I just painted a group of kobolds last night. I’ll have to check this out
Nice to get more Kobold minis and adventures out there. The style of the minis is kinda World of Warcraft-like I think- more exaggerated than regular D&D minis, but nice. I'd love if we could someday get an Icons of the Realms mini of another Kobold queen, Yusdrayl - from the Tales of the Yawning Portal adventures. She is just so cute, sitting on her little throne in a dress! And the encounter with her can end peacefully, too. Heck, even the famous Meepo is in this encounter!
I hope someone from Steamforged games are reading these comments, if so please keep sending products for Theo and Grady to review! I'm sure it's obvious in the quality of videos that your company made a great choice in sending them this product to review! I know I will be checking this out and from reading others comments I am far from the only one!
This set looks great and I look forward to the boss box!!!
Noted! We loved this video!
@@Steamforged love your product, just bought hall of the orc king and am having an absolute blast!
I love this set! Thanks for the useful reviews... almost at 10.000....
They deserve way more as great as their videos always are!
Almost there! :-) Thank you, Matt! -Theo
I absolutely love the thought that went into this product. As a DM and miniature gamer it will be exciting to reveal each of these models to my players rather then constantly reusing the same three kobold models in my collection over and over again. Gnolls, goblins, and werebeasts of all kind are the first to come to mind for future releases. Although my top pick would be a spirits and specters graveyard/tomb encounter box.
So many kobold themed DnD things this month. Even I've got a kobold themed ark in my DnD game I've been running
I have a kobold themed dungeon coming up in my campaign pretty soon as well.
As my dad always says,
What a coinkydink
Can't wait to see what's next from this product line!
Thanks, Gadfly! -Theo
I was comparing the miniatures alone to what you would pay for Deep Cuts minis (usually $5 for 2 minis in a blister)--which is very reasonable IMO. With 20 figures included, this is comparably priced and actually a little cheaper than if you bought all the minis from, say, Deep Cuts since you also get the game support elements like the map(s) and adventure material; that, and the fact that some larger stuff like the basilisk type creature would be $5 or so from Deep Cuts---again very reasonable IMO.
I have been eyeing this just for the minis!
Fun idea! I hadn't heard of this product line yet, so thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Thanks for watching! -Theo
@@TheGallantGoblin These reviews are outstanding! We will be using affiliate links in the future 👍🏻
@@DrAndrewJBlack That's very kind of you! Thank you! -Theo
These boxes are such a great idea! Even if you're not going to run the module then it's great getting a collection of a creature so whenever you need them you have a full uniform set. But having all the miniatures ready to run the module (bar PCs) is even cooler.
Yeah, getting a kobold warband is going to be useful for a lot of different games! -Theo
This product is very interesting, having the minis and the adventure in one box is perfect! I'm looking foward to the next review, aaand the review of cats and catacombs, of course hahaha
Thank you, Gamarishi! Oh man, we've been sitting on Cats and Catacombs for awhile. We need to start doing polls on what people want us to prioritize. -Theo
I like the concept! An adventure module that comes with it's own miniatures! The price is okay. Would be even better with a $40.00 price tag. Looking forward to see what else they will come up with.
Looks awesome, thanks as always guys!
Thanks, Joseph! -Theo
@@TheGallantGoblin thanks to you guys for your hard work entertaining us, hope you and Grady are staying safe my friend!
I wish it was like 10 dollars cheaper. =/
I’m very interested, but I would definitely need a painting guide lol. This is a really good idea, especially if they’re all one shots.
Check out some of those pre-order deals online, Tromboner98. ;-) -Theo
This is a great idea and we need more of these!
More on the way! -Theo
Great value!
I plan on buying all 4 of these that they have released thus far. Steamforged, keep these coming!!
The next two look really interesting too! A goblin village and a hydra! -Theo
I love your collection of t-shirts!
Thank you! Some of them are available in our merch store if you want them yourself! www.redbubble.com/people/gallantgoblin/explore?page=1&sortOrder=recent
You're the fastest new of the d&d and RPG u ever seen, it's hard to know all the news details of new product, let keep this up, forever and ever, good day
Thank you, Ricardo! -Theo
This will be great for me, as i'm planning on having my intro adventure be a kobolds vs goblins adventure.
Oh excellent! Good luck! -Theo
Steamforged recommended your video in their live stream unboxing and I wasn’t disappointed; an excellent review!
My vote goes to having an undead theme for their next encounter. The minion box = skeletons, zombies, flame skulls and a death knight. The boss box = a lich and a zombie troll. The adventure is essentially trying to locate and destroy the lich’s phylactery from within a ruined cathedral/catacombs.
Oh very cool. Thanks for letting me know. Welcome to the channel! We do have a full undead mini set coming from Wizkids in March 2021, but I’m always up for a good lich fight! -Theo
Now this looks like a cool encounter to buy.
These look brilliant, I had an preorder email a week or two ago and was sceptical but all those are set aside. A great review, good sculpted minis and the maps looks pretty cool too. Looking forward to the follow up review and seeing that dragon.
My only gripe with the product is I'm not to too fond of the bright red mini colour but that maybe down to the studio lights.
