I have a WC M92 Brig Tac. It was expensive at around $1200 or so, but was my retirement gift to myself from the Navy. I adore that pistol a lot, as the M9 is the easiest gun for me personally to shoot, likely due to all the time I have on them. I really want a 9mm 1911 after being so-so on the idea of them for most of my life, but I love my plain Jane Colt series 70 1911A1 I picked up so much that I'm interested. This one is way out of my budget, but it's still nice to see. I love WC's stuff, that's just too much for me to swing! Hope it's fun for yall at the range.

I carry an SFX9 on a daily basis. Also have the EDC X9. Difference between those and this one is the slide. This one has a traditional 1911 slide, the SFX and EDC do not (external extractor, internal on SFT9). Also the SFX and EDC have bull barrels vs bushing on SFT9. Love these guns, been to 3 day course on dusty range and worked perfect. No cleaning but did oil before last day.
I own an EDCX9 4 inch and have a SFX9 4 inch with optic cut on order.
My SFX9 has arrived and I have fired 400 rounds through it with zero problems, which doesn't surprise me as I have 2900 problem less rounds through my EDCX9.

Btw your disassembly is mostly correct. Just push the barrel forward slightly first so you turn the bushing on the narrower diameter of the barrel.

FYI: The manual from WC shows using the bushing wrench to turn the barrel bushing and remove the spring cap first. I wanted a high end 1911, but with more capacity than my previous 1911"s. I purchased the SFT9 and put an Aimpoint Acro P2 on it. It's my carry gun. I am not disappointed in any way. Cheers

Just got my “ready to build” email today from Wilson. It was just over $3,500 with sight upgrades but only $500 down to place the order. I call in every month to pay down the balance so when it’s finished, it’s not a huge payment. I was quoted at 4 to 6 months lead time.
You get what you pay for with these guns. I have the Experior, EDC X9, SFX9 and literally just ordered the SFT9 ten minutes ago. I'm a Class 3 SOT so I have a lot of guns and tell people every day to buy the absolute best they can afford because what is your life worth or the life of a loved one? You need it to go 'BANG' if you have to pull the trigger every time. While I think my Kimber's are on par with my WC's it's just time for a change I think as far as primary EDC is concerned. After shooting the SFT9 for a bit I will decide which one I will carry for the next 15 years.
I think the SFT9 only comes in the commander size, doesn't have the external extractor like the SFX9, and the slide top profile is different. i have a SFX9 3.25 and adore it. makes me want to try out the other double-stacks and 1911s. great review
I think the way you disassembled it is for for the updated design compared to where the slide stop was in order 1911s I think
I don’t have one of these, but I’ll tell you that after purchasing some Colt 1911s and even some Springfield 1911s that couldn’t complete a full magazine without a jam of some kind, we bought some Nighthawks and an Atlas. Not a single round has been a problem with those names after thousands of rounds. I will say that we have a Springfield TRP in .45 that has never ever missed a beat. But why spend a grand on a Colt 1911 or Springfield Ronin that keeps jamming? Yup they are a lot of money but the craftsmanship is amazing. Wilson Combats are not on the Massachusetts approved list but Nighthawks and Atlas are. Go figure. Best Regards. Can’t wait to see the range videos

This looks like an amazing piece of work from Wilson. As to dropping the slide etc issues, I think a firearm should be able to handle such handling issues now that we have such modern day precision manufacturing and fitting available to one who is purchasing from Bill Wilson.
If a "perfectly" tuned machine goes out of tune for some minor handling things, then is it really "perfect"?

While I understand and accept the advancements in the firearms industry, I nevertheless believe that a true 1911 should be what it was designed to be: 45 caliber and single-stack magazine. The thin grip is one of those things that is a signature feature of the 1911. You can blindfold yourself and ask people to give you one by one a few dozen pistols that you know absolutely nothing about, but you can recognize a 1911 from the first touch.
i use kleenex, an off brand, sometimes as toilet paper.. neverless believe that it's not really butt paper but instead misunderstood will wipe anything paper. that's what I call it even when it comes in a roll or a box with a top access hole.

