Thanks for this. I will see if I can use the tips but wonder if I can get it to work in my situation. Where I have video of me in the front but want to remove what is showing behind me in the background, furniture, picture frame on the wall behind me. I don't have a way to put hooks or a backdrop up block the view. Any suggestions I would appreciate 😊

No,what I have shown in the tutorial,you can do this for free. There are advanced features in the background remover settings. To use those features,you need the pro version.
Not sure if this is too late, but I have a problem doing this process with a video. Removing the background technically works, but it automatically removes other objects that were not intended to be removed. It's hard to explain but I have a video of a person on a talk show, I want to only remove the background of the video. But parts of his face is removed as well, and I don't know how to rectify the issue.
I don't how how relevant this is, but the video is fairly blurry to begin with. Is that part of the problem?

I understand your problem clearly.
The thing is,Background Remover = Color Remover.
But what happens is the color which is there in the background can also be present in other parts of the video just like in your case and so the color which you select will be entirely removed from the background as well as from any other part of the video.
What you can do? There is no clear cut solution to this problem yet. This background remover option is perfect for working with green screen videos because there is just one color but otherwise it does create problems like the one which you are facing.

Thank you. That's very good. Can you tell me please how to change the colour of the background of the project? For example, I started a new project with a white background. Then i want to reuse the project with a different background colour, how can I do it without having to start a new project altogether.
You will find an option called 'Background color' inside 'Project settings' which is present inside the 'Properties window'. Inside the 'Background color' option,you will find the 'Color' option changing which you can reuse your project with a different background color.

I have the same troble. This thing is usefull if you already have a video with green screen. But how do I create it? Is it possible with vsdc? for example, I have a video of a man walking on the street, how can I remove the background?

I am a content creator myself, running an audio narration channel, where I narrate creepypasta/spooky stories. I recently changed my video editor from OpenShot to VSCD. I only changed as I wanted summat a bit more technical. Nothing wrong with openshot, I just wanted something a bit more technical with more features. Now, with that in mind, I did a video recently, where I wanted to add sound effects, and unfortunately the sound effect video (shotgun blast) came with a still picture. How do I remove the picture, and just have the audio that I need?

Yes,i will. You can easily design thumbnails for CZcams using the GIMP software.
My option for background remover is greyed out, all the options are greyed out is it cause I'm using free version or another reason?
No,all my videos are made in free version,what you need to do is click on the video first and then go to video effects --> Transparency -->Background remover.

This is no use, you are just removing solid colours not real background, can yu remove actual background?
What I wanted to show is clearly written in the title,

It's actually on masking
When I use the free shape tool and I invert the mask, the masked object will only show but the background of the mask will just be white and it will cover the main video
but when I export it like that, the mask doesn't show at all

Do you have the free version of VSDC or the pro version because invert mask option is present in the pro version.
