I like the content, but I have to correct you a little, haha. The PAL controller and console are the same as the Japanese controller and console - that is the original design: the Super Famicom. The American design is the altered one. So the buttons were not "fucked with" on the PAL controller - you have the altered controllers. :)

The first console I ever bought for myself was a Super Nintendo with Controllers, Super Mario World, and Super Mario All Stars. This was in 1993. Two years after it came out. Super Nintendo was one of the best consoles ever. I was 13 and had a bestfriend who had the Genesis. We would trade consoles for a Week at a time. I have a love for both consoles, but Super Nintendo will have to be my favorite.

The SNES was a beast. The ASCII turbo game pad was a great accessory. The Super Scope was fun but it killed batteries. Mad Respect for number 10 and 3 on the list. Kirby's Dream Course is a super chill game you guys should check out. Also Knights of the Round is another beat em up you should check out.
Great video guys. Stick to your guns and don't let others shame your choices.
The SNES had a great library and no one should be denied access.

I was a Genesis and even a Turbografx (via other relatives) kid but my best friend got the SNES when it came out and he waited until I came over before turning it on. We got to experience Super Mario World for the first time together and I was seriously impressed. I never got a SNES to this day (I have a Retron 5) but when my friend got Zelda A Link To The Past that was the one time I REALLY wanted one. My favorite NES game was/is Legend of Zelda so seeing it in 16 bit was unreal at the time. Link to the Past is my favorite SNES game. Though my favorite memories of the system were in the late 90s playing Super Mario Cart death matches with my high school girlfriend (who kicked my ass!).
Looking back though I had the best of all worlds. Genesis at home, Turbografx at Uncle and Cousin's house, and SNES at friend's house. I miss that time. So much fun!

You guys keep killing it with the great content! Loved this video. I rock the Original Snes Through Hd Retrovision Component Cables on a Crt. I need to track down one of those Snes Advantage Controllers. I do recommend the Hudson soft tap. I have a few games it is fun with. Super Bomberman, Super Bomberman 2, WWF Monday Night Raw, and Secret of Mana. Great accessory! Most of your top 10 are in mine as well. My only substitutes would be for Smash TV, Super Punch Out, and the Thunder Force game. I would put in Breath of Fire, Breath of Fire 2, and Super Mario RPG. I have a lot of nostalgia for those 3 titles though and love them dearly. Here is to hoping an N64 one of these comes out! 🍺

How is the component video over svideo I've been considering the jump? Personally I've been using an ASCIIPAD for the PS1/2 with an adapter and it's a much nicer experience, it's a heavy arcade stick I can lean into quite a bit!

    • @gametourny4ever627
      @gametourny4ever627 Před 3 lety +1

@@SemiglossOyster Oh cool! I will have to check that out. So I used to use the Purple Monster S Video Cable before the Hd Retrovision Cables and it did a damn fine job. It is a very small upgrade. The main spot I noticed it in, was the colors. The clarity was mostly the same. Maybe ever so slightly sharper but barely. I noticed the colors more and again slightly. For me, I use the G Comp Switch between an HD TV and a Crt. That was a huge selling point was for the convenience along with the small upgrade. I have 1 Crt that supports S Video, meanwhile, every TV in my home, supports Component and 240p signal, So I wanted that flexibility even more than the small increase in quality. I have those HD Retrovision cables for the OG Xbox, PS1, Snes, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis/CD/32X, the Sega Saturn, the Turbo Duo, and the Atari Jaguar and some jumps were much bigger than others. OG Xbox was Small, PS1 was great. It took out some of the Checker-boarding my S Video Cable was displaying. The Snes was a small upgrade. The Master System was a Huge upgrade. Night and Day. Amazing on there. The Genesis/Cd/32X was the same. A massive upgrade in quality. The Sega Saturn was small but good but I was going from S Video to it. The Turbo Duo was pretty significant as well but I had to get the system modded for Rgb for it but well worth it. Finally with the Jag2snes and the Cable on the Jaguar, Holy Moly! Huge upgrade on the Jaguar as well. I have some cables on the side for the day I can ever get a Neo Geo Aes. Not sure it will happen but I can hope. I have my N64 with Voltaur getting modded for Rgb to use the HD Retrovision Component Cable as well. Can’t wait til it gets back to me. After that, I will only have 2 consoles left that utilize S Video, the 3DO and the Cdi and they are hardwired in. I don’t see me modding them. Anyway, hope that helped.

    Great video guys!
We got our SNES Christmas of 1991 - with Super Mario World packed in, but also receiving Final Fight and F-Zero with the system. Loved the system, though the early days were rough with slowdown on some titles.
The high-point for games with me being Street Fighter 2. I was obsessed with that game in the arcade and when it hit the SNES, my dad picked it up literally off the truck at Toy's R Us as the employee said "it should be on the truck", so he wandered back and the guy just handed him the copy :P
The Super Star Wars series was also an obsession for me, with ESB being the height of that.
Also Rock 'N Roll Racing for that soundtrack!
Blackthorne for the behind-the-back shotgun kills.
    So many great titles...
Was never a Sega kid, but someone recently pointed out that the Genesis's sound card made music and effects sound "farty" and I can never un-hear farts now with Genesis games.

