Tier Ranking Every Book I Read in 2023 (108 books!) 📚🌟

- Today I'm doing a video I've been meaning to make for months now... tier ranking each and every book I read in 2023! I read 108 books in 2023 and they were truly all over the place in terms of genres and ratings, so I thought it would be fun to rank them all to see an overview of my reading year and take a bit of a walk down memory lane!
I'll try to link any video where I gave a more thorough review of the books included here and you can also add me as a friend on Goodreads to see written reviews 💛

What does your channel name mean? I picked "Plant Based Bride" for my blog when I started it back in 2015 as I was starting the process of planning my vegan wedding and wanted to document it. I have been vegan for 10+ years and married since 2016!

I will ALWAYS trust your recommendations because you don't go with the hype
Haha yeah I can’t be convinced to like something if it’s not my cup of tea 😂
omg an hour long ranking video two of my fav things.. im sat!
Haha yay enjoy! 🥰 let me know if you want me to make more tier ranking videos 🙌
from my POV as a casual viewer, the books that i consider your “from the rooftops” books are the reformatory, sisters of the lost nation, parable of the sower, the collective regrets of clover, luster, and monstrillio
those are definitely the ones i remember you speaking about in more than one of the videos of yours i’ve seen haha
Oh this is so interesting!! Thank you for sharing 🥰 seems like I got a few right and missed a few others 🤔
I really loved this video, but will also add that I love the fact that it came out at this time of year. At the end/start of the year, there are SO MANY ‘what I read’ or ‘books you should read’ etc that it’s difficult to find good recommendations through the year outside of that. So I liked that this came out with little explanations of why you recommend them at this time of year ❤
Aw yay, I’m glad to hear this! I was feeling like my technical difficulties meant I was posting this too late to feel relevant, so I’m really glad to know it was still useful and actually kind of a nice time for it!
I love listening to your videos. I don’t read but love hearing all your opinions 😂
Haha well thank you, that feels like a huge compliment! I’m glad you enjoy my bookish rants 😂❤️
I always enjoy your videos very informative and fun
I love this video, and I thank you for your recommendations. You read books that are not often on my radio. I appreciate your thorough and thoughtful review. I would love to know how you made the ranking spreadsheet! Also, I did enjoy Monstrillio and only read it on your recommendation.
I love this omg
Let me know if you want me to tier rank more books 🥰
3/4 through monstrilio and i can already feel that it’s a 5 star for me, thanks to you!!
!!!! I’m so glad ☺️❤️
i read never let you go in 2023 too! one of my fave books now
108 books in 1 YEAR!!!! I think I've not even read 108 books life time ☺☺
Haha I do spend a lot of time reading (and listening!) ❤️
I'm so glad you loved Kaikeyi! You should read the author's new release, Goddess of the River. I loved it even more than Kaikeyi!
Thank you
Rank your favorite sci-fi books. I do realize different people like different things in book but I do take notes of your « shouting of the roof top ». Will have to take a look at a couple of your suggestions and maybe make my way to the no notes eventually 😅
Oo that would definitely be a fun one!
Loved The Reformatory! It is my best book of 2024 so far!
It was truly fantastic and devastating ❤️
I hated Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow so much that it’s crazy to me that people adored it. 😂 I cannot figure out if I read a different book from other people.
Or maybe it has to do with how this book was sold to me about a book on friendship and then I had to deal with two of the most toxic people ever. If this is what friendship is, I must be doing it wrong.
I get that, it’s definitely not a healthy friendship though I think it’s a realistic portrayal of one kind of friendship. If you went into it expecting a nice/healthy friendship I imagine it would have been jarring! All I knew going in was that it included video game design, so I truly had no preconceived notions about the plot, characters, or content.
The characters weren't very likeable, but I enjoyed the portrayal of a kind of friendship between flawed people, and I adored the prose. I don't think it was perfect, but it was a breath of fresh air to me. I know expectations can destroy enjoyment though sadly.
