You really need to listen to " When the night comes" by Joe Cocker. It is from a movie " An innocent man", with Tom Selleck. Please.... One night of sin.. Is a great song too.
I met Joe in '86. Was just a kid. My father was friends with one of the horn players. So it was me, my dad and the late Kevin Falvey. Then Joe walked in. Was so polite and gracious. Signed a promo photo for me, and invited us to his "You can leave your hat on" video shoot. That was one bad ass day!

There are so many great Joe cocker songs. For some reason I feel like you might want to check out "You can leave your hat on" from 1986. It's kind of a fun song.
The song sounds so cool, it sounds so raw, almost sounds like it was recorded in a garage! the bad production on it makes it sound just so good!! you can hear every instrument, so raw, and Joe's voice is always raw and just so brilliant...
The Beatles version is in a medley with Mean Mr. Mustard and Polythene Pam. That's all you HAVE to hear for the original, but if you wanted to hear the whole Abbey Road Medley (You Never Give Me Your Money thru The End) it would be worth your while.
Hey Jamel, if you look at his Joe’s hands, his crazy movements, he is playing air guitar. If you haven’t done it, you should check out his video from Woodstock, “Let’s Go Get Stoned”
I loved this video. The bass player playing the bass upside down and the drummer barely hitting the drums 😂 also the best part was the keyboard solo. Chris Stainton is the man.
I saw Joe Cocker in 1990. It was at the Garden State Arts Center here in NJ. Stevie Ray Vaughn came on before him. Joe was still performing at midnight when we left. It was awesome. My favorite album of his, up to that point , was "One night of sin". I love "When the night comes" which was used in the movie "An Innocent Man". My other favorites are "You Can Leave Your Hat On" which was used in another movie which I can't remember the name of at the moment. He did so many great tunes throughout the 90s like "Love is Alive". He dropped out of sight musically for a time between the mid 70s and early 1980s.
Jamel,Tedeschi Trucks did a reunion with The Mad Dogs and Englishman group. Joe passed away before the reunion show. Leon Russell and a lot of the band was there. Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks and Band played also. FANTASTIC!!!!
@@TheRubenMar I looked, and the CZcams versions that splice them together stick "Your Majesty" right in the middle instead of as a Coda. I recommended the playlist m.czcams.com/video/W8uZjeeOcQo/video.html but do you think it's better to end the video with "The End"?
It’s true; the Beatles invited Joe to their studio, where George Harrison gave him “Something” and Paul McCartney gave him this song. George was sure that the Beatles would never record his song. Joe recorded it first, and then the Beatles did, but their version was released first. Joe’s French TV appearance where he sings “Bathroom Window” is a hoot. It’s worth seeing for the clothes alone.
I went to a concert in 1969 to see three acts that I had never heard of before. At the concert I found out that the 2nd act was someone named Joe Cocker and I remember him singing this song. Though I didn't know who he was before, he blew my mind.
The Keyboard Player in the Video is Nicky Hopkins who toured with Cocker. If you look up his name/history you'll see the array of stars he played with. One of his best Piano plays was on Jealous Guy by John Lennon.
Jamel- I saw Joe Cocker front row center box seat at the Hollywood Bowl in the early 1970's. he was great & he also kept coming over between songs to take tokes off of our joints! Also, you should check out John Belushi imitating him on Saturday Night Live in the 1970's, they even got up on stage together one time...great stuff!

Either way you can't go wrong - Joe was amazing!

It’s one thing to do cover versions that are better than the originals. It’s another level when the original is by the Beatles. Between this and A Little Help… he nailed it.
There's a big medley on the back of Abbey Road, that this song was originally part of (starts with "You Never Give Me Your Money" and goes through "The End", runs 16 min. long).
Another interesting fact about this song. It wasn't even complete. So they took this and several other partial songs. Strung them together in a medley.
Also it is based on a true story as Paul's house did get broken into, and he didn't hear about it for a few days later. Thus the line, "Sunday's on the phone to Monday, Sunday's on the phone to Monday. Tuesday's on the phone to me."
I definitely recommend looking-up one of Joe Cockers' interviews. He was a proper English gentleman from Birmingham UK. I also recommend looking-up the studio version to this song, as well as his amazing live cover of "The Letter" by The Box Tops.
The Beatles' medley from "You Never Give Me Your Money to She Came in Through the Bathroom Wimdow". Follow it with "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End" They're only audio videos so they shouldn't get blocked
Joe Cocker was a very talented and original performer for sure. You should take a look at a Saturday Night Live skit in which John Belushi pretends to be Cocker. A masterpiece performance. He passed on not very long ago.
McCartney has that same sort of attitude in interviews. He's talked about when he's out he's happy to have people approach him and talk about random stuff but he gets uptight when people are fascinated by Beatles and want to talk about that. Like he says, that's the other guy, he's just Mac from the village. Thanks for this, love some Joe Cocker. You should check out "Woman 2 Woman," you definitely know the hook from it! Thanks!
