The exact function of the muzzle attachments in Rainbow Six Siege has been a source of speculation over the last 3 years with many community members attempting to find out how these devices work and what their individual strengths are. The problem is that recoil is randomised in R6 and that has made it basically impossible to understand the exact stat modifiers of each attachment. But now, Ubisoft has finally revealed how each attachment works, allowing us a much better insight into which attachment will work best on which gun. Let's go and have a closer look!

No smoke trails.
No white threat indicators.
-15% damage.
Good for headshot players.
Good for roamers.
Flash hider:
-37.5% first shot recoil.
-30% centering time.
5% smaller recoil diamond.
Reduced muzzle flash.
Good middle ground between muzzle break & compensator; for guns with strong 1st shot recoil & unfavorable horizontal recoil.
Good for bursters.
Compensator:
17.75% smaller recoil diamond.
Good for fast firing weapons with lots of horizontal recoil.
Good for sprayers.
Muzzle break:
-45% first shot recoil.
-45% centering time.
Excellent for semi-auto weapons.
Decent for bursters.
Extended barrel:
Damage drop off start extended by 20%.
Mostly useless.

Doctor Jones extended is good for spawn peaking and has a very high advantage to it
doahl besides that it’s useless and you aren’t gonna spawn peak every round with every operator you play as, a different attachment performs much better over the long run anyway and I can pick you just the same with Jäger with and without extended barrel

Handguns have a lower mobility Stat so you can run I think 5% faster then with your primary
Mobility has been confirmed by the developers that it means nothing

Cause they pretty much put a matching description for every muzzle attachment.There is literally nothing surprising here. Not a single weapon attachment i will be changing.
There's only so much info they can put into the game itself. Imagine they start taking about recoil diamonds and stat modifiers... I think many casual players could be overwhelmed.

LoL will run on pretty much any computer, you could probably get an old Optiplex for like $50 and it would run fine.

That proves that I did make good choices to put compensators on many of the guns just to kill the horizontal recoil as much as possible while having flash hiders and muzzle breaks just for those with very little horizontal recoils.

Huh. So the in-game recoil sheets are still not accurate? Because if I look at Buck's C8 for instance, vertical spread with the Muzzle Break is also reduced for the 3rd and later shots, which shouldn't be the case according to this info. Or did I get something wrong? In addition, the Compensator doesn't show any reduction in vertical spread, when in truth it should shrink the diamond in all directions?
(3rd shot spread height on the graph without attachments: about 1.8 blocks; with Compensator: about 1.8 blocks; with Muzzle Break: about 1.2 blocks)
EDIT: Okay, I ran a short test and yes, the sheets are lying. Sometimes they lie really hard (like on Hibana's Type-89).

What attachment do you run with Bucks AR?
I used to run Muzzle Break, but since I full-auto a lot I switched every weapon capable of auto firing (including C8) to Compensator, or Flash Hider where there is no Comp available. Haven't tried all weapons yet, and it depends on your play style / preference.
After a longer conversation on reddit I feel like something is generally wrong here. On some weapons, attachments just flat out don't do what they're supposed to do, or do it worse than an attachment which isn't supposed to do that job.
If you really want to find the best attachments for all weapons, I guess there's no way around trying them out one by one and deciding for yourself...
I think I'm switching to mainly Flash Hider until I know what the hell is going on.
I did some tests once and actually found a lot of the patterns to be quite accurate.
You're right though, there are some mistakes sometimes.
As for the muzzle brake affecting later shots, I would say that could be a knock on effect. The recoil stacks from bullet to bullet, so if the second impact is moved a lot, then the displacement for each following shot is stacked op top of that. Imo, this would explain why even just a first shot benefit still makes following shots better.

I honestly think mobility affects ADS time. You aim in slower with an LMG than you do with a pistol or SMG, and so on.

Ok Ik this video was about a year but I finally understand what barrel attachments do now since watching this. To top it all off, muzzle break is good for slow firing weapons and to center you’re shots for the body (this apply’s to high damage weapons). Compensator is good for spraying, high rate of fire weapons, and also if ur missing ur shots or flinch easily because of the high fire rate (easier to explain compensator is good for spraying and flinch accuracy). Flash hider is good for peak advantage therefore making it good for players to react quickly for spawn peeks and window peeking (doesn’t matter which gun to put it for if u going for peek advantage)

i did the math myself for only vertical recoil.
Muzzle break is a go to cohice for semi-automatic guns.
Flash Hider is for short burst up to 4 shots. at 4th shot flash hider and compensator will be same.
Compensator is great after 4th shot.
Before picking any of them be aware for some guns have horizontal recoil so compensator might be better for them.
Pretty useful now since you can have these attachments on *Tachankas* lmg.