I agree 100% about Never let me go. The first 100 or so pages were so boring that I came very close to DNF that book. I'm glad I held on because the ending is phenomenal.
You should try Saga, it’s basically Romeo and Juliet in space. It reads a lot like monstress
Video Request: Do you think you could make a video about "how to review a book" or like how to write a thoughtful/decent book review. I read a book for leisure for the first time in nearly a decade... Maybe even over a decade. I have thoughts, but I'm not sure the best way to approach my very first review.
How about tier ranking all the movies & Tv shows you watched all this time 👀👀👀?
Excellent video, Elizabeth. It’s funny, but I have just DNF 100 years of solitude…interesting how a book can be adored or hated at the same time…anyway, for me Tomorrow, tomorrow and tomorrow is an amazing book (I cried a lot), Legends and Lattes was just ok, nothing special. And Never let me go and Normal people were quite good. As an idea…what about ranking the 5 stars books of the past five years?
I had been wanting to read Hide since you read it and I finally got a copy last month. I too enjoyed the book! I always get hyped when racial and social issues are discussed in books and I think the author went about race and social class in a smart and creative way (specifically with white entitlement and obsessive divine right).
I think it’s a fun time with fleshed out main characters that come from different aspects of America’s evils.
10/10 will read again 👌🏼
I agree wholeheartedly! I thought it was very well done and I find all of the negative reviews confusing 😂
Hi there, I'm wondering 1. Have you read Anxious People by Fredrik Backman (and, if so, your thoughts?), and 2. Where can I find your full thoughts on Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir?
I haven’t read Anxious People! I’ve read Beartown and have plans to read more Backman, though. I didn’t read PHM for a reading vlog but I have a written review on Goodreads! I also talk about it a bit in my “giving overrated authors one more try” video, but only for context as to why I picked The Martian for the video (that’s linked in the description box) ❤️
@@PlantBasedBride I haven't read Beartown yet but I've read Anxious People three times! It was so cool to unravel the "mystery" side of things the first time and nice to revisit the characters after. I even read it aloud to my husband and that was a ton of fun.
I would love to see tier ranking of every book you ever gave 5 stars 🌟
That would be fun but so hard 😂🫠
lol, not me rec’ing the Last Binding series the other day when you’ve already read them 😂😂😂
The first one was a book club read back when it was released! I’m excited to read the third book ❤️
I’m new here. We have similar tastes!
Awesome! Welcome 🥰
I really want to rank my books now lol
You should! It’s fun 😂❤️
How long did you read each day?
It depends! Some days I read for hours, some days not at all. Average is probably an hour, though!
Do you have a list of all these books
If you go to my Goodreads you can see every book I read in 2023!
How did it happen that THE thing when reviewing/discussing a book (and often the only thing mentioned) is the type of sexuality presented in it? Why literature started being reduced in such a way? On a flip side, I do appreciate that you do not always follow the hype, present your own opinions and actually seem to read the books that you review, which can be said about some BookTubers.
this is a particular thing and sorry if it offends you but when talking about Zamyatin and My you say "Soviet Russia" while meaning USSR. I'm from that region and I always hear foreigners say that which is just incorrect as Soviet Russia was just one of the countries in the USSR and doesn't equate to the whole union. might seem like a silly thing to point out but it just kinda erases the rest of us and makes people from other countries think that Russia = USSR
Thank you for mentioning this! I didn’t know that. I’m certainly not offended- there’s a lot more I don’t know than what I do know and I’m always open to learn ❤️
I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who just can't stand Brené Brown's works... They always feel so surface level to me, filled with anecdotes from her own life and those of the people she worked with that just aren't that interesting to read about. 🤷🏻♀️
Yeah I really don’t understand the hype for her work 🤔 I’ve read two of her books and tried to read two more and none of them were my cup of tea
@@PlantBasedBride Gifts of Imperfection was a waste of my time. I wanted my 4 hours of the audiobook time back. 🫤
