Naw John Campea and rocha are more alike than u think. John Campea just doesn’t talk about other stuff than movies.

Not a big fan of Rocha. And his take on the Olympics solidified it. I don't understand how anyone can be on board with some of the imagery in the opening ceremony. You don't have to have kids to recognize right and wrong. I'm fairly liberal socially as well.

I saw it on Monday and had no idea about any of the cameos except sabretooth and pyro. Snipes was the most shocking.

I actually think I might prefer Downey playing actual Victor instead of a variant version, because I think introducing a variant Doom before actual Doom kinda waters down that character and his eventual reveal. And I think there could be something kinda interesting and poetic about Downey playing a villain now. BUT if that is in the case, when the mask comes off he needs to be scarred up enough that we don't recognize him. They need to do with him what they did to Colin in The Batman. He definitely has the range for it.

There are 2 reviewers in my head, the movie lover in me sees the flaws in DP&W but the Marvel mark in me couldn't give a hoot.

Guardians is “not an MCU movie” where Deadpool is almost entirely about the characters and storylines from another studio. Lots of fan service and gobbledygook, but aside from featuring the multiverse it doesn’t seem to be forwarding the big plot for the next avengers movies. It’s entirely as much of its own thing as Guardians is. And yet they are BOTH MCU movies.

I really think that Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from Game of Thrones would’ve been an excellent Dr. Doom. Missed opportunity.

I don’t care much about the controversy it’s the world we live in now, but I’m from England and just for clarification, no we and other members of Europe don’t get our balls out like it’s just a normal day, so no it’s not how people from Europe do things, isn’t John a football fan aswell, we just had the euros, did you notice any players with there balls out? Apart from the ones they use on the pitch, No, so it was clearly a strange artistic choice that didn’t land aswell as they would of liked, nothing to do with them being from Europe

I don't even care about the argument of whether it's "desperate" or not, I think the narrative that the MCU is in major trouble is a little over blown (just my opinion) but even if I completely agreed with that sentiment, fine, they deserve to be a little "desperate" in that case. This RDJ as Doom news is way less about all that for me. My major issue with it is that it feels like a complete bastardization of everything we've gotten with RDJ as Tony Stark/Iron Man before. It feels wrong!!! I hate it!!!

I was never a fan of the Kang Dynasty, so I'm happy we are getting Doctor Doom, way more interesting and intriguing.

Frankly, I think it would’ve been lazy & desperate to bring him back as Iron Man, simply because THAT is what everyone who’s been critical of Marvel’s recent run has been wanting. This is a bold choice. To get the guy who’s arguably the face of the franchise, and have now play a completely new character, and a villain at that? Sparks more convo and debate than simply bringing him back as the character we’ve seen him play over a decade. And no, I still can’t agree that this undercuts Stark’s story and death at all. Variant or not, it’s not really a “cheat code.” Bringing him back to life: THAT is a cheat code. Getting another possible version of him with a completely different life experience that happens relatively off-screen? To me, That has zero bearing on the decade-long story we watched of Tony Stark. If you just don’t like the multiverse, oh well. It is what it is. That’s comics, and frankly, this is the story they’ve chosen to tell, and that’s just part of the parameters. Has the saga worked? I’ll agree, no. But there obviously it has had its moments. Shit, we’re fresh off a $400+ million dollar opening weekend that is ALL multiversal shenanigans. IF RDJ is playing a variant or whatever, I do like the idea of legacy characters/heroes like Spidey, or Sam or Thor running up against him, and seeing how much he looks like Tony… Or maybe even Pepper, Morgan, and Happy? Or they just don’t address it, and he’s just simply a Doom from another universe who just HAPPENS to look like RDJ/Tony Stark. Either way, we have no choice but to wait and see because we honestly don’t know. And for what it’s worth, he’s fresh off an Oscar for playing a villainous role, and a tv series where he plays FOUR wildly different characters at once. He clearly has the chops. And also, when the Russo’s introduced RDJ on stage, they explicitly say that he is playing VICTOR VON DOOM. But of course we still have to see how they build to him (there are still quite a few films in between before, maybe we’ll get glimpses before or during F4) and what aspects of his origins they adapt. Previous multiversal entries like a Loki, Multiverse of Madness, No Way Home, Quantumania, and a Deadpool/Wolverine have all established a variety of examples of what variants can be. Loki is probably the biggest example that showed how wildly different each one can be, and how different their life experiences and appearances are. A Victor Von Doom that looks like Stark isn’t far-fetched. And for all the complaints about how certain creative risks and choices haven’t paid off in phases 4 & 5, marvel bringing back the writer and directors who have given them FOUR of their best and most successful movies, is a good move IMO. People have been clamouring for them to come back, just as much as some of the former actors. Marvel is clearly trying to have it both ways: taking creative risks AND bringing back fan favorite talent. Is it a Hail Mary play? Yes. Desperate? I guess? But to me this is such a more interesting choice that illicits more discussion and theorizing than if they just cast some other actor, or announced RDJ as Iron Man. You can hate it. You can love it. But the one thing that you can't say, is that it's not interesting. It's got everyone's curiosity. This video, among many others either celebrating it or criticizing, are all proof of that. Marvel JUST dropped one of their biggest movies in years; made all the money so far, provided the fan-service, all of that.... And NOBODY is talking about it anymore. Because Marvel decided to drop a bomb about ANOTHER one of their movies that doesn't drop for 2 years. It's kinda genius when you think about it lol.

Why are you making assumptions when you haven’t seen any of these movies? I think the RDJ casting as Doom is great since we’re in the Multiverse saga. And there are stories in the comics where Tony Stark becomes Doom. Y’all need to chill and wait to see how the story unfolds.

I think you all underestimate the general audience that is used to seeing an actor play different movie roles. They aren't going to not see this because RDJ is in it. And the whole "multiverse confusion" is interesting considering the highest grossing movies since endgame have all dealt with multiverse. Spiderman No Way Home, Dr Strange 2, and now Deadpool & Wolverine. The multiverse movies are the ones making the most money for the MCU right now.

Well, it wouldn't be a show If John Rocha didn't say something stupid, and trying to say that all Europeans are ok with the Olympics Ceremony is laughable. One of the many reasons why I prefer Scott Manz over him. Moving on, Robert Downey Jr coming back as Dr Doom for Avengers Doomsday & Secret Wars is like others have said, desperate. Will I watch him when the movies come out? Yes, of course, but right now, I'm not hyped for the movies. Also if they are going to stick to the release dates of both movies they need to start shooting it either late this year or the beginning of 2025.

Desparately Awesome

I think they should have held onto this even though it was rumored that RDJ was going to come back. It would have been much more impactful if they did this bait and switch in Doomsday. Make people think that Doom is going to be played by someone else and then at the last frame of the last scene. Make RDJ Doom appear at the last moment and slay the Doom they've had all movie and have him unmask and say "I am Doom" and fade to black. You could have the characters wishing that Tony was here and how much they miss him and how the Avengers isn't the same without him, and then reveal to them that he's back but not in anyway they could have imagined. And then the second movie is the team dealing with the revelation that they see Tony but that's not Tony it's Doom.

The Olympics opening ceremony was a freak show.

I was also hoping to have Kang re-casted with Colman Domingo.

Them saying his name is Victor Von Doom doesn’t rule out it being a Stark variant of some sort