Awesome as always 🤘🧙♂️🤘
Thanks, DMD! It's a great set, for sure. And if the color does bug you, gives you an excuse to practice your mini painting skills! -Theo
@@TheGallantGoblin I honestly wish I had the time to paint minis, finding free time at the moment is extremely rare. I would love nothing more than to try a had at the manticore you showcased the other week. Personally though due to time and funds I'm moving towards the paper and acrylic 2d minis even though I really want to sink my teeth into new Icewind Dale repainted line.
Fuck these look so good. I was already interested when they announced this new line but now I'm probably gonna pick these up. Also great video as usual guys, always love em :)
Thanks, Tyler! -Theo
tbh i love that they all seem like encounters and dungeons that go well into any dnd 5e adventure like my tomb of horrors game, snakefolk? yes! jungle gobbos? Yes! Red Dragon? Yes! KOBOLDS?! YES!!!! even if i dont play the adventure right away u have nice models to paint and use!
Would love a set like this focusing on Mind Flayers (Illithids). The sculpts look great and it's not easy to get your hands on Illithid minis at a reasonable price these days. Great review however - will be ordering this ASAP.
Oh, that's a great idea! I'd love to see that too! Thank you very much! -Theo
Now that I think about it, Mind Flayers aren’t in the open content agreement for third parties to use, so Wizards would have to make or authorize it themselves. -Theo
I like kobolds, they're cool!
We do too! -Theo
The Gallant Goblin ayy kobold buddies!
A weterat box? Yes, yes, and yes please! That's a tremendous idea Theo!
Personally I would love to see a Goblin and Troll adventure or maybe a Hag set! I would really love to see a rural adventure where maybe some hedge wizard/farmer is building scarecrows or maybe straw/ or flesh golems to keep the local Lords tax collector from selling off the rural wizards farm. A frost giant adventure would be cool as well
Hey, that's a fun idea too, Joseph! -Theo
@@TheGallantGoblin LOL which of the 5 LOL? I always have a tendency to go overboard with my ideas whenever you ask us a question like that. I wonder, have you guys ever used a comment you liked in one of your games?
Personally if I ever run a Theros game I'm definitely going to use the quest idea I gave you guys for the contest using the inspiration from the Neil Gaimen story arc from the Sandman books, I really think it would be a fun and extremely memorable
50 for 20 minis and an adventure isn't bad. I imagine it'll be cheaper on most sites. Kobolds are missing in my current collection so I might pick this up over reaper or wizkids ones. Could you put more size comparison next time? Maybe line up the different sculpts with other kobolds you have and Reaper's Sir For-scale (Garrivk the Bold)? They seem a bit large for kobold but look cool enough that it wouldn't matter. Thanks for the review.
Fair point. We’ll do that in our video for the next Epic Encounter set later in the week! Thanks for the suggestion! -Theo
What is the Quality / Detail of the minis?? Please and thank you
Have you ever thought of reviewing creature caster? It's a more well known mini company known for its crazy 5-7 inch tall demons. I am asking cause I am gonna come across some money and was wondering if you heard of them. The cheaper ones 59$ so no hauling these ones
Super detailed though if a little adult themed but they deserve a shout-out cause they are good.
The name rings a bell, but I haven't seen any of their minis in person before. I'll go do some research! Thanks for the tip! -Theo
@@TheGallantGoblin Won't regret it that's for sure.
Where did you get the kobold shirt!?!?
It's part of our merch store: www.redbubble.com/people/gallantgoblin/explore?page=1&sortOrder=recent
We'll likely move stores to Teespring in the near future but any orders placed through Redbubble will be honored.
This is how Humblewood should have been. It should have been included in a box with minis and maps. I would have bought the heck out of it (assuming they didn’t overcharge)
Well, they do have various bundles with maps and standees. Minis are separate though. I do have a video review of the various Humblewood sets that I've been working on here for awhile. I need to finish it up and publish it! -Theo
The Gallant Goblin Humblewood always sounded fun, but I was never interested because out of the hundreds of miniatures I own, not a single one of them sounded like they could be used.
Can you play these with a new GM and 2 new players?
A new GM should definitely be able to run it. It gives more guidance than most 5e adventures so you should have all the info you need. Most games are balanced for parties of around 4, so you may want to use the lowest difficulty level provided and let the 2 characters be a bit higher level than recommended (unless you mean you have more than 2 players and only 2 are new). Another option is to let people run multiple characters, but I wouldn't recommend that for new players.
Depending on their tolerance for character death, you can also pull some punches if it looks like the scenario is tuned too hard, or you can introduce the concept of characters possibly dying early to get them used to the idea, as long as you discuss the scenario and what to expect ahead of time, like "We're going to try this game but it's designed for more than 2 players. Are you ok with the idea that we give it a try and make the best of it but there's a chance your two heroes may die and fail? If not, what sort of game experience would you like to have?"
I know you want to show off the booklet, but standing it like that causes me physical pain. Can I send you a stand or something?
Haha, I understand. Honestly, when I show creative content like that, I try to do a bit to obscure it so I'm not "giving someone's product away for free." I want everyone to see the formatting, but not necessarily be able to read every word on the page easily. I usually use perspective to achieve that effect, but I can play around with other ideas. Thanks for the feedback! -Theo
@@TheGallantGoblin Oh no, showing the open book was fine. It's standing it up on its pages for the final set shot that hurt!
