I went through this dilemma about 10 months ago and I decided to just go with a 360 (non launch model) for two simple reasons. 1-Way cheaper console and games and 2-Most of the games I love on Xbox are on 360 so I wanted 100% compatibility. Someone gave me an X1 and it collects dust however my 360 is played weekly (Guitar Hero, Fifa Street, NFS Most Wanted, NFS UG2 (OG Xbox but works on 360), L4 Dead 1 and 2 and on and on. The 360 is a staple in my gaming collection.
Just finally scored an Xbox One (OG 500GB) for $100 during holiday sales, so this was a timely video! I had been snagging some games for cheap over the years so I already have several games > (Halo 5, Gears 4 & 5, Sunset Overdrive, Rare/Gears combo, Rise of Tomb Raider, Quantum Break, Mass Effect Andromeda, ReCore, Dishonored 1&2, Dead Rising 3, and Borderlands 3). New year, new console. Cheers.
I saw a series X on a shelf when I was in target and now I own it because I was so shocked to see that. It was an impulse buy. I’ve done nothing with it to make it worth it I’m just upscaling games I missed. The one is a better value but I don’t think that will be true next year, we are finally gonna see some games that were designed for it in the near future.
Im currently replacing my old One S which has served me well, and people are telling me to go for the series s and x, but considering my needs and budget, id say the one x is what im choosing. And this video has solidified my option, thank you guys for this great video.
It's terrible to shop for Series X no store has them in Stock thinking this generations of consoles are sooooo lacking and Nintendo is still relevant with having plenty of Hardware available on every stores... My choice hands down is Xbox One X hands down but if you have One S I feel you don't really need to upgrade but if you do you won't disappoint
I have a Series X, but I still use my One X in a different room to play Blu rays and play quick games of Halo Infinite or Fortnite. If you haven't already, I strongly recommend getting an external SSD to pair with it.
When the next gen was just a glimmer on the horizon in 2020 I got a used Xbox one X for 300 bucks and an open-box 4k TV with VRR. Going from ps4 (which has great games but a shitty ecosystem) I was bowled over by how intuitive and fluid the Xbox system handled everything from the store to the main menu to how you can group and organize games into categories. And considering it has support for 360 games with a lot of them supporting higher resolutions it's just a no brainer for enjoying a myriad of titles both past and present. Also I got into 4k movie collecting which was another big reason I got the unit being it's one of the cheaper 4k disc players. Also also I cannot stress enough how important a TV with VRR (variable refresh rate) is for games that don't hold 60 fps well. If you're in the market for a display make sure it has this feature because it really makes a difference making games display smoothly.
Orbis, the PS4 main menu, doesn't even hold a candle to the PS3s XMB as far as I'm concerned. I'm not saying I hate the ps4 or anything. I love the one I got running GoldHEN. But the Xbox One feels like a more complete, well conceived package. It still manages to feel reasonably contemporary without upgrading to all new hardware! @@GamingOffTheGrid
The Xbox one has been one of my favorite consoles, I have the original VCR Model in white and still play it to this day. I installed an internal SSD and the games load so much faster and the UI runs super smooth as well! Awesome Video Guys!
I recently installed a SSD in my OG tomb raider bundle XB1. Love it. Loads quicker, UI is snappier and the newer cross gen games load faster too. I recommend this to any XB1 owner.
@@Daniel-it1dp Oh yeah it used to be a pain to install the Operating System, but now Microsoft allows you to download it off their website and install it on a USB drive making the process a breeze! There are tons of tutorials on CZcams on how to do so.
I just picked up an Xbox One VCR model for $90 bucks and I love it…I might use it for a while and then upgrade to a 1TB SSD….honestly I don’t see the need for a new console in a long time…this is more than enough to keep me busy for years and years…
Recently got one for $40 no controller, bought a brand new series controller for $40 at target I think its pretty cheap to get into this console, the games are really good and cheap too!!!!
This is a great channel…I just picked up an Xbox One Fat the big VCR model…I payed under $100 bucks and I feel it’s totally worth it…I like the look of it and it has a huge library…more than enough to keep anyone entertained. I play the games for the games just like it was said here…and it has a disc drive…can’t do the series s without the disc drive…great content!!
Plus it can play blu-rays and DVDs and do everything that a Roku can do plus you can play your digital movies or music off of her drive and it will recognize just about every format thanks to VLC player

