Glad you enjoyed Dawnshard, definitely one of those Cosmere keystones connecting lots of things. And you have me pumped to pick up Service Model soon!
I will be 200 pages in by days end and I recommend you grab it!

@@Talking_Story Have Jakob superimpose your voice/mouth over Pooh's mouth while he's sitting at the desk, 10/10 content

Another great video! =) You make me very excited to finish Mistborn Era 1 and get deeper into the Cosmere! Dawnshard sounds very interesting. Also random tv show rec since you're done with the Boys: I highly, HIGHLY recommend The Bear on Hulu. It's difficult to describe, because it's about more than just running a restaurant. It's about people, as cliche as that sounds, in a very raw and honest way.
I do hear great things about that show. I will add it to the list thanks! Also thanks so much for the wonderful compliment.
@jakob - try finding Pong... that has the correct number of mapped buttons for your dad :D
Love Pong!!
"Let's start off with what you got read"... this will make my accomplishments seem even grander :D (Jakob: Don't let him say "put your weiny on a stick" again, thanks) John, was it anymore relaxing not having to worry about being shot with a Nerf gun? Also, I really want to read Service Model. And completely off topic... (starts chant) Elden Ring! Elden Ring! Elden Ring!
@@gryftkin not responding to that chant😂. Nope not gonna do it. I am afraid he is planning something with my wife regarding the dart gun.
Congrats on surviving the moving madness!! Hope that Jakob settles in soon and that you will adjust to a quieter home (though let's admit it, you bring enough life to the party yourself hahah) 🤣 It's insane how much reading you got done this busy week! I totally agree that Dawnshard is an exceptional shorter work by Sanderson. And I am gonna have to catch up on that replay of the Oathbringer discussion, every time I watch a Cosmere related video I learn new stuff hahaha. My week was weird. My grandma passed away last Monday evening, but she had been weak and ill so long that her passing honestly felt more like a blessing than anything else. The cremation is tomorrow, and I figure that is when some emotions will come loose, but so far it's been just very weird, as I said. Thank all that is holy for good escapism, both in book form and here on booktube. Thanks for the comfort and joy ❤
@@esmayrosalyne I am sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you have all the space and time you need to process. I was raised a great deal by my grandparents and I think of them so often. We will do our best to keep you distracted with silliness and books when you need it.
Hopefully the man in back doesn't say everyone attack and it turns into a ballroom blitz.

And I think I like it! "I'm just disappointed" bahahahahahaha
Glad we gave you smile!
I need to read more of Stephen King's short fiction. I find that I get tired of longer novels lately, and I feel King should work so much better in a shorter format. Good to see you're enjoying your first Tchaikovsky! That's the way he seems to operate, is he takes a trope, then goes "how far can I take this?" and proceeds to make a banger. This week I got up to 2/3 through Curse of the Mistwraith; some stuff is about to seriously go down, and I cannot wait for the other shoe to drop. I also read the novel N.P. by Banana Yoshimoto, which is the kind of mundane-turned-surreal character study novel I've grown to love and seems particularly Japanese in a way. Then the fourth omnibus volume of the manga Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou by Hitoshi Ashinano, which brought the series up from four to five stars for me, and possibly my favorite manga series I've ever read. I've preordered the fifth and final omnibus which releases at the end of this month. August will be bittersweet.
Favorite manga of all time that is crazy high praise. Let me know how the Mistwraith wraps up for you. Stephen King's short stuff I feel is some of his strongest. Try Different Seasons if you haven't yet.
@@Talking_Story Different Seasons, I'll definitely check that out on my next library run. I think what makes YKK such a special manga for me is that it grew on me, and started with a premise that was already so interesting to me (an ageless android running a coffee shop in a climate post-apocalypse), and then over time deepened thematically until it's become a meditation on aging, entropy, love, attachment, etc. There's no particular plot, just pure vibes, and the vibes are ridiculously strong.

