    The only reason why she married Snowden is because she was getting old with no prospects.

    She wanted a bad boy with an artistic streak. He was both a homosexual and was having a baby with another girlfriend. Wetting his background wasn’t the strong side of the RF. They knew him as a photographer and kept him on even after they split and divorced. Margaret desperately wanted to be a sophisticated society lady admired and envied by everybody. She was extremely bored after her children were borne and husband left for photo shoots. If she had been named ambassador to Washington or Paris maybe Rome and both of them had some responsibilities to represent the country maybe their marriage would have lasted a little longer.

      I was watching a documentary and one of the reasons he stayed in the BRF good graces is that after he and Margaret divorced he never said anything bad about them. No exposé, no tell-all, nothing.

    Oh, the irony! Anthony Snowdon was an absolute bastard to Princess Margaret, not that she had a winning personality. A complete mismatch. Not allowed to maintain her royal titles and privileges if she married Peter Townsend, because he was divorced; yet he had the personality and experience to have fitted in with royal life perfectly. Another irony and an example of the damage of tossed mores, she was the first royal to get divorced. Actually, there is a third irony: that of not immediately imposing the same restrictions on Harry for marrying Meghan Markle who has caused so much trouble for the British and heartache for the Royal Family. Had they tossed Harry and his titles immediately for marrying her, the outcome likely would have been much less damaging, Like Princess Margaret with Peter Townsend, Harry may have chosen not to marry Meghan Markle, given that choice at the start of their relationship.

    • @unamed2516
      @unamed2516 Před 3 lety

      I heard Harry has stated that he always wanted to leave the royal family so I’m sure if he did lose his titles at the beginning he would still make the same decisions he’s already made since stepping down.

    • @normamimosa5991
      @normamimosa5991 Před 3 lety +3

      @@unamed2516 Don't think so. Harry hasn't lost his titles. She has gained a title. At the start, they unbelievably wanted to be half in and half out. That was not an option for representatives of Britain's head of state. Another consideration with this marriage is that Harry's wife had already publicly trashed President Trump, calling him a racist and misogynist, without substantiation, reason or intelligence, simply parroting the slander and epithets spat out by CNN et al. Of course, he is neither a racist nor a misogynist. The point is that she had publicly and viciously bad mouthed the leader of Britain's strongest and most important ally, and continued to publicly preach neoliberal dogma after she became a royal, yet she was representing the Queen, Britain's head of state, and wanted to continue representing her part time. It is astounding that they allowed her to become a member of the RF, after her having been so publicly irresponsible.

      Norma Mimosa There are letters in the National Archives that prove that could have married Peter when he came back to Britain, there was a new government who thought differently
      they gave her permission and she wouldn't have lost her privileges, it was Margaret who was no longer sure how she felt,
      but yes Anthony Armstrong-Jones was a vile man and had a cruel streak
      and of course harry should not have lost his titles
      the attitudes to different in the past, it was still only for rich people and even then it was a scandal
      divorce was for everyone in the 70s, the church and the Monarchy do evolve

    • @normamimosa5991
      @normamimosa5991 Před 3 lety +1

      @@lsmith9249 I have never heard of those letters in the National Archives; however, I do know that the Queen gave Princess Margaret permission to marry Peter Townsend, without her titles (other than Princess, a birth title, of course), royal benefits and role as a representative of Head of State. I have also read, as you suggest, that Princess Margaret easily moved on; that perhaps the romance was not as serious as we have been led to believe, as she pursued him. He did not pursue her. We will never know, as Peter Townsend, unlike the woke Meghan Markle, was the embodiment of decency, diplomacy, discretion and trust. He never discussed the situation, as I understand, not even with his sons.
      You are right mores change. A great illustration of this is portrayed in Evelyn Waugh's book, "Brideshead Revisited." (Did you watch the series on TV?). It showed how the mores of one generation can destroy lives, yet are completely reversed in the next generation.
      If you think Harry should not have lost his titles, he most certainly should lose them now (other than his birth title of Prince). Duke and Duchess of Windsor and any other gifted titles should be stripped, in my view.

      @@normamimosa5991 besides her royal title, she only had the title of Princess
      and the Queen advised her to wait 2 years, as at 25 she would not need the Queen's permission
      and l have never suggested that Margaret easily moved on
      l have said that Margaret said she was no longer sure how she felt
      she said that in her reply to the new Prime Minister of the time in her reply to his letter
      she said she would know how she felt when she saw him
      and the letters were made available to us in 2004
      and those papers have been mentioned a number of times by our press and have been shown a number of times too on various documentaries
      and brideshead revisited was first published in 1945, so it would have been written before then
      and it was fiction
      and period dramas are only based on the books,
      and l haven't said that l think harry should lose his titles,
      l have said he won't, he has a royal title because he is he Prince of Wales son

      and have been for hundreds of years
      their wives only have the title of Duchess by marriage