The Kinect only plugs in natively to the VCR models. If you want to use it on the 1S or 1X you’ll have to track down an adapter cord which is actually rare / expensive for whatever reason. There’s not a single game worth playing though so we just don’t talk about it over here in Xbox fandom land. Lol great video as always guy. Happy new year
I learned to wait on buying new systems after buying the Super Nintendo and OG XBOX shortly after their releases. I even got PS2 and GameCube consoles after the new ones came out. At the beginning of the lockdown, I jumped on the OG XBOX One and shortly thereafter a PS3 slim. I love the XBOX because of its backwards compatibility with OG XBOX and XBOX 360 plus the games look better. The XBOX One I bought for $100 used from a co-worker that just wanted to get rid of it with two controllers, the Kinect 2, a Guitar Hero controller, and 5 games. I do have a 4K TV, but the games still look great on it. It had a 500 GB internal hard drive so within a year I also got a 2TB external drive. The only reason I use the Kinect 2 is to log on faster. I play the XBOX One and have more games than the PS3 slim I picked up a few months later. I did try game pass and it was cool, but I usually play single player games and wait for games I want to drop in price. Plus, I don’t have a lot of free time to play. I have a back log of games to play. I can wait on new games to drop in price. If I miss out on a game, I miss out on it. There are cons though, since it’s usually a while between game sessions for me, I always have to wait for it to update before being able to play. Also, waiting to load a new game before playing it sucks. I haven’t upgraded to a PS4 yet, so when I play my PS3, PS2, or even OG XBOX I love just putting in the game and playing it immediately after it loads. Though, once you install the game to the XBOX One, it loads fairly quickly unless you have to wait for updates to install. I also like the fact that they still make new games that will play on the XBOX One and some will work on the new Series X too. So, you can kind of future proof some of your game collection. Great video, guys! I've still got my One S and One X. The latter was particularly impressive to me, especially with the Xbox One X Enhanced feature that a bunch of OG and 360 games got.
I love our Xbox One. Got the Halo edition Series X for Christmas last year. So I'm going to turn our old Xbox One into the main part of an arcade cabinet. You can install retroarch/emulators on it. Plus all the more modern fighting games I have? Seems like a no brainer. Also I recently picked up a six pack of Southern Tiers Irish Cream Stout. It's a seasonal brew from them. It's good!

Great opinions, guys! The Xbox One is my favorite Xbox next to the 360. I love the Xbox One games, the special edition controllers and the ability to plug in headphones, back compat, cloud game saves, etc. When you stack up all the positives and the cost of getting a console and a few games, you realize we have got it made. Perfect look at why the Xbox One is a great choice.
Sometimes Xbox One versions of games are excellent to have if you want the most content on disc. Metro Exodus complete edition on PS5 has a download voucher for the DLC while the Xbox version includes an extra disc. I gladly take that graphical downgrade of the xbox one version (that I don't really notice anyway) if it means I can have all dlc on disc.
Glad to see you two back at it. Great video. I have a One X and I love it. It is my only 4k Blu-ray player in the house, and I mainly got it for the exclusives.
Agree about the current Xbox menus... I've played on Xbox since getting a 360 in the mid-2000s and I can't stand the bloat and confusion of the current menus. I think it's also related to age and interest - I don't care about any of the online, community, connected stuff. Show me games, and a button in the corner for settings.
I jumped back into gaming on the XBox side. There are a lot of disc-based games factory sealed under $20. But if you're just playing and not collecting, consider used and save even more money.

You guys are awesome, thank you for your content! Here is my 2 cents on this episode. Burnout 3 was backwards compatible on the xbox 360. So it should be a simple patch to put it on xbox one. I don't know why they don't. Licencing rights on the music is my only guess as to why they haven't ported it over. As for the elite controller, it is fantastic while it works. Which usually isn't long. The failure rate on elite controllers isn't worth the price of 3+ regular controllers. -PapaChewbacca