@@tomahawkchop7669 I’m with you the ending knock down drag out went on a bit but overall the unease of the set up and the philosophy and explanation of what they were going through made for a fun Lovecraftian space read. It's so good to have a channel which is just sunshine here on CZcams. Thank you for the amazingly good vibes only! Btw. I got a suggestion for an AWESOME show: The German show "Dark" on Netflix. I'm with Jakob, I read nothing. Friend came over on Thursday so I missed the epic game playing, but I'm like you playing games, I'm awful, I sold all my systems because I didn't need the frustration of controller throwing. And I worked overtime so I was pretty much spent for 6 days. I watched the boys, kumiko 😢, she happens to be my favorite. The Supernatural lines from Bobby were nostalgia for me. I think it is confirmed that Jared will be in the next season. I finished up part 1 of Cobra Kai, pissed that they're releasing in 3 parts and the next one is in November, and part 3 is spring of 2025, so we're waiting at least 4 months for 5 episodes, I don't mind at max 6 weeks, but 4 freaking months, is netflix out of its mind?! After this long of a wait from season 5, remember when tv shows had 22/23 episodes a season, with less than a year between, and studios can't even drop this all right now!! And its not like there's a lot of great new content like in the past, especially if there are kid actors because you notice the growth spurt (jace from hotd). Ok, I'll stop ranting. @@heidi6281 I have watched the first 2 or 3 season and I could not agree with you more. He is a fellow Texan and an extremely talented performer!
Cahill is a great mix of plot and characters but no where near as good a character writer as Hobb in my opinion. Hobb let’s plot fall to the wayside while focusing on the nuances of humans. I also was worried at the start of Of Darkness and Light because it started of so fast. I am so happy you loved Dawnshard, that seems to be an unpopular opinion. I also have added Service Model to my TBR because the scene you described reminds me of a scene in Short Circuit if you ever watched that delightful film. I ended up reading The Wickwire Watch, I loved the way it depicted that feeling of loneliness when you feel that there is no one you can trust, and the first three Rain Wild Chronicles books. No I didn’t blaze through them because I loved them- I got through them because I skimmed the portions where Hobb is perfectly describing the thought process of teenage lust (I am well acquainted with the subject- I don’t want to hear it described to me over the course of 1,000 pages). I ended reading less because I addicted to One Piece as of the current moment. It is stunningly good and I did not expect such deep themes to come up with things like othering, what makes a man, and there have even been moments of self-harm which deeply shocked me because I took this series as a kids show- not quite sure I agree with past me I can’t wait for the talking with Toobers and Town Square. You guys should try Cuphead as a game for the two you together (It’s my go to game to play with my dad) but Jackbox sounds wonderful too since that gets some great laughs. Anyways, the rambling is complete. Have a great day!
@@CombativeRoboGuy yes can’t compare with Hobb going off of what I have heard. Can’t wait to read her myself! His characters make me wanna come back and see what they get up to next and how they respond to pressure the plot puts them under. But it is not a multilayered, 3 dimensional look at character as I have heard Hobb delivers. You nailed with the mix of plot and character. I gotta get back to One Piece. Are you reading or watching?
@@Talking_StoryI’ve been watching it while skipping any filler arcs I come across. I don’t think that I would have enjoyed it as much as I do without the music and voice acting- just hearing the music swell while the characters triumph feels so powerful but I understand some of the voices could be annoying. I would love to hear your thoughts if you get to Arlong Park because that is where I felt One Piece really start to show it’s colors.
@@CombativeRoboGuy I plan on getting back. I was struck with you with the mix of storytelling methods and depth of theme even in the first 3 volumes.
@@CombativeRoboGuy by the way I hope your CZcams launch has been a blast for you my friend!
@@Talking_StoryAlso, what do you think of Cobra Kai after season three? I loved the early seasons but then felt it got so much more dramatic and that core of security from learning technique and honing skill felt lost after the old head of Cobra Kai was beat then came back (maybe I imagined that and maybe I’m just alone in that thought)
This is going to be Empire of the Vampire all over again - you hyping Cahill is why I'm going to end up reading the guy's stuff. I don't think I bothered to comment last week, but nice to see Jakob finally hooked you up with some sound effects for the Patreon plug 😂 Hopefully Spear Cuts Through Water makes it through!
@@OnlyTheBestFantasyNovels we will see I will get to that 1 if it wins or not. I so respect how he swung for the fences in Vanished Birds. I absolutely will see what he does after!
@@Talking_Story Hopefully it wins! I know you liked Vanished Birds, I can confirm he gets even more creative in Spear Cuts Through Water!
@@OnlyTheBestFantasyNovels that is wonderful to hear.
