    I’ve got that alter ego delay and it’s hands down my favorite delay

    I kinda like the sound of your delay in front of the amp. Gives it that vintage univibe feel. I would definitely experiment with it soon, with one delay in front of the amp and one on the loop for different tonal flavors.

    Nice and concise; very helpful. Thx.

    I thought I was far beyond this topic, always used it in the front but my noise gate is making me question it 😂

    I have been wanting a Magnatone Panoramic for a long time, but have been hesitant due to having no effects loop. I was concerned plugging effects into the main guitar input would not sound as good. But perhaps plugging everything into the front of the amp is not that bad after all.

    I know this is an old post but if playing heavy 80s rock the delay sounds horrible from guitar to amp. In the effects loop it’s much better.

    I do not have a effects loop on my amplifier or a pedal that has that capability. I plug everything thru the front of my amplifier with the amplifier on a clean setting. My analog delay does not like being in a effects loop

    Analog/tape voiced delay-> in front. Digital delay-> FX loop

      I absolutely agree. Some delay trail distortion sounds great, especially on analog, but it’s also nice to have a pristine digital delay sound.

    Nice. However, as non-guitarist DAW guy I am a bit in doubt about the signal path in these examples. Well, I understand the delay into the preamp case. I am not sure about the other two. Does a fx loop skip the pre, and just go through the amp? What does the UAD path consist of? Thanks! Keep up the good work.

    • @TheStudioRats
      @TheStudioRats  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi Frederico. The fx loop is in between the preamp and power amp, the UAD is after the power amp.

      @@ThomsenTower Actually, to me your reply was the most interesting part when you said "how imbarrassing...". Most wouldn't say that. Few seem to take accountability for thier actions anymore. It's refreshing to see someone go out of thier way to do so even though on this subject matter it didn't matter really....Thx man. Little things like that mean a lot. Have a nice life 🌞👍

    In the video you mentioned using overdrive pedals before the delay, how much overdrive is generated before vs after the delay when you're going into the front?

    I want to use the distorsion from the amp and have the Delay come after. My guitar is plugged into the front of the amp, and the send and return into the Delay pedal. It isnt working so Im just wondering if i Am stupid or if something is broken? My amp is a Randall Rh100 and my pedal is a Behringer Vd400

      Unless you want to get it modded I suggest a boss tube amp expander, that way you can incorporate it’s fx loop

      @@TheStudioRats For the price of tube amp expander I can buy a 100 watt head with a cabinet :D how much modifications cost? Also amazing sound in this video. Do you think I could find a distortion pedal that emulates slash's distortion or sth like that?

      @TheStudioRats  Před 3 lety

      Have a look round for a local amp tech, I’m sure they will be able to help you out. I quite fancy one of those slash amps myself. In terms of pedals, have a look at the earthquaker devices plumes.

      @@igorperic5232 the best way to get that is with a tube British Amp not necessarily expensive, a blackstar htr-5 will do the work preaty close with a les paul. If you have the budget les paul + silver jubilee/jcm 800 and of course being Slash 😀