I already own a xbox one s and honestly i use it only because the backwards compatibility support with 360 and og xbox. About exclusives i think maybe if someone loved rare as a developer its a reason to get an xbox one (depending if nintendo gonna release those games on nintendo switch online or if Microsoft gonna put rare replay on pc). I only way i can recommend to people get an xbox one is if they want to play 7th generation games/rare replay and dont have pc (99% of the exclusives are on pc) and want physical media for cheap if they already own a ps5 (if not xbox series x is the beter option)
The Xbox controller and everything they do is basically better than Playstation except for one thing, the games. That's why I play Playstation but I really wish the PS5 could play all discs from 1-5, or something really similar to Xbox (I know about PS plus tiers but it's different).
Alien Isolation used Kinect's head tracking for peaking around corners and the microphone would report noises (such as a gasp) into the game and cause the Alien to locate you. I do miss being able to play Kinect games and I was disappointed that it was discontinued. If you do decide to purchase the Kinect, make sure you get the adapter if you use a One S or One X.
I've had my Xbox One since Christmas 2014, and I still have no need for the new generation. It can be slow to load games sometimes, but that it my only complaint. Graphics aren't a draw for me anymore, its about the gaming experience... story, atmosphere, quality. Is the console a must buy? Maybe not. Does it have a ton of first party titles? No. But it is a solid system and fits my needs. Also, I love Game Pass... its so worth it.
I have the Xbox One X cyberpunk Edition.. and I really love the system and I must have the hard copy the disc and case. I also have a PS4 Pro which I've enjoyed very much. I also enjoy your videos keep them coming

I bought the VCR Xbox One that came with the Halo collection new from Best Buy. I never opened it. With the exception of Resident Evil Revelations 2, all the multiplats played better on PS4 at the time. By the time I was ready to play Xbox One, the X was out. I bought that and loved it. It gave a boost to many of the earlier games and played many multiplats better than PS4 Pro. The backwards compatible games run very smooth on the One X. It also has an updated controller that feels solid and comfortable. Both Sony and MS did great jobs on that generation for controllers. The One X is a great hold over until you decide to get a current console or skip this generation entirely as it still plays many of the same games the Series X does. Just not as good, but it’s hardly noticeable unless you’re comparing side-by-side.
You can stream xbs/s via xb1 and gamepass through cloud. If decent internet its not bad. In my house I've got a series S, the grey One S, a white one S and the Vcr day one edition. Which isn't really more valuable but I think it's cool. Which sounds like I'm bragging but I've been rocking with since 2014. I'm in love with my series S but often times I get sad and fiddle with my video settings wishing I'd gotten an X instead when I had the money. Then I come back, boot something off the SSD or compare to my one S and I'm happy again.
i always buy the system at least 5yrs after it comes out, the games are cheaper, library deeper and the devs works out all the kinks in the machines. i remember the rrod. ive only had my xbox one for 4yrs, tons of games i havent played yet.

I honestly think if you saw what my 4k TV can do with the PS5 and Xbox series X, there would be no going back to xbox one. 4k 120fps dolby vision is freaking AMAZING when it works.

I use mine all the time. I'd say even just for the backwards compatibility it's worth it. Like most games I play on it are 360 or original Xbox games. I have those and play them because not every game is backwards compatible though but for people who aren't like die hard collectors I'd say it's a good investment.
If you want way better load times on any Xbox One Console I highly recommend a SSD external drive. The faster load times and shader/ textures loading in way faster is worth it. Red dead 2 loads in 30secs to 60secs vs almost 5mins 30 secs without. Same with GTA Five, Forza Games. Anything with huge load times taken down to seconds instead of minutes! Another great guide! 🤘
I have a XB1 S - I like it alot. (especially as I got it free from a buddy) Not a big fan of every game having to be downloaded, but the system scratches the itch for more modern gaming. I have a 4TB external hard drive for all my games. My suggestion if you don't have gamepass would be to buy all games digitally from the store that you can. (there are incredible sales all the time) You can then buy physical copies of games no longer offered in the store. Example: Forza Horizon 3 I love physical media, but there's no advantage to having a disc for this system. You still need it to play a game even after it's been downloaded to your hard drive. Whereas I can just plug in my external hard drive and off I go. Plus physical games just aren't what they used to be anyway. My 2 cents
I just upgraded to the series x , I had the Xbox one s . I only paid 160 for mine , I had a ps4 pro , and took them on to gamestop . I got a ps5 so it made no sense for me to kept the pro . And plus I got both of those on trade in anyways , and yes the x move way fast then the olders big time

Also i never thought a 4k tv was worth it till now. They are so good now even cheap ones like HiSense, TCL, Pioneer etc. They make old games look wayy better too. Especially if you have a audio reciever with an upscaler, or a standalone upscaler. I was blown away with the difference even in 360 and PS3 games, even Xbox One and PS4. Its kinda weird how much better it is even just with a newer tv. The screen quality is so much better the 1080p content and games are look so good. Highly recommend a Black Friday Sale upgrade! The Kinect 2.0 is still kinda a nice thing to have because it has voice commands for controlling apps and the tv/av/cablebox in func, to turning on and off your Xbox One/TV/reciever. The games for it are not terrible but not many. Battlefield 4 had head tracking for it.

