Back in the 90s my family and I went to a new park about 15 miles from our house. We took Mister, our Doberman Pinscher, along too. As soon as we get there he darts out of the van to chase a squirrel. Off into the woods he disappeared. After looking and calling for him for almost 2 hrs we went back home. Everyone was upset because our pet was gone. I told the kids I would go look for him the next morning. That night I decided to sleep on the couch and leave the garage door cracked open just in case he came home. My wife thought I was crazy because we lived too far from the park and it was the first time we ever went to the park. Sure enough at about 230 in the morning, Mister is licking me in the face. He was all wet and dirty stinking like sewage! I don't know how he got back, but we were sure glad he did! Dogs are smart......well most of them. 😄
The dog knows what a door bell is. Everytime someone pushes that button, a sound is heard and a human goes to open the door. He knows exactly how to get in.
Someone stole my German Shepherd years ago, she never went out of our land, I don't know how but three days later she was home 😮 I'm glad that happened or else I would have been devastated, I had the opportunity to be with her until her final days and I will be forever grateful for that

Glad to see the dog found its way back home, and yes, do not shoot off fire works around a dog, my dog is sensitive and would run off, he gets scared, so work of warning, I keep him indoors on fireworks shooting holiday and I do not shoot fireworks but some stupid neighbors do.
Today Now… you’re a smart human ppl shooting off fire works aren’t thinking what about our neighbours pets getting scared…they are just thinking about having fun… Pet owners unless on a private property should keep their pets indoors on days like the Fourth of July… Shalom✌️and Agape 💕

And yes, I grew up in a neighbourhood where people literally set off bombs in the middle of the night. I'm just glad my cat isn't affected by the noise. He sleeps right through.

Poor baby to run out of fear then be lost and afraid how desperate AND smart I never left my dogs out during fireworks I would hold them in the bed as they shook.
Tip. If your dog will allow it take the appropriate size cotton ball and press it into your dogs ear canal about a half inch in. It muffled the fireworks. And either a dose of CBD or a dog tranquilizer which you can get from your vet

I had a brand new puppy I had only had him for maybe a week or so and fireworks scared him and he ran away and within 2 days he came back outside my window of the apartment I lived in crying he smelled his way back to me and he was very young maybe 3 months old I was so surprised and so happy to have him back.
This is why fireworks should be illegal except for big public displays, like in Australia. So many pets run away terrified by fireworks and never find their way home. It's terribly sad and completely avoidable.

I was cat sitting for my daughter at my home. The cat followed my dogs outside through 2 dog doors. It was cold and I didn't know the cat was outside until I saw a reflection of the cat in a window of my living room pawing at the front storm door handle! The cat went out through 2 dog doors in the back, came to the front and knocked/pawed to get back in. 😅😅😅😅😅
Dogs are sure smarter than we can imagine. My spaniel Joy would drag me to a family members house she knew when they were ill every time. She became very popular, and to think she was a breeding dog I had when she was 4 years old. For 10 beautiful years we had joy, and she was. I had many dogs and if you take the time all dogs have abilities, they are beautiful souls, love them and take care of them as you would care for yourself and family and friends. Be KIND xxxx
