minutes of charging, depending on if I drive 78mph or 85-90 mph. Obviously 90 mph = more charging. Older, 2018/19 and older S and X, take FOREVER! But I still recommend them if you mostly run around town and charge at home bc you'll never need a supercharger.
The '20 Model 3P and '22 Model YP used to take 20-35 minutes for the run. It takes 17 minutes to go to the bathroom, build a hot dog, choose a drink, and checkout. Then I get to watch a 5 minute CZcams video / return a text, walk the dog.
Then, when I'm home, I NEVER have to wait in the line at Costco for the cheapest gas. I just plug up every 3-4 days or so at night, wake up to a full tank. Costs me $7-$11 a tank. I go to Sam's only for the Brisket. People spend more time there each week than I do on my trips charging.
The "take forever to charge" stereotype is not relevant to Teslas, as they charge quickly. On longer trips you'll charge every 200 miles or so after the first 250-300 miles. I don't know many people who drive more than 500 miles regularly one way. The first charging is done at home, while you sleep.
I don't know anyone who's ever paid to replace a Tesla battery. When they have replaced them, they've been on older models, with older battery tech. My Plaid has 49,900 miles and still reads 343 of 348 miles (21' wheels) when fully charged. The degradation is on par with studies, at 3%, according to the maintenance menu. Meaning it will go 300k plus likely, which is expected of the newer (2020+) battery tech cars. I don't, however, recommend any other EV for traveling because the charging networks aren't as good as Tesla. I'd much prefer an Audi over my Teslas, as the interiors just aren't very "luxury".
I say this as I search for it's replacement, to be honest. I miss having a track car so I'm going back to an M3 or an X5 w/ a Supra or Miata again. But the Plaid has been an EXCELLENT tool. Also, I think the Plaid is ridiculously fast and I will get arrested one day if I keep driving it on empty interstates. :) I love my electric chainsaw too!

When people ask I tell them that my old M3P was the best Tesla: fast, great driving dynamics, and you can see out of the back window unlike the other Teslas (the Y is okay too, not as good dynamically).

I don't reckon people stop to think, people who are attracted to electric cars are far from sporty drivers no matter how much they get carried away with the electric cars are actually quicker fact. Yes, it's a fact- these are electric family cars with walter mitty types competing against factory drag race cars, supercars, and custom built racing cars with experienced drivers. Swap the drivers over, a week to familiarise, and see which car wins. It'll be an all electric win day at the strip. And if you think I'm biased, I am- I'd rather take a ride in a Hellcat than own 10 teslas anyday. You can't drag race a tesla all day, a tesla will never win LeMans unless they make a quick change battery.

Additionally, I want to choose the areas in which I develop. The reality is that an ICE has virtually unlimited range. A few minutes at a petrol station and your good to go. Tesla, book a room at a Hotel while it charges.

Teslas are fast out of the box but you cannot mod them. I have owned many modified cars in my life but the Model 3 Performance beats them all. The Plaid is even faster than the my car. I would still take an ICE car over a Tesla as my dream car.

I own both EV and ICE. I have to say the mechanical sound of ICE is irreplaceable but efficiency-wise EV will always be on top.
