A fairly niche topic, and I learned a lot. The intersection of IT and comms is something I’ve not quite considered before. The “employee digital experience” angle rings a bell. Companies that have been ‘data companies’ before that was the term (i.e. banks, financial, SaaS) always had CIOs and this is the person leading the company’s digital strategy and employee experience (aka efficiency) at the top. However, companies that have had to adopt and adjust are the ones that traditionally did not have a CIO… this position is an afterthought and hence the employee digital experience may not be truly prioritized and less understood. These new leaders may (or not) be good leaders but not actually in love with this topic - merely a promotion into C-suite - and are trying to stay above water with all of the core changes and adoptions needed.
