    Unless I'm mistaken, the gentleman on the left of the aisle (balding head) , being passed by the bride at 1.08, and wearing his Doctor of Music robes, is Sir William McKie, Abbey Organist and Master of the Choristers and in charge of all the wedding music. This was his 3rd major royal occasion. He had been in charge of the music at the wedding of Princess Elizabeth in 1947 and then six years later the music at the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth. Extraordinary gentleman and a brilliant musician and organist.

    Not a fan of the royals but if this dress can teach any bride to be one thing, it’s keep the dress simple and elegant. The tiara being the statement piece. Classic.

    The weddinggown was beautiful and timeless however not regal. The fact that she wore the Poltimore tiara that she especially bought for the occasion made it royal.

      Hi, I'm the asker of the question below using my second accout. Thank you so, so much for providing me with the information I was seeking! It had been frustrating me for weeks! Would you happen to have anymore information regarding the people sitting in the royal family area? I know the usual suspects (The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent and the Duchess of Kent, etc), but would you happen to know some of the rest? I would love to know!

      Conor Judge Hard to make out all of them but from what I can see, there were all the Gloucesters and Kents, The Princess Royal and her sons, plus Lord Mountbatten and family, Princess Alice of Athlone and Lady May Abel Smith. Hope that helps!

      @@gillchatfield3231 Afraid not! Definitely Queen Ingrid as you can check by looking at Getty photos of the event. Also, the Aunts, Princess Royal, Duchess of Gloucester and Duchess of Kent were further back in the procession as dictated by protocol, whilst the two Queen Consorts walked together.

    Can someone please, please, please tell me who the woman walking down the aisle at 06:36 (to the right of the Prince of Wales and behind the Duke of Edinburgh) is? Carrying fur over her left arm. • @Sheila02181
      @Sheila02181 Před rokem

      Queen Ingrid's connection to the RF is interesting. She was a great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria because her mother was Princess Margaret of Connaught. That Princess Margaret married the crown prince of Sweden, but died young. The crown prince soon married again to Louise Mountbatten, whose siblings included Louis Mountbatten and Princess Alice of Greece, Prince Philip's mother. Thus Ingrid's stepmother was her own second cousin and she was Philip's step-cpusin.

    As much as I love Princess Margaret's wedding dress, I also must admit that the Queen's dress was quite a clunker. She usually dressed so well, but that dress with its poufy skirt was out of date for the time.
