The thing would have been that nobody at the wedding or reception would have known the prices of the dresses unless bridey announced it a few times, and not even Ms. "Unforgettable" seemed classless enough to do that.
The flamingo comparison is hilarious, but demeans a bird that's more elegant in its simplicity than that gaudy gown was in its "glory."
I love Randy. He is so diplomatic and absolutely puts everything in perspective.

My wedding dress was £50 and I have no regrets. I am glad that some people can afford complex dresses so that designers and makers of beautiful fabric, beads, patterns, etc. can continue their craft, but it's nice when there is a little humility and gratitude accompanying that. It's a very rare privilege indeed to ever get to wear a really beautiful, detailed garment, and so good when that is appreciated.

My dress was $400 with alterations! I couldn't imagine spending so much on a dress! That's some people's entire wedding and honeymoon budget!
I know right!! Think my dress came to £1000 in the end, it was £600 for the dress, but I had to have it made bigger as I found out I was pregnant lol
There was a dress on this show that cost as much as yours, with two zeros on the end. It looked like a bathrobe with 3D flowers printed on it.
Mine was $180 at an outlet store. It seemed to work, though, because here we are 33 years later! 😊

@@thehungrygoldfish Someone got their fee fees hurt. The brides I can remember seeing who spent much ended up looking a hot mess. Huge implants, over tanned and desperately in 'love' with a disaster dress. Happens over and over.

Spending the amount of money you could buy a pretty decent car with or a down payment on a house for just a wedding dress is literally insane. I don't understand it.

Adjusting for inflation between this episode's filming date--2007---and now, that second gown ($14,600) would cost somewhere around $22,000 today.
I don't understand it, either, not when that would be a terrfic financial start to married life if it was money in the bank...or better yet, to her father's retirement fund, seeing it was he who was buying the dress.

This episode is from 2007, and my inflation adjustment is from a site online, so I didn't get exact amounts, but still, that's a significant amount of money!
I guess It's great if you don't have to pay for it and it comes from another's pocket.

I can understand 1k if you add in alterations/modifications and tailoring to your size. But for a base price that's too high

I love the second bride's confidence! Her white dress was really nice, and while I don't care for the pink, she did actually look awesome in it because of her confidence. The other dresses though were bleh both in terms of style and because it's so disrespectful to breach someone else's budget.
They all should be ashamed of themselves for frivolously spending that amount of money on a one and done dress!!

No matter the budget, I really get the impression that Kleinfeld has only five to six different types of dresses in their store (with very little variation between them).
Might also be that brides keep choosing the same six dress types over and over despite wanting to stand out and be unique 😂

@@BasicYTHandle Oh yea! My sister in law’s sister spent $400 on just make up alone. Her shoes were only $50. She bought her dress second hand for cheap and the resold it. She put more into her wedding then the dress for sure. She wore 2 dresses instead of 3.
I love pink, but that can can dress was too far out there for me. The blingy Pnina has been overdone 10,000 times over. It’s not unique.
My wedding dress was $175 in 1981.
Mine was $190 in 1978. If thrift stores (& rentals) had been prevalent then, I definitely would have done that.

To be fair to the first story, Dana (the little sister) has a good eye and amazing taste.
Just not a good eye on the price tag. It’s easy to forget that when you look for someone else and are not the one paying for it. Let alone wearing the dress.

I was a daddy's girl n he still didn't pay thousands for my wedding dress. Blue collar family couldn't afford to. Also he was the type of person who would have said " honey do know how much good that kind of money would do the local homeless shelter?"
