Few contemporary politicians have attracted as much controversy as George Galloway. A Labour MP from 1987 to 2003, he was an outspoken critic of the policies of Tony Blair and New Labour, in particular the decision to invade Iraq. Fiery comments such as "the best thing British troops can do is to refuse to obey illegal orders" saw Galloway expelled from the Labour Party. But Galloway returned to the political fray by founding the Respect Party and winning Bethnal Green and Bow in the 2005 General Election. Mr Galloway re-entered Parliament in this March as MP for Bradford West and has recently provoked controversy and criticism with his comments on the rape charges against Wikileaks' Julian Assange.

My departed grandfather left us paperwork for 2 hotels he owned in Haifa, Palestine. He took them with him in case he was ever lucky enough to return.

From the low key reception to Galloway's speech of common sense and reality , I gather that the majority of the room are hard lined establishment apologists. The world doesn't stand a chance with people like this. Mr Galloway is spot on in everything he said and I have come to slowly uphold him as one of my political inspirations alongside Jeremy Corbyn, Rafael Correa and Bernie Sanders. My estimation of Oxford and the integrity of its students went down slightly after watching this video. Let's hope for the sake of a productive future that this is not representative of the Oxford masses. Somehow I very much doubt it though.

I seen a few of his addresses to Oxford and so dissappointing how many have uncritically accepted the thinking that has been handed to them. To see such young people hold such firm beliefs and opinions in the face of George's wisdom and integrity is sad and belies their so-called education.

One of the few not standing by at sideline
In war, no matter where in the world it happens, I feel very very sad for the innocent civilians who are caught in the crossfire, losing loved ones, properties, livelihoods... Etc. We in the privileged countries look the other way and we say nothing, appearing not to care, because we think that it will never happen to us. We only get angry when it happens to us. But most poeopke think, "I don't live there, so it will never happen to me. Am safe, my family's fine, and so, who cares?" This needs to change. We should care about other humans like we care about ourselves, no matter the race, creed, religion, or nationality. I hope the world improves. I hope we all find love in others with whom we have nothing in common.

Fantastic George . Your up there with Mr Churchill . I agree with everything you said . My uncle was sent, after WW11, to Palestine with the British army to " Clear the way" for the Israelis and for their settlements. He spoke about what happened quite a lot , it was truly shocking what he said. He mentioned Yitzhak Shamir often. A brutal evil tyrant who went on to become a PM of Israel. Israel is surrounded by countries and peoples that hate them. One day these peoples will unite , one day these peoples will say enough is enough and will take matters into their own hands . A desperate people do desperate things and the west have facilitated Palestinian demise in textbook fashion.
