I have 64 Impala. Every time I turn the switch to start, the start makes a click sound and stop. I have to turn the switch back off and back on for the starter to engage. How many wires do you have connected to your starter on the? I have 1 wire going to the S side and just the battery wire connected to my starter
I recently installed a new starter. The problem is the starter is free spinning. I've changed the battery terminals and installed a new battery. When I hooked up the new terminals to the battery. The starter is not engaging. What could be the problem.
The problem could be a serious of things. Since you have a new battery already we can check that off. Next I would retace all the wiring to make sure nothing was disconnected in the process of changing out the starter. My purple wire had disconnected some how on the other end. I had to rewire it from my dash. Also make sure all your grounds are good. You should think of doing the "big three upgrade". Good luck
Thanks for the video👍
No problem, hopefully it helped

The purple wire must be connected to S terminal, that engages the starter. Yellow wire to R terminal
What year is your car? I'm having a hell of a time finding that exact same starter
63 impala, with a 350 small block. I got it from advance auto like 60 bucks
Do you know the part#?
