- This is an easy DIY Open Shelving Tutorial that will show you how to make open shelving that is great for your laundry room, kitchen or coffee bar! In order to get this lovely home ready to be listed for sale, the laundry room needed a storage solution. These laundry room DIY Open Shelves turned out beautifully and it was so much more cost-effective than purchasing prefab cabinets. Using those moroccan trellis brackets also gives the space a custom look. I am a big fan of DIY'ing projects around the house -- doing your open shelving yourself allows you to customize the length and depth of your shelves to fit your space perfectly and you can also choose your stain or paint color to coordinate with your space.

What is the strategy to screw in the brackets? Was it tough getting the screws into the wall with the iron from design of the brackets in the way??

What size screws did you use to connect the shelf and the brackets?
Hi Davina! Just make sure your screws don’t exceed the width of the board. Remember they are actually only 3/4” thick even thought the common name is 1”. ☺️

Is it durable to hold 40 lbs?
Hi Kendra! The wood is definitely thick enough to accomodate 40 lbs., but just make sure you install your brackets either into the studs or use deep anchors and longer screws if there are no studs where the brackets need to go. Tag me in your pics if you try it out! @AmandaFallonHomes =) =) =)
