When my son was 17, he had the opportunity to travel through Europe for 3 weeks in the summer. My mother cried and said how could I let him go. I told her I wasn't gonna hold him back from that experience. I was Hoard! I kissed him, waited for him to board, saw the plane depart. I turned to leave and cried and cried. If I could have run out there and stopped that plane I would have. I cried every time I thought of him. He's 32 now. We love you Rox. Joe will be fine. We're praying for him and your family.🙏🏽

Told her two days in advance n she looks at me n says u ain't going no where. I was 18. She pulls up n seen me with all my shit packed n asked where I was going. I told her I wasn't playing. She said don't leave yet. She came back in 10 minutes with hella groceries detergent she gave me my health insurance info n everything. I was like I don't mean to hurt u mama lol

    Mrs. Rox,
my mom was just as nervous as you!
she also wanted to keep close tabs on my environment bc the world is scary. I went to NYC for college and she was in GA. She was terrified. Yes, I saw a lot of things, faced many potential temptations, but I knew right from wrong because of how she raised me. I always could hear her in the back of my mind especially when faced with some particularly challenging forms of peer pressure.
I remained scandal free and through my behaviors during year one, the friends I gained learned who I am and what I'm about and the ones who were about certain lifestyles knew to leave me out.
I would say, establish a weekly check-in time, mine was Sunday evenings just to see what's up.
    and trust your parenting!
    💕💞💕

Nile Benjamin Exactly. Rox I remember like it was yesterday. When I had to let go of my Son Joseph also. We have been given some very Special Sons & We named them Joseph. That name means God will add. I know how you feel because my Joseph. Was accepted to Stillman in Tuscaloosa Alabama. My concern was heightened because. This is a highly racial city. I was like you Rox. My Joseph didn't spend the night anywhere else. The party was always at my house. My concern was my Joseph is a Capricorn & always stood up for Justice. He was involved in every Curricular activities that he could be involved in. I had many reservations, about him going away to another city. But I had to trust that I brought him up the right way. Your Joseph is going to make you a very proud Mother. I promise you this. They pay attention to every thing that we have taught them. & they don't let go of it. Even when faced with peer pressure from ppl. from all walks of Life. You can believe that . Yes we are turning our kids out in this crazy world. But they are going to be fine. Every body tells us that we have nothing to worry about. But we feel like, they really doesn't know what they are talking about. Yes my Son got in trouble. When the students in his dorm. Decided to toilet paper their dorm. They put all of them on probation. But when me & My husband. Went to the School to see. Why he had lost his mind. The Dorm Director told us that we had a Great son. But he was peer pressured to participate in this foolshiness. After we got him to realize the wrong that he had.done. He apologized to the Dorm Director & to us. The Dorm Director told us, that he would not put this on his record. Thanks Be To God. The Dorm Director told us that they had never experienced any problems with our Son. He also stated that. He knew That our Son. Did not willfully partake in this situation. He also told us that our Joseph. Was a exceptional student, & person. That spoke volumes to us as parents. My point to You Rox. Trust your Joseph to become the Best Person that he can be & he will. My Son as far as I know. Got himself together & We didn't have any more problems. My Joseph is a Grown Man. With 2 degrees under his belt. He is a Manager over a 400 apartment complex in Buckhead. Your Joseph is going to do more than you could even imagine. He is going to be Fine. I cried many tears also when my Joseph left to go to College. What I can tell You is that. It will become easier for you to handle. Don't push the tears away. We feel better when we get them out. Rox it will get better & that's a promise from one Mom to another.

Your dealing with a spirit of fear. Its normal for parents, but its exasperated by the 24 hour news cycle and the constant death and destruction and rachetness we see daily. Lately the same spirit came on me, and i had to read my bible and remind myself that God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Trust in the Lord, that's all you can do, and that's all you need to do! You still hard, lol!!

Tiffany Jack I learned that the hard way. When my uncle called me to tell me my grandmother was in the hospital because she stopped breathing at home, I wailed so loud that my son stopped what he was doing and was about to start crying because I was crying!!! I had to get a hold of myself because he said, "mommy, you never cry, you crying mommy?" smh when grandmother finally did pass away, I was with my bf and just broke down and was so thankful my son didn't have to see that because he would've been a wreck. Kids can feel energy. No matter what, we as parents have to be so careful with our emotions, especially our emotions during crisis of any kind.

Hey Aunt Rox! You remind me of my mom and dad the day that I left to go off to college. My mom cried the whole way home and my dad cried in my arms. I have never seen the two strongest people in my life break down the way that they did. It might not be my place but one thing that I know for sure is that it was one of the best decisions that we made as a family. One thing I do know is that being a college student you are going to run into a lot of ups and downs, but the two people in your life that you can call are your parents one thing that Joe is going to always know is that he can do anything through Christ and the love and understanding of his parents. When I left off to go to school, The love of my parents and to see their face when I graduate from college as an African-American woman was one of my biggest strength and it pushed me. I was able to graduate get a good job work hard and be able to provide for myself so at the end of the day it was sad at first but now my parents are proud because of the good job that they did.

Auntie Rox, I TOTALLY 100% understand what you are going through. I went through this exact thing last year after my son graduated from high school. I was so afraid of setting him out into the "unknown" world, the menacing & unpredictable cold hearted world. He finally decided to stay in town and attend a community college due to his degree only being a 2 year degree. He decided this ON HIS OWN to attend here in the city. I feel your heart ache as a mother and I encourage you to continue to bless your children with your support of allowing them to LIVE. 1

I have 2 children Rox, 2 boys so I know the feeling! My 3 year old scared my soul from my body a few weeks ago and opened the front door and walked out... I am a hawk over my children and I am still beating myself up for missing that but God is good because God kept him! I think about EVERYTHING that could have happened to him but God kept him and for that I know that as long as you keep your baby lifted in prayer, God will cover him ALWAYS! That same Morning God put it on my heart to pray for my children and I did and that happened a few hours later and I was broken and petrified but so grateful for God protecting my baby in EVERYTHING! Joe is covered in Jesus name and I touch and agree with you Rox that your son is Covered in the name of Jesus!
