    It was the perfect car for people wanted a Charger but couldn’t afford it, was too large a car, was RWD. Dart fixed all those problems. It was such a good car. My back never hurt from the seats! I miss my 2015 Dart GT with every single option including the Mopar body kit

    The Dart was killed off in the great American CAFE rules. Same with the Focus, Fiesta, Cruz, Volt, Bolt. They figured out they could skirt the rules with crossovers and purchasing carbon credits to offset the CAFE hit to average MPG.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo Před 10 měsíci

      It seems crazy that crossovers are considered "light trucks"!

  • @damilolaakanni
    @damilolaakanni Před 2 lety +6

    I'm kinda disappointed that the Dart never got the SRT-4 treatment. Dodge is a performance brand, and they've done a number of affordable performance cars in the past, like the Neon SRT-4 and the Caliber SRT-4. I'm not considering the Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 because it was essentially a Mercedes Benz SLK 32 AMG underneath. At least something to compete with the Honda Civic Si and Toyota Corolla S (the X-RS name was pretty much gone after 2014 when the Matrix was discontinued).

    I actually saw that a Dart was sold the first quarter of 2022. I do wish the Dart would have lived long enough to see the 2.0T from the Cherokee. I did actually purchase a Cherokee with the 2.0T, and it is actually a blast.

  • @Natethegreat200c
    @Natethegreat200c Před 3 lety +2

    This is NOT a fiat it’s a Alfa Romeo ! RESEARCH! the engine is NOT fiat. Multi air is valve tech that is pioneered by fiat. this is the same old 2.4 with tech added. I’m sorry if I seem annoyed I argue with people about these and Chrysler 200’s all day long.

      @Natethegreat200c Před 2 lety +2

      @@Stompehhh you can watch a consumer reports video, or really any review of the dart and they tell you, watching dodge engineer , reveal , and press conference videos reveals that, and more. It’s a Alfa hatchback we don’t get here in the states called the Alfa Romeo giulietta. The Chrysler 200, Dodge Dart and Jeep Cherokee all use this platform.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo Před 10 měsíci

      But the Alfa Romeo was based on FIAT parts. Roadster Life has a great video on the Giulietta's design process, he designed the Giulietta dashboard to use the same HVAC system as the Fiat Bravo IIRC.

    I bought my Dart for the same price the owner paid for options

  • @TassieLorenzo
    @TassieLorenzo Před 10 měsíci

    It was originally the Alfa Romeo Giulietta (based in turn on the Fiat Bravo) which was a little bit more of an upscale car, however the direct Fiat version of the Dart was called the Fiat Viaggo which is a Dart with Fiat badges. Honestly, I think FCA could have made this car as an Alfa Romeo Giulietta sedan to have an entry level sedan in the Alfa Romeo lineup to compete with the Audi A3, Acura ILX and so on (but they decided that all Alfas should be built in Italy, which I don't think is right, I think changing the planned MX-5-based Alfa Spider over to be the FIAT 124 Abarth instead was a mistake -- Alfa should have had affordable cars like this and the roadster to get the brand out there in North America).

    i have a friend in chicago that used to work at a dodge dealership and he told me that darts have huge problems with the oil consumsion , they use a lot of oil, so much that by the time some people came for their first oil change there was basiclly no oil left and even out here in europe where we call it the Fiat Tipo we dont think of italian or french cars as reliable , but they are (usually) cheap.

      Even Mitsubishi don't use that engine, they have the normal 4B11 in the basic cars and the Evo went to the 4B11T. I think the 4G64 (& 4G63) doesn't meet emissions anymore? Closed deck cast iron engines are a bit old-fashioned unfortunately, even though they are very strong.