I just got a Series S back in October off eBay for $220 and been loving it. The only downside is the lack of a disc drive but besides that gamepass is amazing, features such as quick resume is great and just makes jumping between games a seamless transition. It has backwards compatibility with the previous generations including Xbox One. I feel like you're getting the most value out of Gamepass with the Series S over the Xbox One because you have access to the current gen lineup. I've never been a huge fan of Microsoft systems. I brought a 360 way back and sold it to my cousin 2 months later and used the money to get more Wii games 😂 I always been a Nintendo first and Sony 2nd gamer. My last Sony system was the PS3. I was always planning on getting a PS4 but just never got around to it. So I spent the previous generation with just a WiiU (and loved it by the way) and I had the OG Switch then upgraded to the OLED. I was debating between getting the PS4 & Series S and ultimately decided on the Series S because Gamepass is just too good of a deal. I feel like the Switch OLED & Series S is a match made in heaven. I primarily play my Switch in handheld but when I want to play 3rd parties and indies that may not be available on Switch or just run significantly better I'll play it on my Xbox instead.

Merry Christmas guys ⛄🎄.. just wanted to touch on the Xbox controllers ..I totally agree they are the best I have way less fatigues in my hands versus Sony.. oh and a fyi if you get the basic controller for the Xbox series s or x you can use those on the Xbox one x and s ...they are even better! The rt and Lt triggers are gripped and function better in my opinion .. cheers
Good for you guys man. I actually envy you for not making the leap to 4k because the fidelity was already there at 1080p. I feel like the whole 4k push was super rushed before the technology could handle it comfortably and affordably. Now I feel like I have to do this constant balancing act to maintain the graphics settings on my PC or the only other option is to shell out for a super expensive graphics card. My 980ti card would have so much more life left in it if I'd just stayed with my more than adequate HD TV! Not to mention that older consoles such as the wii u and also emulators look and scale great on a 1080p screen.

But I have to know, days from 2023, and the prices of 4K tv's being dirt cheap, like a few hundred dollars for a 70" television, have you not upgraded?

I have to agree with you here on your conclusion. Getting an Xbox One in 2023 depends on your situation. The nice thing about getting any of the Xbox One consoles (minus the All Digital Edition) is that you can even use some Xbox 360 disks to unlock the installation of Xbox 360 games. I think that the best value is the Xbox One S version. It upscales to 4K, and you can watch 4K content on it, and it has HDR gaming, which does look nicer if you have a 4K TV. It is also a 4K Blu-Ray player. If you are on a budget and are ok with Digital only games, the newer Xbox Series S would be the way to go, as you can easily get it for $250 new. Personally at this point, if you don't have an Xbox yet, I'd get one of the newer Series systems, as they play almost all of the Xbox One games minus the Kinect Games.
I got an Xbox One X a few years ago for half the $500 MSRP at the time. The backwards compatibility and better multiplatform games than PS4 Pro were the main reasons. They really turned it around from the disastrous launch in 2013. Unfortunately since then, I've had some hardware issues and Microsoft doesn't repair them anymore, so I'd rather get a Series X at this point. However, I'm a bit skeptical considering every Xbox aside from the original one has given me hardware failures.
If you only got 200 bucks to buy a system, the Xbox Series S is unmatched. Can easily get one used for that price. I know there is no disc drive and that's weak; But I have a Series X in my living room and a Series S in my gameroom. The thing is flawlessly executed for the cost. 🤘Rock on bros.
I had owned one since 2014 and I gotten used to the first layout change about a year later, which they used to allow select insiders of to check out before it was eventually released to the general public later that year (where I feel the UI design peaked). Then it started being much more compacted down from there some years later until it took some time for it to look no different than the Series consoles out now for segue to their release a few years ago. Unless you’re able to appreciate the definitive dashboard, it’ll just feel like a laggier version of those consoles depending on which revision.
Something you two may or may not know about that Xbox one x is that some of the first party games on there offer a 1080p performance mode. Makes the games run butter smooth at 60 fps. Gears of war 4 for sure does not t and I think Forza horizon 4
the series s is the best deal imo, I see the appeal for discs to some but honestly I find them to be a hassle and I’ve been moved on to digital for a while now
I know you always show a new beer but you like grape stuff try grape soda from Sprecher, it's made with real grapes and Wisconsin honey, ans Sprecher also sell regular alcoholic beer as well, and they are famous for their extremely delicious root beer, highly recommend them both.
I still like my VCR model Xbox one. Don't forget it plays games that were designed for the newer hardware . Just don't run as fast. Forza horizon 5 was a showpiece for newer hardware but still runs great on original Xbox one
One game you really need the One X for is Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. Performance sucks very noticeably on the other console versions. Only one I can really think of.
I still have my Day One VCR XBO, Gears of War Xbox One S, and Project Scorpio Xbox One X. I’ll say even the One X is showing it’s age vs when I play on my Series X with how sluggish it is 😔
The last of us is my favorite game of all time. If u guys were ever to purchase a PS5, please experience The Last of Us Part 1. That game continues to lovingly break my heart every time I play it.

