British Member of Parliament George Galloway testified at a hearing on how Saddam Hussein manipulated the United Nations' Oil-for-Food Program to win influence and reward friends in order to undermine sanctions imposed on Iraq following the Persian Gulf War. A committee report on alleged abuses of the program had named Minister Galloway as one of several foreign officials who had received lucrative oil allocations in the scheme. Mr. Galloway harshly criticized the report and challenged members to produce evidence of the allegations. He also broadly criticized U.S. policy in Iraq and the decision to use military power to oust the Hussein government. Even my fellow Scots who don’t agree with George Galloway normally were thrilled at his performance here. The man is a legend!

Jard C - I too thought he was a bit of an arsehole, then I met him. It was at a ‘Viva Palestina’ (Food and medical supplies to Gaza) meeting, and I have to confess that I was surprised. During our twenty minutes or so conversation I found him to be courteous and a great laugh. Generally an all round good bloke. He said it was a pity that we couldn’t continue the conversation over a few beers, but the meeting mainly comprised ayrabs! 😈 As for his senate performance, what a total star! 🏴

Independence is well above the SNP. I myself am no big fan and would vote differently post-indy. For any real change to happen, independence does too. By going against the UK Govt they condemn Isreal. Sturgeon condemned it on twitter anyways.

I have watched this dozens of times and I am still amazed at how George Galloway devastated the Senate Committee. Norm Coleman was shocked and stunned right from the start. Well done Mr. Galloway. This will become a classic upload and I hope it will continue to be watched for decades to come and become a prominent part of British political history.

I think part of it plays into the fact that British Mp's have to be able to debate and argue with one another whilst American politicians can sometimes find themselves immune from criticism.

The only thing I obviously disagree with him about is atheism. Not having a god, and acknowledging the scientific process is undoubtedly superior, but his point about Islam only being a CHOSEN evil is correct. Every few decades our society chooses a new enemy. Communists were our last. That was his point.

I couldn't believe it when they "asked" him to come and give testimony. He was my local MP for a while and I heard him debate live several times. Did they not know who he was? Didn't they do due diligence on the guy? George absolutely LIVES for a platform like this. It is his meat and drink. It is like a poor child poking a hornet's nest. They got stung!

I watched George's testimony live, back in the day when I was a teen. George's testimony gave me goosebumps then m, as it does everytime I watch it. I watch it at least once per year to remind me of what America does, and still does, illegally and in the name of The International Community that only represents 6% of the global population. I can't get enough of this debate. I'm from Minnesota and I can't stand that Norm Coleman used to be my senator. George Galloway really puts Norm in his place, and it's absolutely amazing. The Iraq war was beyond horrible.

Coleman squirmed, where as Levin seemed pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the better part of it -- even nodding in agreeance at a certain point. Mr Galloway is a very unique individual. He is a politician with integrity and compassion for the humanity.
If only more British and American politicians were as conscionable; maybe then we wouldn't be in the position of an unstable Iraq where 1,000,000 people have been murdered, 3,000,000 displaced and the rise of ISIS.

I've made a few comments on this, it never gets old and I enjoy returning to watch again and again. George is from the left but is steadfastly principled and honest in his beliefs. I'm am slightly to the right but believe in truth above anything. I admire you George Galloway and when it comes to standing up for truth I stand with you even though we differ on certain beliefs.

Galloway spoke truth to power. But power, as Levin and Coleman showed, already knows the truth and could not care less. As Noam Chomsky says truth needs to be spoken to the people to enable them to realize and exercise their power against the power of evil on behalf of their inherent rights. Through this video Galloway has also spoken truth to the people. For this alone he deserves to be honored forever.

whether you like George or not, you cannot disagree with a lot of what he says. He's talented and courageous and not afraid to speak out. We desparately need more like him. That is people who hold our democracies to account. Our political systems US and UK are full of Ned Flanders like spineless dullards. A democracy aint a democracy if no one is holding it to account. And challenging the decisions made on our behalf. The situation we have arrived at is, that, we the people are subservient and are ruled by our political elite. This is utterly wrong. This is no more a democracy that communism is. Its merely the illusion of democracy and freedom. This needs to change. These people (government) need to be reminded that they work for us. This has sadly been lost of late.

Every time I listen to George - I feel goosebumps!
Saw this years ago and just came across it again. What a guy. I love it when the bullies are taken down. Totally owned the Committee, put them in their place, showed that basically they didn't want to listen to the facts because it's embarrassing to them. I don't agree with everything that George say's or stands for, but his heart is in the right place. I love going to the USA, but sometimes the arrogance of their mainly right wing politicians is frightening. My wife and I once had a 'conversation' with a bus load of American tourists about Universal Healthcare just after Obama had been elected. Their attitude was that if you couldn't work for whatever reason, then tough, why should they pay for any healthcare above the bare minimum. They couldn't get their heads around the fact that they were only one paycheck away from the dole line themselves. They didn't seem to understand that any one of them might need healthcare at any time. It might be the greatest country in the World to visit, but I don't know if I'd want to live there.
Not a fan of a lot of Galloway's opinions on the past few years but I always admire him for what he did here. It seems he was genuinely set up by the British and American establishments to silence his anti war stance which is very fucked up when you think about it. But his own, strength, courage and indefatigability annihilated these chicken hawks and hypocrites.

I re-watch this in totality, just to renew my hope that its still possible, inadvertently, (this happened because they failed to do their homework on exactly what and who GG is ) for truth to be spoken to power. 2022, he continues to do the same, still on the right side of history!!
