- Fresh off their recent departure from being the caretakers of Dead Cells for almost 5 years, after a somewhat abrupt ending from Motion Twin, Evil Empire have wasted no time revealing their new game: The Rogue Prince of Persia. A roguelite based on the classic IP with a completely original story that has been in development for a few years and will be hitting early access on May 14. The combination of the studios pedigree, the genre, the classic IP and the quality of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has quickly made this game our most anticipated rogue coming in 2024.

Do you plan on jumping in early access for The Rogue Prince of Persia or wait for the full release?
Yup, cant wait - early access it is!
Always wait for full release, early access is bad for the gaming industry and incentivises shipping half-done games full of bugs. When it's done and polished it is good.
Very excited to see what the Dead Cells tech can be applied to!
I don’t think they are using the tech, but they are definitely going to apply what they learned supporting it. I assume you will be jumping in early access?
I don't agree that being like Dead Cells is a good thing. I love Dead Cells, I'm still playing ( 3BC ) even today. Maybe I'll get to 5bc one day! However I already have Dead Cells. I'm not interested in playing Dead Cells but not really. To be honest this looks hugely MEH. I wish the team had decided to do something else instead. I'm disappointed by this.
I don’t think it’s a dead cells skin, but it’s hard to ignore the similarities. They have said it’s not just a re skin. There does look to be a lot more traversal and story, which are staples of the Persia series. There is also probably a lot we don’t know at the moment as well. Evil Empire have earned enough credit with me from their work on Dead Cells. Only about a quarter of the studio have been working on this as well, so the good news is that if you aren’t interested, something else is in development too
I agree it's very early days and I'll be open minded. As you said, there might be a lot more too it. I'm just really disappointed it's so similar. This isn't what i was hoping for. But yeah let's wait and see!
