I got a Gomexus knob for my Saragosa. I can't say enough good things about it. Holding up to all the salt and BS I put it through and feels better and looks great.
I saw you link those knobs the other week so I ordered some and there 1000 times better than the stock shimano "t-knob". I appreciate you putting this product on my radar.
Thanks for the pointers! Definitely going to swap out the bearings in my Gomexus for the factory Daiwa bushes, so much nicer! Less buggerizing around seating up the shims too!
I broke my handle today while fighting a tog. I ordered a replacement from Amazon. Wish I seen this sooner. And I did land him. 17.5" right into the cooler.
back to the drawing board. The handle i purchased from Amazon is a pos. It stated it was for my BG4000 but i can see after the install its not going to hold up for the beating I put on it Togging. Wasted 20.00.
Sweeet!! Looks like you took a tool from my book!! Awesome job! If there’s anyone that I would want to share gomexus knobs with it would be with you!! I wonder if I inspired you at all 🤔🤔
Hey man! I've know about gomexus and have put em on friends reels awhile back... I have purchased I think 7 different products of theirs and have zero complaints 3 handle setups and these 2 knobs most recently.
Tackle Advisors oh yeah!! You had the double handed paddle in the past and some other stuff like the kick stand too I thought.. hmm.. oh yeah how do you feel about me sending you a Vanford for a collaboration in someway maybe have you break it down or something? Idk something to think about
I kinda helped get Gomexus to the German market, got some stuff from them in return. Pretty neat stuff honestly. My little 1k Stradic Ci4+ looks like a Transformer now :^)
Cool! They contacted me about future content resulting from this video... (gomexus Japan... Which I thought was interesting... The Japan part anyway ) I don't mind putting out knob swap vids.. But I'd want a paycheck not just free knobs lol.. They do make an excellent product
@@TackleAdvisors ye they make some more different products too. For example, I got a Reelstand, which is basically a pin you swap in for the counter nut (if you can call it that) so you can put your combo down without sand getting on the reel or scratching up the nice new knob :^)
Would you be able to make a video on swapping one out with the rivet? Just got myself a Gomexus knob too trying to install on my Shimano Tekota 600 (the previous generation to new, silver and gold one). Thank you for this video!!
Do you have a certain brand of berings you're buying for the handles in case you need some? Or just sticking to daiwa/shimano knob bearings? I have tried so much garbage on ebay.
The traxis 10 pack isn't horrible expect a dud or two.. But they're cheap... But shims are the most important thing.. Most bushings spin as smooth as bearings. I've found removing the lateral slop with shims is what really makes the difference
Can someone please answer this question: What are the top 5 best saltwater spinning reels for under 150, preferably in order. Thanks in advance to anyone who gives their list, especially you tackle advisor :)
Ok, not sure about the price, depends of size probably, but this would be my list: 1 Shimano Spheros 2 Okuma Azores Blue 3 Shimano Stradic (5000) 4 Penn Spinfisher 6 5 Daiwa BG
@@TommysRaw You're welcome, the reel is completely sealed against seawater intrusion, it has hagane gears with x-ship construction (check out shimano website for explanation) basically its a saragossa with one less bearing ;). also check out Alan Hawk website for reel reviews. Good luck!
Good point... I glossed over that... The Daiwa screw had a good amount left on it so I didn't even think about it... And yeah.. If there isn't any thread locker on it.. Definitely apply it
If you're going to do the Shimano Saragosa SW your going to need the 45mm or 47mm Gomexus power knob. The handle shaft is 4.7mm not 4mm. If I am not mistaken
Looking at switching out that same knob on my Daiwa Eliminator. The Daiwa knob is a little oversized at both ends. To reduce some of the bulk from the ends of the knob, which size would you recommend? I'm trying to match it closer to my power handles on my ambassadeur reels.
Couldn’t get their handle to work or fit on my BG -MQ 2500. After 2 hours of frustration and no instructions on how or what to do next I put the stock handle back on. Won’t order from them again.
You should make a video where you put canola oil or a different cooking oil in a reel and see if it works. Always wondered whether I could use olive oil in my bearings lol
@@TackleAdvisors i would like to know if i can put a shim on the base of original knob of my new BG black and gold to eliminate the free play. Thank you
Hey I'm in the market for a new freshwater spinning reel.. 4000-5000 size im considering the daiwa procyon, bg mq, shimano vanford or the stradic ci4+.. I want something thats a close to bulletproof as possible.. Thanks to anyone with advice
Three things to note on this installation: 1/ No drilling is required like the original/non monocoque BG 2/ This new handle is way too small to properly grip or increase leverage 3/ The new handle is butt ugly! As always Tackle Advisors is insightful and informative, but dude, I think that new handle has caused mild blindness.
Some people prefer a smaller knob... I don't need leverage on a 6k sized reel. I want easy to grip and the ability to change arm /wrist angles... It feels good but time will tell
I've been watching your channel for so long, I've got one thing always bothers me is that your size 0 wera driver isn't philips, it's PZ. I don't think any finishing gear is fitted with PZ screws. I know the PZ driver still works fine on PH screws, but they do fit a bit loose and shears the screw head more than the PH drivers as PH drivers will fit better. Just a thing to call, not a deal breaker or anything serious.
Here's the crazy thing... The size 0 pz Lazer tip from wera fits better than a jis Philips bit... Otherwise I'd use that... Thousands of screws... Never damaged a single head... Even painted /coated screws... Thread locked... Soft metal screws.. I've used others... Once I found this one... I stopped searching. Philips screwdriver bits are designed to cam out... I know pz bits are a bit different but the pz driver oddly won't cam out
@@TackleAdvisors Interesting to know. I must try the PZ sometime in the future as well. I do own the PH version of the Wera Lazer tip, and I do notice from time to time it leaves a bit sharpened edge on the screw head. Thanks for the tips!
these guy trashes abu reels (toro beast etc) but the reels like tranx, calcutta the reel he likes doesnt even have a synchronized line guide witch all abu reels have
Synchronized level wind hampers casting performance and can be an issue if the tag ends up in the spool... I like the beast 40...the previous version wasn't very impressive... Plus abu is doyo.. Shimano actually designs and manufactures their own product..
@@TackleAdvisors how does it hampers casting?? i can feel how the line grinds in high speed against the line guide (i own a calcutta d 300)....compered to abu it is almost silent since it goes with the flow
Non disengaging level wind reels have a gear on the non handle side of the spool that turns and idler that then turns the worm which in many cases is supported by bushings as well as the pawl... I have a few hotrodded non dlw reels that bomb.. But not as far as open framed reels... In some cases distance loss isn't much in others it is.. Just a function of design

