A note from Jakob (the editor) on video gear:
There are a lot of things we use to make videos that I wouldn't recommend people to use for theirs. It's just stuff we had on hand, so it's what we use. That being said, there are things we use that I would recommend, and those are listed below. I'm working on putting together a FULL recommended list of equipment to get your videos looking super sharp. That's coming soon :)

Exciting to hear that you got the new Feist book, hope it lives up to your expectations!
I just finished watching The Last of Us and now I am joining the group of people desperately waiting for S2... what a show!!
Happy reading and watching John 🤩
Welcome to the waiting club for that show. I think there may be different dragons coming up so a tingle name would definitely be in order😀

Oh love the Dragon, currently I am giving The Thursday Murder Club a try. New Author for me, little bit of mystery in London. About 75% through it so far. Its interesting, the people are in a old folks home kind of place and the crap these 4 people get up to if entertaining. Here's hoping it sticks the landing at the end.
That sounds great
Hey guys thanks so very much for sharing your week with us. Your boundless enthusiasm and joy came at a great time for me. Had a bit of a stressful week but this cheered me up 😄didn’t get to read much due to said stressful nature of this week but hope to have a better one soon!
Hoping to finish Tigana by GGK tomorrow and start Birth of an Empire by Conn Igullden on Wednesday (my first by this author). Weekly reader is becoming a favorite Sunday evening tradition of mine. I was listening in the car and had to make a Sonic stop to get a Dr Pepper because I’ll be damned if I don’t have a frosty beverage to go with my weekly reader.
John- I love how you give previews about books in such a way that gives more context to the book than is typical from the average book recommendation without spoiling it. You might be the best at promoting books on booktube!
Also- I love the meta-narrative developing that John is replacing Jakob with Pooh. It’s a great running joke
Cheers!
@@theclassy4 frosty beverage is a must and Mr Pooh says it is Jakob that tries to replace him for a while but thankfully that part of his life is over😂. Thanks so much all the kind words seriously.

Howling Dark and Demon in White were so good! I'd have to reread them to really say which one was better. I have the Kingdoms of Death in my TBR next month.
I'm coming up on the end of Chapter 12 in The Blood Stones, it is really good.
If you can squeeze in a book, why wouldn't you?
So proud of Jakob for finishing a book and filling out that shelf!
I am wrapping up Demon in White tomorrow. All I can say is mind blown.
I read only one book this week. Empire of Silence. And it was awesome all the way. I absolutely loved it. It probably was the slowest book i ever read though. Anyway it will probably win book of the month. Next week im gonna read Red Country by Joe Abocrombe. Can't wait of town square. And happy reading to you
Town Square is always a party! Happy Reading to you as well my friend.
I haven't done a whole lot of reading this week. I sacrificed some reading time in order to write more of my book and play some games with my cousin.
BUT! I did finish Demon in White and The Lesser Devil, and I have only 100 pages left of Kingdoms of Death. I've had a very Christopher Ruocchio and Neil Schusterman focused month lol.
So far, my ranking of the Sun Eater books is this:
1. Howling Dark
2. Kingdoms of Death (this may become number 1 once I finish it though)
3. Demon in White
4. Empire of Silence
I can't wait for you to get to Kingdoms! It's much more tightly plotted and grimdark than the previous three! Also excited for the September TBR! Hoping for Royal Assassin, Kingdoms of Death, and Of War and Ruin!
P.S. I joined at Weekly Reader 50 lol. I subscribed instantly, and you guys have become one of my favorite channels, along with 2toRamble, Mike, and Wera!

Wow, you should've been in the nursing home yesterday, my friend 😂
This week I read:
*Comics*
Thor God of Thunder: God Butcher
Written by Jason Aaron | Art by Esad Ribic
- I finally got around to reading the whole thing, Fantastic! Someone is going around the universe slaying deities, and we see that individual's affect on Thor in 3 stages of his life, the young warrior not yet worthy of Mjolnir, the current Thor, and Thor the Old King of Asgard and we see Thor grapple with his own divinity and striving to be a god worthy of worship. I'm not religious, I'm not spiritual but I'd follow Marvel's Thor.
*Fantasy*
Wars of Light & Shadow 2: Ships of Merior
- Brilliant. Can't wait to continue!
As for what I'm currently reading:
*Comics*
Astonishing X-Men Complete Collection Volume 1
Written by Joss Whedon | Art by John Cassaday
- I read bits here and there as a kid but now I'm going back to the beginning. I've dipped my toes here and there over the years as the X-Men comics always intimidated me (despite my love of the cartoons and films, well some of them) but I'm finally doing it.
Green Lantern Book One
Written by Geoff Johns | Art by Ethan Van Scriver
- I read Secret Origins years ago which really endeared me to Hal cuz growing up my Green Lanterns were Alan Scott because I was reading Justice Society and John Stewart because of the cartoons.
*Fantasy*
Malazan BotF 2: Deadhouse Gates (re-read)
- Culling of nobles, religious uprising, and a refugee crisis await the Malazan Empire!
*Mystery*
Mystic River / Dennis Lehane
Not much else going on with me other than passing my weight loss goal for the year.

It’s actually not that long so i can just post it here. Here’s something I wrote for practice:
The pale specter, no longer human, never could have been human, rode out of the smoke , out of a burning hellfire that could be made only by something as pure evil as the devil itself. Over the cackling laughter of the eternal flame he could hear the beat of hooves, made both now, and he knew made long before, in another time, a time before he was, a time before the continents were, a time before time itself was.
A burning inferno surrounded them. The thing on the other side of this ring, it looked like a being of Hell in the shape of a man, but a man it could not be, for it was death incarnate.
And he knew he stood no chance. For how could one fight the Hand of the God of Death? He knew he would be cut down by this creature as old as the earth itself. The wrath of the God had been sleeping, and man had been the only thing that could’ve woke it. A deep laugh cut through the sound of the inferno, a mocking laugh. Man’s folly has angered the Gods, and Hell was now here because of it. Death is all that now remains.
@@ryanthornton8159 dude you certainly have a style and it for sure evokes imagery for me. I would recommend you show that to someone who could help you hone your craft. A writing teacher of some kind. If the work of writing brings you joy I would say to keep going no doubt!
Damn Jakob is surpassing my reading lately, but my week was awful overall. I'm trying to listen to Suicide Forrest by Jeremy Bates, not far in so I can't really say my opinion on it.
@@jenn9027 you have a lot going on. The reading will come back.
@@Talking_Story long hiatus, I'm falling behind.
