    Could you make a video like this for setting up coil-shocks? I got a Scott Gambler as my first downhill bike, but i can't really figure out how to set it up properly. The bike manual says 40% sag and fox says 20% to 15%. But those numbers seem a bit extreme. Now I set it up where I sort of like it, but it is not ideal.

    This is great and I have a question. What affect does head tube angle have on air pressure in the fork? Given a slacker angle has the front wheel more out in front and I would think taking more of the impact.

    • @gmbntech

    Is it ok to ride at about 10% sag. I like to have my suspension hard for jumps gals and drops. Is it worth easing my suspension and use 30% sag then I don't want to use all my travel on small jumps then bottom out on larger ones?!?!?!

    • @gmbntech
      @gmbntech  Před 5 lety

      10% isn't really enough for sag. Remember your fork has to extend into bumps as well as absorb them! Use 30% sag, but consider running more compression or a volume spacer to absorb those small bumps better without blowing through your travel. And actually, you do want to bottom on those big features, in order to actually use all of your suspension travel!

    hey doddy,
    I am currently running a Manitou Mattoc Comp Pro 2 Fork with 160mm travel and have set it up with about 55psi (im about 73kg with everything on) and while the SAG looks correct, the fork far to bouncy if I paddle while out of the saddle - even if I put LSC and HSC at max.
    Would volume spacers help? Any advice?
    Cheers!

    • @benjik9294
      @benjik9294 Před 5 lety

      Yes definitely if your fork takes volume spacers you should play around with them
      Hope this helps

    • @krzysiu4003
      @krzysiu4003 Před 5 lety

      I think the comp has an open bath damper so you can put a higher viscosity oil in it to slow down the movement. Low speed compression should control rider input like pedalling out of the saddle. High speed controls how fast it compresses when you hit something or drop off something. When I put H/L compression on full on the Mattock it feels terrible and doesn't move much at all. My Mattoc pro came with spacers that I used to make the fork more progressive. It doesn't really stop the bounciness of the fork.

  • @bordangosic4834
    @bordangosic4834 Před 8 měsíci

    I don't get it. First fully unwind fork (on rebound button) or fully closed is when rebound button is turned all the way to the "deer" sign, then later fully closed rebound is when the rebound button is all the way to the "turtle" sing turned. Is this some kind of mistake or did I got something wrong here?

  • @sushruthravishankar105

    • @mattgies
      @mattgies Před 5 lety +1

      You can temporarily put a zip tie (cable tie) or twist tie around the stanchion if your fork doesn't have the o-ring as a sag indicator.
      If you mean the stanchion doesn't have the markings for sag percentages, then you just need to know your fork's maximum travel, measure your sag, and divide the sag by the maximum travel. If you don't know the travel, you can let all the air out and push it to full compression to find where it bottoms out, then reinflate it, and measure the amount of stanchion that was hidden at full compression.

    Used the recommended settings for my pike but it was like a jackhammer on the roots, I still put up with it for a couple of months before popping in another token,dropping the psi and messing with the rebound, it's still not perfect but much better and I'm too lazy to fix it or make it worse again.

    • @RGCastro7
      @RGCastro7 Před 5 lety

      Most of the time, those recommended setting are somewhat close, but setting by sag will yield better results. Start with recommended and tune the pressure up or down for sag according to your preference. If it's bottoming out but you like the feel in general, add tokens. I run way lower pressures on my Rockshox Pike and Reba than what the tables suggest.

    It went together easily in less than an hour. czcams.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.

I have been searching for hours how to fix it and that done it for me - Will need to add some more air but better than riding a hardtail with no front sus at at all.
