  • Using a repair kit from Ebay to repair a Lucas ACR alternator fitted to so many vehicles in the 1970's & 1980's. I usually get these repaired locally but though this video might help someone on the other side of the world where the nearest town is a 6 hour drive.

    Thanks very much mate , dead right , photo the wiring positions of the components in the back of these before you strip it out , I did one in an almighty hurry on a J.C.B. yesterday , messed it up , had to watch your video to know how to get it right again , ( I unplugged it with the engine stopped , then clipped the cabling back out of harm,s way , so no tragedies . )
    I can recommend M.U.R.E. in Mid - Ulster for getting the right parts to you very fast , overnight from Ulster to central england . ( Mid Ulster Rotating Electrics ).Thanks mate & all the best .

    Thanks for the video. Following the video enabled me to "recondtion" the alternator on my kit car based on a 1978 Fiesta Mk1. Great stuff.

    Hi Montegoson, Great video's! I think I've seen most of them, now. I bought my Nuffield 4,60 about 12 or 15 years ago just to move stuff around my yard (it has a loader frame on it for carting sugar cane from the field to the loco bin.......from before the 'modern' harvester was invented). I've always thought it was a 1953 model, but I can't remember why I think that. Is there any way I can find out when it was made. The 'info tag' is still clearly readable, but only has the serial number / model, no D,O,M. The poor girl has deteriorated over the years and I'm just bringing her back up to spec........Hence, watching all your vids. Great work, thanks again.

      Peter Henwood there is a date code on the gearbox by your right footplate. The code is explained in the faq section of the Nuffield forum. www. nuffieldtractor. com

    A full rebuild entails replacing the bearings and slip ring assy regardless. No point in doing half a job!

    hi im just doing mine and the 2 large wires that go on the large terminals are identical .could you tel me if it matters which way round they go as both brown and both same size ?

    • @montegoson
      @montegoson  Před rokem

      It’s common to have two power wires and they can go either way, as long as they are not mixed up with the thin wire on the small terminal.

    What wattage soldering iron did you use?

      @montegoson  Před měsícem

      Can’t remember, but just the run of the mill 25-50watt iron.
