  • The Alfa Romeo GTV6 with it’s 2.5-liter V-6, rear-mounted transaxle, and de Dion suspension - it convincingly outclassed it’s contemporary competitors like the Datsun 280ZX and Porsche 924 Turbo.

I owned a GTV6 exactly like this for 5 years, it was a brilliant car to drive. I used to leave the sunroof open in tunnels just so I could hear the engine’s music.

Ha Ha Yes, I appreciate that. Different I know but I had an Alfasud and would drive it everywhere with a window half open, even in the rain, just to hear the music of the engine. I have had better cars but the Alfa was the only one I truly fell in love with.

I’m biased. Currently enjoying a rust free 1986 w/39,000 original miles. Everything works. I’ve kept it stock except for a few mild suspension mods to get the stance correct and less body roll in corners. Enjoying it very much. Very underrated car.

Nice video. I have one. Since 1995 i drive such a car. I have almost all parts triple as spare. It has to be restored and is now totally dismantled. I miss the driving and the best sound of it. I also have the window crank with the car. Now i am transfering a stable into a 8x12m garage so that i can work on my cars. Regards from Belgium.

The gtv6 is my favorite Alfa Romeo, my father had one, he says it was the best car he ever had. The sound of the Busso is music to my ears, it's a lovely sound

What’s the one word to describe GTV6’s? GLORIOUS !!!!!
I purchased mine used in 1990. It’s currently out of paint, side glass and trim back in, and the dash is out being recovered. Have some transmission work to finish, and the engine to reinstall. Speaking of the transmission it’s out of an Alfa 75/Milano Verde with the 3.55 R&P and shimmed up LSD. I have Giro Disc brakes all around (slightly larger diameter, much thicker, and aluminum hats) and currently on 16” OZ Volcano wheels (beautiful but heavy). Someday I’ll have lighter wheels on it. Likely 17’s since the tire selection for 16’s is dwindling. The 2.5L V6 is long gone and now has the later 4-Cam variant of the Busso with GTA cams and custom FI. As you’d expect it has polyurethane bushings all around and slightly stiffer torsion bars and rear springs. I’m actually too tall for this car so I had to extend the steering 3.5” to clear my knees and place a thin shell racing seat for head and leg room.
Like so many Alfas, this car is huge fun to drive with mine now having the pull to really rocket past heavy trucks on short up-hill stretches. I’m looking forward to another 20+ years of ownership.

Great video, car & owner! Congratulations on this long term relationship- couldn’t agree more with every word said. I am still excited every time I get into mine - despite 40 years of up and downs of Alfetta ownership! Keep reving …

I think driving Alfa cars are about feeling and emotions. 0-60 and top speed aren't the major winning points here.

I had an Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV6 Production serie (something like little bit more than 200 cars, dispatched between 2.0 liters and 2.5 V6 Busso)... I destroyed it, and regret it so much ... 🇮🇹🍀

You see, the German car lobby brain washed even Alfisti. What the hell means it has it's corks?? WHICH CAR HAS NON??? To have a rear window in a GT, that you can turn down(at least to 60%), is not corquy, but unique and sexy. That was my feeling as I bought my first GTV 2 liter. I couldn't belirce that the maker of the car even thought about a rear window able to be turned down. Which other GT has such a window in the rear??? The instruments of the V6, I had a black metallic one, with a/c from Alfa, which was rare for a North European sold car. The clocks were more straight on the 2 liter first Alfetta Series, with only the rpm clock alone behind the stearing-wheel, and the rest all in the middle console. The 25% differential closer, saved me a few crashes and probably my life. No car in this price segment could offer only close, what the GTV offered, especially the V6. The 75 still has the feeling of the GTV, especially both 3 liters including the SZ, which I had for ca. 1 years.
