    I don't drive a Tesla but like watching these videos because the cameras catch all the details. I'm impressed with how sturdy they are, how they never seem to flip, and they keep the occupants safe. I've noticed that Teslas hydroplane during heavy rain and that they often times are totaled. I assume the parts are so expensive, so it doesn't take much to be considered totaled. I wonder why they hydroplane so often. Whenever it rains heavy where I live, there is this section where the interstate changes into three heavily trafficked interstates and there are always crashed right there in the rain. Last two times it rained, I witnessed a Tesla spin out and crash into another car and hit the Jersey wall at high speeds. I assumed he was driving too fast, but maybe he wasn't. The other time, I saw a Tesla that had just recently crashed right before I passed, but it hydroplaned and hit the same Jersey wall head on and no other cars were involved. These are just two random incidents out of many that happens there when it rains. I've seen cars of all types crashed there during rain. It's probably because there is a dip from one of the interstates where it goes up into an overpass. Water probably accumulates there causing these wrecks.

    • @ReasonX3
      @ReasonX3 Před 10 měsíci +2

      I think the problem might in tires. I don't know what sort of tires are installed by default on Teslas, but hydroplaning means that wheels can't "dig out" all the water under them. Either the tire protector isn't good enough for rain conditions or people just drive too fast and aggressively.

    I don't know the law where Jalon lives, but where I am, it's that if the lights go from green to yellow you stop unless it is unsafe to do so. There was clearly plenty of time to stop. That doesn't absolve the other driver of responsibility, but everybody has a duty to avoid dangerous situations, and going through yellow lights does not help. As it is, the light turned red as he crossed the line, and that is irresponsible driving.

      Idk the laws in all states, but it's crazy it seems to mean "Proceed with caution" many places, when in Europe, yellow means "Stop if safe to do so". The moment the light turns red the intersection should be entirely empty. Many lights in America has very very long yellow and red lights, and people run it multiple seconds after, it's crazy.
      The mentality of "Knew he had time to make it" is so stupid. Jalon should have stopped like half a mile before. Like the black car in the right lane is probably just about the cutoff of where you should have stopped instead of kept going. I would 100% have blamed Jalon for that crash to be honest. You even see him floor it when he sees the yellow light, and still manage to run a complete red light. Very stupid driving, could have killed someone.

      I’m going on month five on waiting for parts for my Chevy with still no estimated delivery date in sight. Thankfully they don’t effect my ability to safely drive, but still. It’s not just Tesla with issues supplying parts or even whole vehicles.

      @@laurakate84 It has been quite a while since I last had an accident, but in all cases I was involved in one my car got repaired in 3 or 4 days. That included "waiting for parts".

      @@laurakate84 Not going to call BS on your story because I don't know what parts you are waiting for, but my Chevy has been hit twice and repairs, with repaint took less than 2 weeks. Sorting out payment and paperwork with the insurance company took far longer than the repairs themselves. I also owned other brands, and I've never had to wait for parts for more than a few days. But I do hear Tesla owners constantly complaining about waiting months and months for even the simplest repairs. It's a constant given with Tesla and an outlier/rarity with other companies. Not to mention a repair estimate of over $20,000 for what looks like a destroyed rear bumper and some underlying bumper structure seems obscene. It's almost like they're designed to be disposable after even the smallest accident.

    • @laurakate84
      @laurakate84 Před 2 lety

      @@ganymede3141 Have any of your repairs been within the last year and a half? Prior to mid 2020 I had the same kind of experience as you stated. Now there is a backlog of everything. Parts and vehicles. One part is the reservoir for wiper fluid and the others are cosmetic parts for the interior. Nothing vital thank God, but still. Much different from any other experience prior to 2020.
      A lot of cars of all makes are being totalled now for seemingly minor things. A big part of that is even salvage prices are through the roof. So insurance companies will pay less to call a car a complete loss and sell it for parts than to repair it. That is more true when you factor in potentially having to pay the inflated rental car rates for an extended amount of time. All cars are effected right now. But most people don’t really realise it unless they have the misfortune of having to deal with it first hand.
      All electric cars are literally built different than traditional ICE cars. So the same accident on the same part of the cars will result in different damage severities under what we can see. Insurance companies are hesitant to authorise repairing batteries for one things. So one potentially damaged cell will call for a whole new battery. That’s just one example.
      There are also far fewer body shops that meet the standard requirements for authorised repairs. So you have the compounded issue of few parts and fewer people who can repair them. The people who can repair them also charge more. And rightfully so because honestly it does require a whole different type of skill set than traditional body shops.
      Teslas weren’t on most people’s radar until the last few years. Just in time for all parts of the economy to go crazy. Including cars. So a “normal” experience hasn’t been possible for many of the people complaining.

    Advice to people based on the first clip: Pass big vehicles quickly, and spend as little time as possible near them. I see drivers matching speed with semi trucks and staying beside them for miles. Personally, I try to limit my proximity to vehicles weighing 20 or more times mine. 10:20 So Marcel doesn't pay attention, is slow to react, and then can't make an avoidance maneuver without losing control of his car. OK. The only reason the decision went his way is because the truck driver used the turn signal *after* he had already begun the lane change, instead of well before.

    As a former driver trainer up here in northern Canada 🇨🇦 most of these accidents were preventable.. seems to me drivers think because they drive under the speed limit during bad weather they should be fine 😂 your speed should always be dictated by the road/weather/time of day or night & traffic conditions..
    learn to read the road further than your front bumper 😂…
    been driving professionally since 1979.. drove over 700thousand miles without a single accident .. drove US & Canadian interstates from Maine to Cali🇺🇸 & PEI to Vancouver 🇨🇦 in blizzards etc etc..
    start driving defensively.. just because the light is green doesn’t mean you should just “Zoom” through 😂
