- Other than the first drive this is my absolute favorite day of the build. It is such a great feeling every time to take a pile of tubes and see what becomes of it. To make it clear, this same chassis will be built two ways, 1st as a hard tail, then with a 4 link or trailing arm suspension. Please comment on your expectations of the setup, and remember this is the budget build.

Wow are one of the most humble guys out therebin this field
I LIKE THE FACT THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO TEACH AND SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE WITH OTHER PEOPLE KNOWLEDGE IS POWER MY FRIEND I have the same nature as you I was A pipewelder and pipiefitter for 28yrs before my ATV accident 05/06/2018 my life changed forced to retire from pipe Trade to doing nothing enjoy watching your videos very educational and inspiring to do a Kross Cart watched your custom IRS videos part 1&2. THANK YOU I WAS ON A 700 RAPTOR WHEN I WRECKED ON PAVED ROAD I Died 3 times in front of my wife and daughter then ended up in trauma icu in coma for 3 months broke all my ribs on left side in two places left collar bone and all bones in my face and TBI with right side of skull having to be removed and then after healing had synthetic plate installed to repair skull to protect Brain. Still enjoy mechanical projects to see and challenge my thoughts and processes in my head. I used to build 4x4 trucks with my youngest son that is 25yrs old now oldest son is 31yrs old now daughter is 15yrs old now. I had built a 45' X 60' shop at home 4 bay garage was big in building cars & trucks before accident have welding machines and exhaust bender my family gave me and Ac evacuation system they used to own Whitton Radiators and exhaust in Augusta Ga.
Awesome job!!!!!! 👍👍So glad I found your videos
I would like to say thank you for the great plans . Everything you show on these video is bang on . I got the jig done and bent the first tube, and as per your instructions it all works excellent . Again thank you from frosty Ontario Canada.
Yes sir. Thank you so much! The motivation for the plans and the videos was always the builders. I hope you get your build running for when the nice weather comes!
You have my imagination on physical over drive. Everyone of your videos just gets the excitement to the next level.
Thanks man! This is an awesome compliment as it is exactly what I was trying to do 👍
Dude how due you not have 6. Some mil subscribers.. you tell it so good bro man .. thank you so much
I honestly have no idea!!! I keep plugging away though since there are guys building them and future builds just waiting to find my channel. Thanks man, what an awesome comment 🤜🤛
First off, thank you for your service Sir!
Secondly, if you don’t already have any made, take this as an idea that you could maybe make a buck or two to help support your channel.
So I’d love to have a couple of stickers of your logo to put on my cart when it’s done, and maybe one on my helmet as well. Just a thought!
Again thank you Sir for what you do!
Even though it's not in-depth, it is still informative. Thanks for the vids, they're great.
I did in-depth videos for the 100hp crosskart. There is so much good info on the channel if you want more in depth 👍
Awesome build
your welds are much better than when you started out.
Thank you, same to you 😁
I love this build :) thank you :)
8:12 moment arm! Immediately felt like I was back at lackland training to be a loadmaster again!
Been a Loadmaster for 15 years 👍
I absolutely enjoy every video you put out ! I am only 5' 2" so I don't need the extended length but the tips are invaluable.
Thank you! You can stretch it if you like the look or want better straight line performance. I love the short wheelbase for drifting and super fast turn in.
Привет! Очень крутое видео, отлично, что ты так подробно рассказываешь обо всех нюансах постройки. Надеюсь, когда-нибудь я построю подобный проект.
Удачи в работе! А я буду с нетерпением ждать новые видео.
I enjoyed this a ton dude. Thanks so much for putting these videos together!
There are so many happy VF-1 builders out there! I’m really glad I did these too. Thank you so much 👍
Looks great!
This one came out great, can’t wait to tear up the yard with it 😁
Great video, I like the modifications made to the Jig for assembly. I just got the steel to start on my Jig this week. Engines I'm using...First, build Predator 500 12.5:1 compression. Second, build using my GSXR 1000 K6 Engine. Both with a Mazda drivetrain. and JD's Garage Center Carrier.
font forget to leave a like
That sounds like a stellar plan. Both are going to be very enjoyable in different ways 🦾
This is awesome!
Thank you!
Just what I need, an extended version for my 6'5" frame. Lol
There will have to be some tall person testing to show if the three inches is perfect. I had a buddy that’s 6’4” roll the black one which is tighter than the other two with zero injury. I’ll have him roll this one too and see if it checks out.
Great build thanks for the tip and videos on the bender. Looking forward to build something like this. like the 3” stretch also
You can actually build this… plans in the description 👍
I love every step of ur project, well done brother.
Thank you very much, sir. I really appreciate that.
You should make your own emblem for the karts
I couldn’t agree more, but may need some help in that department. I’m good with mechanicals, not good with “fashion”.
15:59 was epic, looks like it might be time to turn it up to "D" 🤣 but seriously you're projects and content are spot on. I commented months ago that a Predator based engine will make this so much more obtainable to a someone new to fabrication and/or a limited budget. Good stuff man good stuff 👍
I’ve tried it on D but it feels more consistent on C. Probably because it’s only on 110. I’ve driven these karts with them just tacked together so I know they’ll hold. I really hope the 420 is a decent kick in the pants, I hate to have to put two of them on there… or would I???
