High Speed Pursuit on BMW fleeing from local police - Arkansas State Police takeover chase

- Trooper's Report:
On 3/7/2024 at approximately 3:25 pm, Troop K Dispatch advised that Pike County had a person flee from them in a black
colored BMW sedan bearing the license of (NY) LCL5347. I was on patrol in the area of State Highway 53 in attempt of locating
this vehicle. I met a vehicle matching the description southbound on State Highway 53. After turning around to confirm the
vehicle, I had lost sight of the vehicle. I continued southbound on State Highway 53 and regained sight of the vehicle on State
Highway 51. The vehicle then made a left turn onto State Highway 53. Once I turned onto State Highway 53 from State
Highway 51, there was a log truck in between us. This section of State Highway 53 has a double yellow centerline not allowing
for passing. I was able to catch up to the vehicle I paced the vehicle at speeds ranging from 75 mph to 90 mph in a 55 mph
zone. After activating my emergency lights and siren, the vehicle fled reaching speeds above 100 mph. The vehicle was being
operated in a manner with complete disregard for human life evidenced by driving in the opposite lane, passing on blind
hills/curves, and speeding. As we approached the overpass of Interstate 30 at the 63 mile marker, the vehicle drove into the
oncoming lane and then executed a hard right turn onto the on ramp. Due to the combination of excessive speed and the sharp
right turn of the on ramp, the vehicle lost control and struck the raised concrete gore with the driver side. After impact, all
curtain airbags deployed and the driver door opened. Myself and Trp. Jackson Daniell #157 ordered the driver and passenger
out of vehicle. Both driver and passenger were placed into handcuffs and into the back of mine and Trp. Daniell's patrol unit. I
later identified the driver as Stanley A. Gill Jr..
The passenger later identified as Malik Smith.
I read Gill his Miranda Rights and asked why he was running, why he was
passing a log truck on double yellow, and why he was going head on with a dump truck, to which Gill replied "I don't know".
During an inventory of the vehicle, we located a bag of medication in the back seat that was prescribed to a "John Lipusz". After
contacting Pike County Sheriff's Office, John Lipusz was the third subject in the vehicle that Glenwood Police Department had
in custody when Gill fled the traffic stop with Smith as a passenger that initiated the BOLO. Gill is booked in on the following
charges:
5-54-125(d)(3) FLEEING - FELONY - VEHICLE OR CONVEYANCE - SUBSTANTIAL DANGER OF DEATH
27-50-302(a)(2) RECKLESS DRIVING
27-51-301(a) DRIVING LEFT OF CENTER
27-16-303 DRIVING ON SUSPENDED LICENSE
27-51-104(b)(1) IMPROPER OR UNSAFE LANE CHANGE
27-50-302(a)(7) SPEEDING - MORE THAN 15 MPH OVER LIMIT - Auta a dopravní prostředky

I want to take a moment to recognize and give thanks to that pothole full of water. It's been sitting there for so many years being cursed out by the locals and today, it can finally shine as the hero who helped bring this chase to an end.

pothole wasnt in the road though. so i doubt any local was cursing it :) it was just the gravel eroding from the triangle that was unpaved at the intersection

When I heard the trooper utter those words I had a sudden understanding that is most likely how these officers show contempt for the people they have to chase down.
He is attempting to speak in the native "thug" language, in hopes of them understanding him better...
I disagree, officers should not be cursing at all. it just makes them sound like the thugs they are arresting and takes away from their authority. officers should hold themselves to a higher standard and should not be using any curse words at all.

Trooper Smedley is a driver. The lines he takes and how he approaches the apex of a turn were right on the money. Excellent modulation of the throttle and brakes. Very calm. Well done.
Agreed, except for his unnecessary/ time consuming 3 point turn to kick off the chase.
He's a hell of a driver, pushing that 2+ ton 5.7 Charger to its limits, you can hear the tires struggle for traction on some of those corners. And if the chase had been longer i think the lighter and more nimble 330i would have gotten away if it weren't for that pothole!

We see the same suspects running because they get let go after a single night. They go out and simply repeat what they did a day ago.

Why are the other state troopers wearing different color uniforms? Are they higher ranked or something? Just wondering
Might be from different districts / regions from within the state. Or they have multiple branches of the troopers that have different colors to tell who’s who. Like special operations or drug enforcement and highway patrol.
All patrol have different uniforms. What they are scheduled to do usually determines which one they wear.
I can't say 100%, but all of the K9 troopers I have seen in these videos wear that all black outfit with the wording on the back of the vest. They are also always in Tahoes/Durangos which is what they use for K9 vehicles with the extra space in the back.
Probably a joint pursuit ... state, county and maybe city or village
