There wasn’t a dry eye in the house at the Royal Windsor horse Show on Sunday as we said goodbye to to giants of equestrian sports - Nick Skelton and Big Star.

Thanks, Nick and Big Star - fantastic memories, not just for us Brits, but for equestrian sport lovers around the world. A broken neck for Nick, injury for Big Star, TWO gold medals at successive Olympics - truly amazing achievements. 😭😭 I'm crying so hard,this man is such a legend and its like when Valero retired ,Big star and nick have done so much for British show jumping and Rio was the last comp that they performed at 😭😭 This man inspired me start showjumping and givin me so much hope for what I can do,Gonna miss seeing him compete. 😭

He should have won SPOTY - definitely not Andy Murray who’d won it already twice. Nick deserved it more because he had a career that lasted decades and coming back after a broken neck to win two gold medals is something unlikely to be bettered. . He will be sorely missed, but nobody can go on for ever.