When the next gen was just a glimmer on the horizon in 2020 I got a used Xbox one X for 300 bucks and an open-box 4k TV with VRR.
Going from ps4 (which has great games but a shitty ecosystem) I was bowled over by how intuitive and fluid the Xbox system handled everything from the store to the main menu to how you can group and organize games into categories.
And considering it has support for 360 games with a lot of them supporting higher resolutions it's just a no brainer for enjoying a myriad of titles both past and present. Also I got into 4k movie collecting which was another big reason I got the unit being it's one of the cheaper 4k disc players.
Also also I cannot stress enough how important a TV with VRR (variable refresh rate) is for games that don't hold 60 fps well. If you're in the market for a display make sure it has this feature because it really makes a difference making games display smoothly.
We like the Xbox menu than PS for sure! Easier to navigate! Yeah you definitely need a TV that keeps up with any console you play! Cheers!
Orbis, the PS4 main menu, doesn't even hold a candle to the PS3s XMB as far as I'm concerned. I'm not saying I hate the ps4 or anything. I love the one I got running GoldHEN. But the Xbox One feels like a more complete, well conceived package. It still manages to feel reasonably contemporary without upgrading to all new hardware! @@GamingOffTheGrid
The Xbox one has been one of my favorite consoles, I have the original VCR Model in white and still play it to this day. I installed an internal SSD and the games load so much faster and the UI runs super smooth as well! Awesome Video Guys!

I recently installed a SSD in my OG tomb raider bundle XB1. Love it. Loads quicker, UI is snappier and the newer cross gen games load faster too. I recommend this to any XB1 owner.
I need to look into upgrading mine to an SSD. I swear originally it wasn’t possible to put your own hard drive or SSD in the XBO
@@Daniel-it1dp Oh yeah it used to be a pain to install the Operating System, but now Microsoft allows you to download it off their website and install it on a USB drive making the process a breeze! There are tons of tutorials on CZcams on how to do so.
I just picked up an Xbox One VCR model for $90 bucks and I love it…I might use it for a while and then upgrade to a 1TB SSD….honestly I don’t see the need for a new console in a long time…this is more than enough to keep me busy for years and years…

This is a great channel…I just picked up an Xbox One Fat the big VCR model…I payed under $100 bucks and I feel it’s totally worth it…I like the look of it and it has a huge library…more than enough to keep anyone entertained. I play the games for the games just like it was said here…and it has a disc drive…can’t do the series s without the disc drive…great content!!