I love collecting for the Super NES and have been playing Zelda Links Awakening on the bigscreen thanks to the Super Gameboy perephrial. About 2 years ago, a tenant moved out where I work at(apartment maintenance) and she gave me a box with a Super Nes and all 3 Donkey Kong Country games, Zelda LTTP, Mario Kart, Mario RPG and freaking Earthbound. I already had 1 so I kept the games and traded in the system. It also had Alien 3, some game called Flea Frantic which I guess it the only video game the company made

She only went with the SNES Classic because it had 2 controllers! Lol. SNES is my all time favorite console and the mini is amazing. I've been able to play games I never had. (Modded). I've gotten lots of accessories for my mini from Amazon and Etsy. I've got 3D printed SNES controller grips. The, "Playing with Super Power" book. 3D printed game cartridges. And the PDP hard carrying case with the graphics cards on the front. I've decked it out, bubba. Oh! 8bitdo wireless SN30 controllers too. I was born in 89 and he is three years younger than I am and so I think he was a bit too young to care, so I basically got both systems to myself. I played that snes soooo much. I stop short of saying the snes is the best game system of all time but man… it’s up there. I grew up with the Super NES in the 90's. I didn't own one until I got an Super Nintendo until August 2002 from an auction when I was a teenager. It came with the Super NES control deck consoles itself, one (1 controller) and it had 3 games: Super Mario World (Ver: SNS-MV-USA-1), World Heroes 2, and Wheel of Fortune: Deluxe Edition (Majesco re-release). The next year, I got Super Star Wars (Nintendo 1998 re-release - rated - 'E'). I would have more games for the Super Nintendo, like F-Zero, Final Fight, Final Fight 2, Final Fight 3, Final Fight Guy, ActRaiser, Joe & Mac, Super E.D.F.: Earth Defense Force, Super Smash T.V., Rival Turf!, Contra III: The Alien Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time, Super Mario Kart, Gunforce, Sonic Blast Man, Batman Returns, Dragon‘s Lair, Family Dog, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends, Sunset Riders, Mega Man X, The Jetsons: Invasion of the Planet Pirates, The Pirates of Dark Water, R-Type III: The Third Lightning, Super Punch-Out!!, Super Mario All-Stars+ Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2, Donkey Country 3, Wario‘s Woods, Bust-A-Move, The Ren & Stimpy Show: Buckeroo$!, WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game, Power Rangers Zeo: Battle Racers, Mr. Do!, Williams Arcade‘s Greatest Hits, Ms. Pac-Man, Marvel Super Heroes in: War of the Gems, NBA Hangtime, Arkanoid: Doh It Again, Space Invaders, Kirby‘s Dream Land 3, and Frogger, and the accessories the Super Advantage, Super NES Mouse, Asciipad, Capcom Fighter Power Stick, Specialized Fighter Pad, Fighter Stick SN, Power Plug, Super Game Boy, and the Superpad Controller, but one day sooner, I'm repurchasing another Super NES and more games and accessories...

But I'll always love this console.

10:17 This is complete speculation, but I think the reason why the NA SNES controller had two concave buttons while the Japanese Super Famicom and the PAL SNES have all buttons convex might be related to the fact that in Japanese arcade machines convex buttons were the standard. While concave buttons were the standard in American arcades. The PAL SNES kept the same Super Famicom aesthetic design. So that might be why PAL SNES controllers have convex buttons like its Japanese counterpart. Now, we might wonder "why only the Y and X button be different on the NA SNES?". I assume that Nintendo of America wanted to make the difference with the new buttons that the SNES introduced. Not sure why, though, because the NA NES already had B and A as the concave buttons. So I would've expect those to be concave buttons in the SNES and then make the Y and X the convex ones, but what can I say? Haha!
Anyways, excellent video, guys! Long live the SNES!!

I've been blown away by some of the games I didn't have as a kid. And I've gotten all the fondest ones from childhood. The SNES (and Genesis) were the last true gaming consoles I owned until the XBox One/PS 4 generation. I was 21 when the the SNES was released and I was about to ship out for a stint in the Army at Ft. Bragg, NC. I became pretty much an exclusive PC gamer at that point, having the money to afford my own PC setup.
Although I consider myself a retro gamer, the SNES kind of represents the line of playability to me. The SNES graphics still look great and the gameplay started to branch out into more sophisticated gameplay. Anything prior to the SNES is hit or miss to me and many of the games prior to the SNES have simply not aged well. Although don’t get me wrong, there are still some great games on systems prior to the SNES.

Absolutely could NOT coerce my dad into getting a SNES for the household so I busted my ass all summer mowing, hauling hay, doing farm work until I finally--FINALLY--had the money to pick one up. And then...he was pissed. LOL
I was "stuck" with Super Mario World and no chance of renting games for so, so long--had to find new ways to challenge myself with that game. HA! LttP was THE game that got me into Zelda, despite having tried the NES duo. For shits and giggles I think it'd be neat to have the LttP SNES box, just because.
Man, the Super GameBoy was a godsend to me! Even back in the day I despised trying to play games on any kind of handheld and THIS device was exactly what I always wanted--playing handheld games on my TV WITH the SNES controller. Ha ha--the Super Scope was such a....good try. lol I really did like Mario Paint though--back then it was absolutely mind-blowing.
I was a Super Mario Kart master back in the day--freaking LOVED that game.
Something interesting to look at is the sheer evolution of certain games from their NES beginnings, like LttP, Super Mario World, Contra III, Super Metroid, Super Castlevania IV--it was such an incredible time for gaming.
RPGs were my bread and butter on the SNES. I had to buy my own games so I had to make sure I got my money's worth. On the bright side, that love carried over into the PS1 and these were the golden years of role playing games, hands down.
