Katrina Adams, chairman and president of the USTA, opened the awards ceremony by denigrating the winner and lionizing Serena. She said “Perhaps it’s not the finish we were looking for today ... but Serena, you are a champion of all champions ... This mama is a role model and respected by all.” WTF was she talking about? Everyone in the stadium was acting like children except the 20 year old Naomi Osaka.