Plus it can play blu-rays and DVDs and do everything that a Roku can do plus you can play your digital movies or music off of her drive and it will recognize just about every format thanks to VLC player

The Kinect only plugs in natively to the VCR models. If you want to use it on the 1S or 1X you’ll have to track down an adapter cord which is actually rare / expensive for whatever reason. There’s not a single game worth playing though so we just don’t talk about it over here in Xbox fandom land. Lol great video as always guy. Happy new year

I learned to wait on buying new systems after buying the Super Nintendo and OG XBOX shortly after their releases. I even got PS2 and GameCube consoles after the new ones came out. At the beginning of the lockdown, I jumped on the OG XBOX One and shortly thereafter a PS3 slim. I love the XBOX because of its backwards compatibility with OG XBOX and XBOX 360 plus the games look better. The XBOX One I bought for $100 used from a co-worker that just wanted to get rid of it with two controllers, the Kinect 2, a Guitar Hero controller, and 5 games. I do have a 4K TV, but the games still look great on it. It had a 500 GB internal hard drive so within a year I also got a 2TB external drive. The only reason I use the Kinect 2 is to log on faster. I play the XBOX One and have more games than the PS3 slim I picked up a few months later. I did try game pass and it was cool, but I usually play single player games and wait for games I want to drop in price. Plus, I don’t have a lot of free time to play. I have a back log of games to play. I can wait on new games to drop in price. If I miss out on a game, I miss out on it. There are cons though, since it’s usually a while between game sessions for me, I always have to wait for it to update before being able to play. Also, waiting to load a new game before playing it sucks. I haven’t upgraded to a PS4 yet, so when I play my PS3, PS2, or even OG XBOX I love just putting in the game and playing it immediately after it loads. Though, once you install the game to the XBOX One, it loads fairly quickly unless you have to wait for updates to install. I also like the fact that they still make new games that will play on the XBOX One and some will work on the new Series X too. So, you can kind of future proof some of your game collection. I love our Xbox One. Got the Halo edition Series X for Christmas last year. So I'm going to turn our old Xbox One into the main part of an arcade cabinet. You can install retroarch/emulators on it. Plus all the more modern fighting games I have? Seems like a no brainer.
Also I recently picked up a six pack of Southern Tiers Irish Cream Stout. It's a seasonal brew from them. It's good!

Great opinions, guys! The Xbox One is my favorite Xbox next to the 360. I love the Xbox One games, the special edition controllers and the ability to plug in headphones, back compat, cloud game saves, etc. When you stack up all the positives and the cost of getting a console and a few games, you realize we have got it made. Perfect look at why the Xbox One is a great choice.

Sometimes Xbox One versions of games are excellent to have if you want the most content on disc. Metro Exodus complete edition on PS5 has a download voucher for the DLC while the Xbox version includes an extra disc. I gladly take that graphical downgrade of the xbox one version (that I don't really notice anyway) if it means I can have all dlc on disc.

Agree about the current Xbox menus... I've played on Xbox since getting a 360 in the mid-2000s and I can't stand the bloat and confusion of the current menus. I think it's also related to age and interest - I don't care about any of the online, community, connected stuff. Show me games, and a button in the corner for settings.

Here is my 2 cents on this episode.
Burnout 3 was backwards compatible on the xbox 360. So it should be a simple patch to put it on xbox one. I don't know why they don't. Licencing rights on the music is my only guess as to why they haven't ported it over.
As for the elite controller, it is fantastic while it works. Which usually isn't long. The failure rate on elite controllers isn't worth the price of 3+ regular controllers.

I already own a xbox one s and honestly i use it only because the backwards compatibility support with 360 and og xbox.
About exclusives i think maybe if someone loved rare as a developer its a reason to get an xbox one (depending if nintendo gonna release those games on nintendo switch online or if Microsoft gonna put rare replay on pc). I only way i can recommend to people get an xbox one is if they want to play 7th generation games/rare replay and dont have pc (99% of the exclusives are on pc) and want physical media for cheap if they already own a ps5 (if not xbox series x is the beter option)

The Xbox controller and everything they do is basically better than Playstation except for one thing, the games. That's why I play Playstation but I really wish the PS5 could play all discs from 1-5, or something really similar to Xbox (I know about PS plus tiers but it's different).

Alien Isolation used Kinect's head tracking for peaking around corners and the microphone would report noises (such as a gasp) into the game and cause the Alien to locate you. I do miss being able to play Kinect games and I was disappointed that it was discontinued. If you do decide to purchase the Kinect, make sure you get the adapter if you use a One S or One X.
I've had my Xbox One since Christmas 2014, and I still have no need for the new generation. It can be slow to load games sometimes, but that it my only complaint. Graphics aren't a draw for me anymore, its about the gaming experience... story, atmosphere, quality. Is the console a must buy? Maybe not. Does it have a ton of first party titles? No. But it is a solid system and fits my needs. Also, I love Game Pass... its so worth it.

