While I’m not expecting it to be like Godzilla Minus One, and it doesn’t have to be, I’m incredibly stoked for a silly fun action movie with over the top scenes.

Agreed and also one of the cool things is having two Godzilla films come out for his anniversary that reflect the tones you can place him in and mostly work. Basically a modern Showa era style movie.

I saw the movie Tuesday night on IMAX. Godzilla x Kong is a lot of fun. The monster battles were awesome. My screening gave away free T-shirts of the two titans. I got one!

It's beyond me that people expect a movie like this to a Oscar type of film. It's just gonna be a film you have a good time with.
Winning an OSCAR is not a sign for me that a movie is for me. Everybody has a different point of view. Everybody likes different things. I think we all need to accept that nobody has the same opinion than we have ourself. Every opinion is unique.
I agree. This movie is honestly way better than the previous Godzilla King of Monsters and Godzilla Vs Kong. This movie is meant to give people a good time by showing epic cgi scenes. And it delivered exactly what it was to do. Overall I really liked that movie, I had a blast 💥

Godzilla is next level in this one. This is the fastest and heaviest hitting version of Godzilla. If this Godzilla would have fought Ghidora he would have tied his wings behind his back using all three heads and hung his ass up like a Christian ornament

Took my 76yr old dad to watch it earlier, he loved it, said the action was great.

Big Monster Battles
Although I would like the movies to be more in line with Skull Island or Godzilla, there is nothing wrong with having an alternative like this, I wouldn't want the franchise to be only like Minus One or Godzillaxkong, having both is the best
It was incredible. Great entertainment. I even said "Wow!" out loud a few times which never ever happens.
As Old school Godzilla fans, we learned at an early age to tolerate the human story for what it was. As long as it's not boring or an absolute waste of time any point we jump back to human characters, then it's perfectly fine. They are there to be a vehicle for the monster action, and that should be fine.
The philosophical/political implications in the original 1954 Godzilla is what made the film scary and suspenseful. Godzilla was actually the vehicle for the suspense. A lot like Jaws.

I'm seeing it tomorrow night. Been looking forward to this movie. It's one of my top 3 most anticipated movies this year. Plus, more Godzilla is good for me. Doesn't matter if it's meaningful or mindless fun, those two types has always been part of this franchise DNA.
If anyone walks into this expecting some kind of great acting and storytelling from two make believe creatures, that says more about the viewer than the movie 😂

My favorite critics say it when it’s bad, but try to understand why it was bad and where it went wrong.
@@salexa171 yeah, I definitely see your point about the difference between liking something and a positive take. But the other part of your comment doesn’t seem to fit what you’re trying to say. Personally I thought the action in The New Empire looked WAY too much like a videogame and wasn’t all that exciting. I walked out extremely disappointed. But I can see why others might like it. And I understand that people put hours of work into it, but they still got paid for their work, and I have to buy a movie ticket to see it.
As a lifelong Godzilla fan, I have no idea where this need to care about the human characters comes from. You go for the monster battles!

Because the human are there and they usually have more screen time so you do have to watch them.
‘54 Godzilla, Shin and Minus One prove that the human element is key to making a good film. After all, the monster is a reflection of our worst human impulses and fears.
It’s directly proportional to how much screen time they have, if it’s all monsters great, if it’s mostly humans with minus 1 quality great, but the trend for WB has been spending a lot of time with humans who don’t matter.
@FilonisHat to some sure. But as a fan since I was a baby the franchise has always enjoyed a rich variety of styles and approaches. From 54’ to the rest of the Showa era, parts of Heisei and Millennium. There’s always been room for both.

I want something more like we got with Godzilla 2014 and Kong Skull Island: big-name actors, good writing, monsters that behave like giant animals and not giant comic characters. But I think those days are gone.

Their is the show Monarch on Apple TV that is more inline with the tone of 2014.
Cuz 14 they kept cutting away from the monsters they do this epic reveal on Godzilla then you see the fight in a TV screen that pissed me off in theater's same with the end they cut away way too much

Just got out from seeing this in Australia and I 100% agree. If you want Kaiju fights then this is the movie you want to see. I didn't hate the human characters but apart from one in particular they weren't really necessary.

Firstly, I understand why it is called godzilla then kong but these really are Kong stories and barely godzilla ones honestly, it is pretty funny just how Kratos kong is in this movie though. Secondly, Rebecca Hall is one of my most underrated actresses of which... is not on display here but it is what it is (watch Christine, she was robbed of an oscar nomination).

"Minus One" proved that you CAN have a great Godzilla movie with a great story and human characters you actually care about. now that this movie is out, the NEXT legendary zilla movie has no excuse to have bad humans
