this grasshopper mower has suffered some blunt force trauma and has damaged the 90 degree gearbox to the point of non-repair
Thanks. At work I have a 721D with the powerfold deck lift. When I raised it today to remove and sharpen the blades I noticed oil dripping oretty aggressively just below it. I suspect that the gearbox seals have gone bad. This 721 has a botton steel plate cover to protect the box, so it probably didn't get hit.
I think prices have gone up since you made this video. A brief search shows this box to range from $260 to $300 depending on the supplier. Anyway, looks like this is where I'll start my day tomorrow. 😄
That's why we charge all the money to rent these machines to homeowners !

I struggle with field repairs. We are in farming country here and the equipment usually has multiple issues which adds up fast.

How much oil does it take in gearbox?
@mowermedic1 I just recently purchased a 2004 321D. What are the main issues you have seen that I need to keep an eye on? Also, did these mowers come with digital hour meter in 2004?

My mower is picking up a vibration.
Started last fall the last week of use.
I have 1500 hours on the mower.
Drive shaft and pillow block's look and feel good no play in drive shaft.
It's seems like the hydro is vibrating back to the engine. The radiator shakes
In its Iso mounts. I don't believe it has any connection to the deck operation.
Just wondering if some type of mounts could be going bad or something like that.
Any help would be appreciated.

hmm, sounds like that grasshopper needs a protective steel plate, thats what i would make.