Is in-menu recoil/spread graphics an accurate representation? Because muzzle break on Hibana's rifle seems little op on that chart.
Most of them are. I tested them once for a video a while ago and they checked out. BUT! I think there are some individual ones that could be inaccurate.
After testing it out myself, i can confirm that using muzzle break on Hibana's AR is much more manageable in vert. & hori. Recoil... Thus making it easier to handle
Edit : i also put muzzle break on both Buck's C8 & BB's MK17... They're now both very easy to control and im not even having any trouble dealing with its horizontal kick
mk17 with vert.grip makes it a headshot machine, had to be, cause dps is second worst for ars, but i still prefer angled grip in every gun, cause the aim down sights reduction is a life saver

This actually helped me a lot I used to just think that the muzzles were for which fire select you had on the gun but I'll definitely be going back and doing some changes
Man i just used to do trial and error when playing with operator guns, its really good to know the exact stats of each muzzle attachment and how they affect a gun, this is really helpful!
Please test penetration damage and in what the extended barrel can help with it!

I know this is asking a lot, but maybe in the future you could do a video special for breaking a subscriber count where you analyze the recoil patterns of each automatic weapon and recommend a muzzle attachment for each based on the results.

You can forget using suppressor with Glaz since Burnt Horizon. With suppressor the OTS-03 is basically a joke now.

Anything with bad horizontal recoil use the comp the muzzle for vertical recoil flash for guns that have sort of bad vertical and horizontal suppressor for whatever and extended can be useless

flash hider and compensator got changed, the rest only bug fixed/standardised (although not fully)
I think the extended barrel should do SOME nullification to vertical recoil if it makes the fun heavier.
A small clarification to recoil centering: the recoil will drop vertically to the lowest point during the burst/spray, so if you never have your gun dip below the initial firing point, then you should have no or minimal (the game keeps the center point moving down with your aim until the next bullet fired) dip. Horizontally, it's a bit more complicated, if you control only vertical recoil, and make no horizontal movement besides that of the recoil itself, it will center back to the initial horizontal firing point at the appropriate vertical position. If you move your aim side to side during a spray/burst, it will set your new horizontal point wherever the reticule itself last was when you stopped adding your own horizontal movement and will center based on that.
Compensator on every LMG and flash hider on most AR's (btw i play mira with muzzle break)

Stuck a suppressor on the L85A2 once playing Sledge. Immediately started using suppressed L85A2 on Sledge AND Thatcher. Never looked back since.
I also run suppressor on Lion's V308.. with an ACOG.
I don't know why, but for some reason the V308 and L85 recoils feel about the same whether you're using a compensator or a suppressor.

I think the LB should give more flash on mussle and act like a sorta foregrip but of course it makes the front heavier why would it increase recoil
So choose flash hider if you can’t handle the initial kick of the gun and choose compensator if you can’t handle the recoil when holding down the LMB. Best summary ever.
Quick tip: They make your aim(recoil) easier or worse with benefits.

mobility is how fast and mobile you can be in when having the weapon is out.
yes, you may say about the armour and speed of operators but here's an example i think it is acceptable:
hibana using the type-89 makes her move/sprint faster than the supernova
it may be slightly but i think it is true
p.s, it may be a "vice versa" on the said example :)
single fire weapons: Muzzle break
full auto weapons: compensator
use flash hider if the weapon cant take a compensator
suppresor is for fun and trolling
long barrel if youre a dirty spawn peaker. but i would still recommend a compensator.
compensator is the over-all better attachment for most guns, since you never really know whats gonna happen, its really just is gonna help you in most situations.
My simple reasoning is:
DMRs, pistols - Muzzle;
high fire rate guns (vector, smg, etc.) - comp;
everything else - flash

I personally use the flash hider because I shoot in bursts but i do like the ability to lay down fire if needed, so I like the middle of the line compromise
