    To anyone watching this in 2021, steer clear of the Icon UCAs. I just rebuilt the front end of my truck after 50k miles with coil overs and the Icon Delta joints. It'll cost you $300 for new delta joints, $65 for new bushings, and another $50 for a specialty ball joint press adapter to drive out the old delta joints; those are just the retail prices, and doesn't factor in tax + shipping. Basically, you're looking at $450-$500 to rebuild your Icon UCAs when the ball joint goes bad (and it will).
    Just a word of caution that you never see in these videos.

      @mosasa1307 I put another set of new Delta Joint UCAs on the truck.
      I traded my F150 in on a new RAM diesel a few months ago though. They were working fine.
      I think the point is, if you're going Delta joints is going to cost a lot. If you're fine with that, then cool.

    Excellent description of upper control arms. I just ordered BDS UCAs for my 21 XLT with a Fox 2.0 leveling kit. I am using stock wheels with Wildpeak A/3W tires. The tires are 11.9 inches wide, given the 6.5 backspace of the factory rims, will the tires rub? I do have a quarter inch spacer.

    What method wheels did you have on that older red f150? I like that it doesn’t have the large middle cap hanging out.

    I have the pro comp’s on my 2013 F150 and they are squeaking like crazy at 30,000 miles and I have kept them clean their entire life. If I could do it again I would have paid more for the Icon Delta Joint UCA’s. I’ll be buying them now to replace these pro comp’s.

    • @stage3motorsports
      @stage3motorsports  Před 3 lety +3

      Pro Comp suspension components are a great option at a lower price, but this is a get what you pay for scenario and the Icon's while more expensive are well worth it.

      Check out the Rancho UCA's! I'm installing mine today. $319 for the pair, and they appear to be exactly what I wanted. They're basically a ready to bolt on tubular arm. just put the grease zerks on the ball joints and install. Of course they're not going to compete with the special balljoints, but I didn't want anything that wild. Im a storm chaser, so my primary concern is on road manners with the ability to hit shit when needed. Also Texas roads have a tendency to randomly buckle and make insta-ramps... Instructions are also the best I've seen.

    I have a 2013 F150 FX4 that currently has a 2.5" strut spacer but will be replacing them with Bilstein 5100 or Fox 2.0. I'm running 295/70r18 Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws on factory 2018 18" wheels. Would any tubular UCAs clear? I have about 1/4-1/2" of clearance between the sidewall and stock UCA currently.

    Im here because 06 f150 with level struts 2.5 rough country’s. PIA to maintain suspension. Always out of alignment and parts wearing. Just replaced everything and rough country was good to cover their shocks under warranty for making noise after 40k. They are not bad shocks and good company warranty. And the shocks were still working after removing. New ones do feel better though. Anyway! UCA for Ford F-150 wtf!! Is there a decent one ?? Iv had precision form O’Reillys with greasable joint. Thought they were decent. When replacement one was totally shot other still ok. Installed new ones under warranty and filling the boot with grease the boot popped out of place and cannot put it back. It’s screwed now !!! Have to do another job on it and alignment! Any good ones out there that don’t cost you a arm and leg ?

    Narrowing my choices down. I've got it down to the guild to the delta joint and the BDS. Seems like the BDS is more durable and sturdy an having availability of the Moog ball joints is a plus. It's also less expensive. My only question is - does the Delta joint have greater articulation range?

      if the ball is rattling in the socket (easy to tell just wiggle the tire) then replace the joint. if the bolt is wiggling in the ball (wiggle the tire) tighten the bolt.

    Will these UCA's fit a 2015 F150 SCREW FX4 with a 2.1" level kit. Tire and wheel combo is Fuel Vapors 18x9 +1 offset, Ridge Grappler LT275/70R18
