I also purchased the book few years ago. It's definitely a read that relieves some frustration on what was going on in media and politics. Unfortunately, the unhinged only seemed to grow and become louder these days. But I do see hope that there are also just as many if not more trying to voice truth, reason and fight against hate and division.
Everybody here is saying how much you’re missed, how wonderful you are, that you’re the voice of reason with a funny and insightful way of making issues accessible and clear to everybody (and not just those with whom you already agree). So I have nothing to add. They’re all right.

I enjoy listening to level headed commentary, especially during these times. Watching the news, listening to conversations and reading what is being posted on social media...it scares the hell out of me. At my age I can reflect back on watching the news with Walter Cronkite. Everything was put on the table when he spoke. Nothing edited or withheld. At least there are still a group of us that have seen the changes that have come about in reporting. Now you no longer have to prove what you say or what you write. I like this video you posted, Al. I met you once at Andrews AFB. You and a group of others were on your way overseas. You were kind enough to autograph a poster of NFL cheerleaders for me. Thanks for drawing the arrow pointing out where you were in the lineup😁.
God Bless Paul Wellstone! His flag in your background brought up a flood of emotions. I was driving a Frito-Lay truck in Northern Minnesota when I heard the news. I was in the middle of nowhere at a county road intersection and 15 miles from the nearest "town". I was crying when I came upon a little old lady in her car slumped over her steering wheel. I stopped to see if she was alright. We saw the tears in each other's eyes. We were both listening to NPR. People around here have forgotten what DFL stands for. Collin Peterson, the head of the Ag committee (Conservative Dem with NRA A+ rating and always stood up for the farmers) lost to a hack Trump supporter. Real people like Mr. Wellstone are sadly a relic due to todays media bubbles. Tina is doing a great job but I miss you.
Walter Mondale just passed away, too. Some AP hack wrote the obituary that turned up in our paper, and it said that Mondale's Senate run in Wellstone's place was hurt by the "partisan" Wellstone memorial service where "thousands" of Democrats had booed Republicans and one speaker begged the audience to "help us win this election for Paul Wellstone." That narrative was the work of walking sphincters on both Faux Noise and Rush Limbo's show, and it was that which drove the polls that put off the voters who might have gone for Mondale over Norm Coleman who lived in the house that Jack built....oh, sorry.
What I meant to say was that as I read the AP obit, I flashed back to one of Al's books and a chapter titled "This Was _Not_ a Memorial for Paul Wellstone," which detailed how the actual memorial service got twisted by the right-wing media machine. The Mondale obit reveals that the twisted narrative is still active. This is why we have to shout at the top of our lungs (or even write in all caps) when lies and misinformation crop up like crabgrass and thistle in your lawn. Truth is the original Round-Up, and not only does it leave your information landscape looking green and pretty, it doesn't pollute the environment!

The third reason to wear a mask if you are vaccinated-- in areas requiring that a mask be worn it can't be assumed that those not wearing a mask are vaccinated.
Ha you should see here in Alabama. MOST people are no longer wearing one anywhere in public, while far less than the American average percent are getting the vaccine here. So it's almost safe to assume that the people still wearing a mask are the ones who ARE vaccinated. It is f-u-c-k-e-d literally beyond all recognition.

I have always been an Al Frankenstein fan. I was crushed when he folded his tent, resigning his Senate seat to make a point that sexual misconduct is wrong.
That didn’t work. People jumped on him, chastising him but one else resigned for the same level offenses. It is my opinion that Al Franken was one of the best Senators of our time. It is a shame that he martyred himself to very little effect. Al, I miss your intellect, careing humor, and mostly your humanity. It is good to see you back in public again.

I had something in common with Rush. He used his grandfather's doctor to say he had a pilonital cyst and could not serve his country. I was working on active duty at the Pentagon and had difficulty sitting. I went to see the Army doctor who said, "you have a pilonital cyst. I'll take care of that now". Did a local surgery on me and I was back to work the next day. Had some pain and because of my job I could not take pain killers but did not even think of taking my leave of the Air Force.
Wish it were the Al Franken decade! Keep up the fine teaching! Gotta end this polarization. It can't end well.

Mr. Franken- Thank you so much for a well worded effort. I have a friend who listened to the aforementioned people. Unlike me he, did not have the wherewithal to separate fact from fiction. A good hearted man, though, whose wife worked as a nurse in a local correctional facility. On March 9th he gave me a ride (both wearing masks) to the DMV. He expressed conflict at the safety of the vaccine and quoted Fox entertainment people and the lies they spread. "Fox, has hotter babes!"... His viewing is at Delahanty's funeral parlor today from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thank you, Tucker and the gang!

Franken was falsely smeared, then gaslighted BY HIS OWN advisers who panicked him into hastily resigning just to make the scary monster of manufactured bad publicity go away, that to him in the heat of the moment, looked like a rapidly building career killing tsunami 🌊 of false sexual harassment charges.

This is great, Al-the more of you the merrier. But I hope this doesn't mean you're giving up your podcast. I listen to it every Sunday while making and eating breakfast (I'm a widow). You keep me company and make me informed at the same time.
Al's got a new podcast released yesterday with Malcolm Nance about Russia and Jan 6. So these vids are a complement to the podcasts, not a replacement.
Wearing masks means I don't have to brush my teeth every day. I don't care if there's broccoli in them anymore and no ones else knows. Also I can fill my mask with m&ms and snack throughout the day.
I don't feel so self conscious if I forget to put my dentures in with a mask on.
I'm just the opposite. If I'm going to have to breathe my own breath while talking behind a mask, I make sure to brush and floss my teeth first.
I snack on limburger cheese in my mask. It keeps people away from me too.

I got shot #2 yesterday but will follow precautions as posted. Yes, Governor Abbott told Texans to lose our masks.
Here in Democratic Houston, we are glad to ignore him.
Every merchant l have visited since Abbott lifted the restrictions still require people to wear masks. And we all do so gladly. No one wants to die here despite Abbott's act.
We ignore him here in soon to be Democratic North Texas.

Al- years ago, when I took my first upper division political science course, there was an assignment titled, "What do you think the biggest issue is in America?" I answered then what has become even more apparent now the fabric of reality being torn apart because of misinformation could sink the Republic.
