There is this shitty meme going around the historical community that the Puritans were anti-fun. Well no. They loved singing, having monogamous sex, and reading Paradise Lost. That book includes a chapter, where invents artillery and uses it to bombard the forces of Heaven.

This might be off-topic, but here's a fun fact about epic poems being still written in the age of print:
The last great epic in European literature is considered to be the _Pan Tadeusz_ by Adam Mickiewicz, published in 1834. As befitting the "national epic poem of Poland," it was written in Paris, takes place in the modern-day Belarus, and opens with the line "Oh Lithuania, my homeland!"
And it has guns, too. 😉

@jeffolsen4983 I've never read it from beginning to end, like a regular novel. But I've read large fragments of it, most of it, over the years. And I knew the general plot and characters beforehand.
I used to think that Gods and Angels were far from concrete. As in, unlike the Greek gods which are immortal beings but still touchable and even being able to be harmed.
Milton's vision seem to give them some form of physicality. As in, God can be harmed by a weapon, and even defeated. The very same person who made the world. Uh. I wonder if he thought this through.
