@bronzekite A snaffle is one of the most basic, kindest bits you can use on a horse. It just shows that this horse either has a soft mouth and is responsive and doesn't pull his rider's arms out of their sockets! Some horses uses different bits such as pelhams for example as it's harsher and apllies more pressure in different areas so as to be more effective. And some horses have what's called a hackamore which has no bit at all. You'll never know everything about horses but its fun trying!!
That is the most amazing horse and I don't think that it is animal abuse because the horse would refuse or stop if it was scared or did not want to jump
I 100% agree with you! No human can force a horse about 50x your weight to do ANYTHING! So for all you people who think this is abuse, Go try to push a 1 tonne rock up a hill. -.-
This is not animal abuse. Certain breeds are built for different purposes. Besides, horses are living breathing creatures - they also have a say. And them being much bigger and stronger than us, if they are unhappy or unable, they let us know. There are only selected horses in the world capable of jumping this high. It's all about how they are built, trained, their breeding etc. And btw, did you see him hit, chase or "bully" the horse over that jump? No. The horse has protection - called tendon boots (vital for jumping) on his front legs.
Nick Skelton! You and that horse are the biggest ledgebags EVER!! And 34 years later, still a legend! Good luck to the English at the FEI this year!!! :D