You should make a video of all the reels or combos that you recommend from all budgets : )
Is there a video for how to improve the slack/travel on the T-shape knobs on the LT wheels?…
I shimmed mine with a rubber braces band, has a nice bouncy, but still free spinning feel now.
It's not standard, but works for me....

What size knob for the bg mq 10000?
I just got my BG8000 . How can I change handle right to left ?? Thanks
Do you know if the handleknob swap for the BG Magsealed is as easy as on the MQ, or is it like on the BG standard?

can we switch the handle on the right side?
Can i put a shim at the base of the knob to avoid the free play on the classic BG?

If you buy a handle knob like that you should get a free bowl of soup (or at least the matching nail polish). Looks good on you though.
Is this applicable to BG16 4500? planning to change mine to power knob, thank you
What are your thoughts on replacing the internal reel bearings with sealed bearings
Meh... Internal bearings..which are pretty limited... I don't use see the benefits
Will these fit baitcasting reels?
how do you remove the Certate LT knob?
Can you do a review on the bg mq 14000

what size is this knob?

Can you install this knob the same way on a regular BG?
No..gotta drill the rivet and buy a knob with a matching screw on stud
Hey. This has nothing to do with this vid. But do you think that shimano stradic fl. Bettet then the stradic ci4+.. for fresh water
Aside from overall weight and weight in the rotor favoring the ci4 the FL is an improvement... Vanford improves on the ci4