I bought the VCR Xbox One that came with the Halo collection new from Best Buy. I never opened it. With the exception of Resident Evil Revelations 2, all the multiplats played better on PS4 at the time. By the time I was ready to play Xbox One, the X was out. I bought that and loved it. It gave a boost to many of the earlier games and played many multiplats better than PS4 Pro. The backwards compatible games run very smooth on the One X. It also has an updated controller that feels solid and comfortable. Both Sony and MS did great jobs on that generation for controllers. The One X is a great hold over until you decide to get a current console or skip this generation entirely as it still plays many of the same games the Series X does. Just not as good, but it’s hardly noticeable unless you’re comparing side-by-side.

You can stream xbs/s via xb1 and gamepass through cloud. If decent internet its not bad. In my house I've got a series S, the grey One S, a white one S and the Vcr day one edition. Which isn't really more valuable but I think it's cool. Which sounds like I'm bragging but I've been rocking with since 2014. I'm in love with my series S but often times I get sad and fiddle with my video settings wishing I'd gotten an X instead when I had the money. Then I come back, boot something off the SSD or compare to my one S and I'm happy again.

i always buy the system at least 5yrs after it comes out, the games are cheaper, library deeper and the devs works out all the kinks in the machines. i remember the rrod. ive only had my xbox one for 4yrs, tons of games i havent played yet.

I honestly think if you saw what my 4k TV can do with the PS5 and Xbox series X, there would be no going back to xbox one. 4k 120fps dolby vision is freaking AMAZING when it works.

I will not buy a ps4 pro it only has a regular blu-ray player and stream 4k content so there's no UDHD blu-ray drive

I use mine all the time. I'd say even just for the backwards compatibility it's worth it. Like most games I play on it are 360 or original Xbox games. I have those and play them because not every game is backwards compatible though but for people who aren't like die hard collectors I'd say it's a good investment.

If you want way better load times on any Xbox One Console I highly recommend a SSD external drive. The faster load times and shader/ textures loading in way faster is worth it. Red dead 2 loads in 30secs to 60secs vs almost 5mins 30 secs without. Same with GTA Five, Forza Games. Anything with huge load times taken down to seconds instead of minutes! Another great guide! 🤘
Love my Xbox One X; paid 200 for it a year ago. I want a Series X but it just isn't worth it yet, especially with no Xbox exclusives yet.

I have a XB1 S - I like it alot. (especially as I got it free from a buddy) Not a big fan of every game having to be downloaded, but the system scratches the itch for more modern gaming. I have a 4TB external hard drive for all my games.
My suggestion if you don't have gamepass would be to buy all games digitally from the store that you can. (there are incredible sales all the time) You can then buy physical copies of games no longer offered in the store. Example: Forza Horizon 3
I love physical media, but there's no advantage to having a disc for this system. You still need it to play a game even after it's been downloaded to your hard drive. Whereas I can just plug in my external hard drive and off I go. Plus physical games just aren't what they used to be anyway. My 2 cents

I just upgraded to the series x , I had the Xbox one s . I only paid 160 for mine , I had a ps4 pro , and took them on to gamestop . I got a ps5 so it made no sense for me to kept the pro . And plus I got both of those on trade in anyways , and yes the x move way fast then the olders big time

Also i never thought a 4k tv was worth it till now. They are so good now even cheap ones like HiSense, TCL, Pioneer etc. They make old games look wayy better too. Especially if you have a audio reciever with an upscaler, or a standalone upscaler. I was blown away with the difference even in 360 and PS3 games, even Xbox One and PS4. Its kinda weird how much better it is even just with a newer tv. The screen quality is so much better the 1080p content and games are look so good. Highly recommend a Black Friday Sale upgrade! The Kinect 2.0 is still kinda a nice thing to have because it has voice commands for controlling apps and the tv/av/cablebox in func, to turning on and off your Xbox One/TV/reciever. The games for it are not terrible but not many. Battlefield 4 had head tracking for it.