Comes with just one. Two magazines.
Wish they all would go back to gi guide rods, this disassembly method seems easiest & not messing with bushung under spring tension.
Maybe one of these days the trend will swing back that way. I've never had a GI guide rod cause the binding issue that they allegedly can have, but the extra non-reciprocating mass does help make for less muzzle flip a tiny bit.

Personally, I would never pay that much for a carry gun. I don't want the authorities to enjoy it if it would ever need to be used in a justified defense encounter. That said, as a range, fun, or comp. gun...absolutely. WC's full line is well known for quality and craftsmanship.
I had similar thoughts. But then I thought...why would I pay this much for a gun that I train with, shoot at the range for fun and compete with, and NOT use it for my EDC? The chance of me ever using it in a self defense incident is rare, so the chance that I am going to lose it to the authorities is rare. More importantly, if I do ever need to shoot my firearm in a life and death event, I want it to be the best firearm I own, that I shoot the best and train with. Finally, I get to enjoy having it with me every day.
That looks identical to a PPQ/PDP/Canik mag. I bet they are interchangeable.
Canik mags don't actually work well in Walthers from my experience. This does look like a PPQ M2 magazine though. Which would not be a good thing.
Why would that not be a good thing? MecGar makes magazines for most pistols and it’s much easier to choose an existing magazine to base a platform around. The cut at the top might be a little different but other than that, it looks like a M2 magazine which would be good to know. It actually makes the Wilson Combat more appealing if it is a PPQ mag

I've seen it. Metalurgy has changed a lot since the 1970s, I'd be surprised if Wilson Combats were made to the lower standard of that time.

@@GBGuns Thats what I was afraid of. It looks like my pinky may be holding on for dear life on it. But its hard to tell. I have big hands. If it is as long as say the grip on the cz p10c then I would be fine. Im right there at the bottom of it, pinky touching the magazine but still a comfortable hold on it.

SFX hasn't traditional style barrel bushing system .

Not trying to be a prick but why do you drop the slide on an empty chamber even Bill Wilson says it will damage the sear ingagement ruin the trigger pull and beat up on slide lock up and I would agree with Bill on this but I understand it's not my firearm but it teaches people bad practice
I've heard that, and believe it was once true, but metallurgy and firearm design has come a long way since the 1970s. If this modern Wilson still has that weakness it's a gun problem.
@@GBGuns I would also agree with that makes sense I just tend to usually listen to a guy's that been building firearms for a long time and has some of the best engineers in the industry but I would be worried if a gun can't handle a few slide drops how many rounds actually equal the same as one slide drop on empty would be a great test to perform if I had the gages to actually measure and tell what's really happening but thank you for responding much appreciated
I don't drop the slide on empty regardless of what gun it is. I however have a tendency to baby my firearms.
I've seen broken extractors from dropping on a chambered round. That issue was pretty much solved when we went external. Other than that, I agree with GB.

@@tylerboyer2006 I understand your point, I also recognize that some folks don't keep up with things, or old quotes lasting past their relevance. Take for example the "Caniks need 124gr" lore. That WAS true 2015-2016, but Canik changed their spring rate for American ammo in 2017, yet 6 years later people still repeat the dogma despite many (including us) proving otherwise.
I fail to see anything wrong in your method of field stripping. The way you're doing it leaves less of a chance of anything flying out under spring pressue which can happen when done with the traditional method (plunger goes flying if you're not very careful). Beautiful pistol. I really like the shape of the fram/grip especially the rounded area at the rear bottom. Instead of a straight or bobtail its just nicely rounded. Wish I could justify the cost but it would make me sell a couple of mine to buy it and .....not sure its worth that at this point

When it causes an issue for a firearm I will be sure to let the world know. So far, with hundreds of guns reviewed, I've yet to have an issue.