@@KJRaycingHey Man, with a cvt it's all in the clutch springs, mostly the drive clutch on the motor. If you create more stall speed with a bigger spring it will make it seem snapper out of the hole but too much will kill your lower speed drive ability. The driven clutch wants to just keep the motor in its power band. And just a heads up... always keep a spare belt and tools to swap it out on the machine. Ask me how I know 🤦♂️
hell yeah brother
👍🖖
Ever thought of doing paddle shifter on the steering wheel
Nope 😉. I’ve been a huge fan of rally racing since I was young (pure 80’s and 90’s rally), so I always wanted that lever that controls a sequential gearbox. Now to figure out a gear indicator to put right in the middle of the dash 😎
You should make a simple swing arm set up for that kart build package/kit instead of hard tell rear end. It would really make that a bad ass kit.
I’ll put out a mass update for the plans if/when I get the rear swingarm done. I’ve got some good ideas for a three step evolution for that solid axle.
@@KJRaycing Right on brother, again i wish you ONLY the best luck, keep involving!
What are those gold magnet holder things? Would those be Strong Hand Tools, Magnetic V-Pads? They look very helpful. Gathering tools at the moment to get ready for my build thanks in advance.
Those are really handy but the magnets aren’t strong enough to hold actual tubing. They are useful for tabs and lightweight stuff. I have a big one too and it still doesn’t work. There are a lot of neat gizmos out there and it’s hard to sort through for one that works really well.
It should sound like bacon when welding
If you want a good strong independent rear and front farely cheap with a 4x110 bolt pattern look into parts for a 1990 Toyota Carolla
I just may do that, I had a celica GT-S and if I remember right it was a nicely triangulated trailing arm which could work out really well. Thank you. 👍
How is the build coming along, when is the next video coming out?
Con esos planos se puede montar cualquier motor ,y si compro los planos las medidas vienen en metros?
Heya,
I’ve been researching the tools needed for this project. I’de like to get the same welder you have. I looked up the 140HD and it say gas and gasless. In this clip I noticed you have a bottle on the back of your welding rig. Is the gas required?
Thank you again for everything! I got the parts list and started working on collecting. I’ll end up getting the VF-1 XL Plans as well as the IRS ones shortly.
Well hello! The 140hd has been awesome so far. Out if the box it is flux core, but if I remember right it comes with the regulator to convert it to gas. Just buy a bottle, hook up the regulator and I think you might have to switch polarities, check the manual. The whole process is easy and takes no time at all. You can get good welds with flux core but MIG (gas) makes your welds look very clean. Thank you for joining in on the fun!

@@KJRaycing excellent, I’m in and fully committed! Got all necessary plans. The tools I need are easily attainable except the bender. It’s going to be a while till i can get that, but this is going to be a rad project!
Frame looks awesome! When you say stretched for taller individuals, what height(ish) does the extra 3" account for. I'm 5'10", so I won't need the stretch, just curious.
I cover this information in the budget build intro 👍. And I show a pretty good shot of my 5’11 self in the kart to show how much room 3” gives you. You don’t need to stretch it 🦾
Ahh. Didn't catch the intro. Thanks.
Do you think a DS650 could be a good donor quad for one of these bad boys?
Um, I sure do. You’re going to have to have good throttle control with that much torque, bit that is not necessarily a bad thing 😁
What size tubing do you use and where do you purchase it?
Check the plans overview in the description 👍
I'd love to buy a pre bent kit. Is there one out there somewhere.
He brought this up last week on the Facebook group.
Back in February i think it was i asked the same question because he already has everything to do it with i mean just think not buying a bender will save you big time i would have gladly paid 3 or 400 to have those nice bends instead of the butt ugly bends i did on mine
I’m working on it. But I am just one man. Hang in there 👍
When you said the wheel base is 81inches is that center to center or outside to outside ?
Hub center to hub center front to back is wheelbase. Track width can be either contact patch or overall outside width left to right depending on the context.
@@KJRaycingok thanks
Is that hard to build alone? I'm a beginner, hope u will answer me. Thanks
I build all of mine alone in my spare time. I made the jigs part of the build which makes building alone pretty easy.
You mentioned in previous videos that you are 5’11”, I am a very small 15 year old about 5’4”, do you think shortening the frame would be bad or change the handling way too much?
Don’t shorten it. The shorter a wheelbase is the more unstable it is at high speeds. You are just going to mount the seat to fit you. I made removable brackets for my girls go karts so they could grow into them. That would be a really good idea for you too.
Ok thanks for the info on that, I think I am going to make an adjustable seat because I have many that would want to ride it.
You mentioned a link to " JD garage " for the miata rearend..but you didn't post the link in the description..nor is " JD garage " a CZcams channel under that name at least..Can you post the link or elaborate more on whom you mentioned that was working on a rearend assembly made from off the shelf, commonly available parts etc..Thank you..
The little info button in the corner of the video when I mention it is the link. Also just added it to the description. Thank you for the heads up.
@@KJRaycing Thank you for the response back.. perhaps I should have searched for it exactly verbatim..as CZcams couldn't find JD garage as it should have been JD's garage..definitely appreciate your support in the community..Thank you..