I just got a Series S back in October off eBay for $220 and been loving it. The only downside is the lack of a disc drive but besides that gamepass is amazing, features such as quick resume is great and just makes jumping between games a seamless transition. It has backwards compatibility with the previous generations including Xbox One. I feel like you're getting the most value out of Gamepass with the Series S over the Xbox One because you have access to the current gen lineup.
I've never been a huge fan of Microsoft systems. I brought a 360 way back and sold it to my cousin 2 months later and used the money to get more Wii games 😂 I always been a Nintendo first and Sony 2nd gamer. My last Sony system was the PS3. I was always planning on getting a PS4 but just never got around to it. So I spent the previous generation with just a WiiU (and loved it by the way) and I had the OG Switch then upgraded to the OLED.
I was debating between getting the PS4 & Series S and ultimately decided on the Series S because Gamepass is just too good of a deal.
I feel like the Switch OLED & Series S is a match made in heaven. I primarily play my Switch in handheld but when I want to play 3rd parties and indies that may not be available on Switch or just run significantly better I'll play it on my Xbox instead.

Good for you guys man. I actually envy you for not making the leap to 4k because the fidelity was already there at 1080p. I feel like the whole 4k push was super rushed before the technology could handle it comfortably and affordably. Now I feel like I have to do this constant balancing act to maintain the graphics settings on my PC or the only other option is to shell out for a super expensive graphics card. My 980ti card would have so much more life left in it if I'd just stayed with my more than adequate HD TV! Not to mention that older consoles such as the wii u and also emulators look and scale great on a 1080p screen.

I have to agree with you here on your conclusion. Getting an Xbox One in 2023 depends on your situation. The nice thing about getting any of the Xbox One consoles (minus the All Digital Edition) is that you can even use some Xbox 360 disks to unlock the installation of Xbox 360 games. I think that the best value is the Xbox One S version. It upscales to 4K, and you can watch 4K content on it, and it has HDR gaming, which does look nicer if you have a 4K TV. It is also a 4K Blu-Ray player. If you are on a budget and are ok with Digital only games, the newer Xbox Series S would be the way to go, as you can easily get it for $250 new. Personally at this point, if you don't have an Xbox yet, I'd get one of the newer Series systems, as they play almost all of the Xbox One games minus the Kinect Games.

I got an Xbox One X a few years ago for half the $500 MSRP at the time. The backwards compatibility and better multiplatform games than PS4 Pro were the main reasons. They really turned it around from the disastrous launch in 2013. Unfortunately since then, I've had some hardware issues and Microsoft doesn't repair them anymore, so I'd rather get a Series X at this point. However, I'm a bit skeptical considering every Xbox aside from the original one has given me hardware failures.

If you only got 200 bucks to buy a system, the Xbox Series S is unmatched. Can easily get one used for that price. I know there is no disc drive and that's weak; But I have a Series X in my living room and a Series S in my gameroom. The thing is flawlessly executed for the cost. 🤘Rock on bros.

I had owned one since 2014 and I gotten used to the first layout change about a year later, which they used to allow select insiders of to check out before it was eventually released to the general public later that year (where I feel the UI design peaked). Then it started being much more compacted down from there some years later until it took some time for it to look no different than the Series consoles out now for segue to their release a few years ago. Unless you’re able to appreciate the definitive dashboard, it’ll just feel like a laggier version of those consoles depending on which revision.

Something you two may or may not know about that Xbox one x is that some of the first party games on there offer a 1080p performance mode. Makes the games run butter smooth at 60 fps. Gears of war 4 for sure does not t and I think Forza horizon 4

Most next generation exclusives on game pass can actually be streamed on an xbox one. So even that isn't a big deal if you have decent internet.

I know you always show a new beer but you like grape stuff try grape soda from Sprecher, it's made with real grapes and Wisconsin honey, ans Sprecher also sell regular alcoholic beer as well, and they are famous for their extremely delicious root beer, highly recommend them both.

I still like my VCR model Xbox one. Don't forget it plays games that were designed for the newer hardware . Just don't run as fast. Forza horizon 5 was a showpiece for newer hardware but still runs great on original Xbox one

One game you really need the One X for is Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. Performance sucks very noticeably on the other console versions. Only one I can really think of.

I still have my Day One VCR XBO, Gears of War Xbox One S, and Project Scorpio Xbox One X. I’ll say even the One X is showing it’s age vs when I play on my Series X with how sluggish it is 😔
