- In this video, we’ll be going over the top 20 class-flavored utility spells in both the Classic and modern versions of the game. These spells are all iconic of the class they represent, and they are also quite nifty, but usually in a more novel and subtle way.

- #WoW #WorldofWarcraft #warcraft - Hry
Druid > Dreamwalk > Hyjal Portal > Capital City portal right in front of the lodge.
Look what druids have to do to replicate a fraction of a mage's power
fun fact - Underwater breathing from locks was actually REALLY good in BFA - specifically in the Shrine of the Storm M+. that dungeon has a group of mobs who are littered along a bridge between Lord Stormsong and Vol'zith, who will cast a debuff that is essentially a globe of water engulfing your head that does ticking damage. If a Warlock casts Underwater breathing on the person with that debuff however, they won't take damage because they wont be drowning as, well... they can breath.
made those mobs so much easier to bring a warlock along with you on a key
Kind of expected Wild Charge to be on here. It's a different ability for each druid form
As a Mage, I saw the title and IMMEDIATLEY had a smug look on my face. We were straight up blessed with abilities so having a small chunk of this list is no surprise. Plus you knew number 1 was going to be teleport/portal without any doubt at all...and by a mile too.
More than makes up for the glacially slow Mage base move speed.
@@Crumbdumpster27 Shimmer, Shimmer, cry while shimmer charges. Trust me when we got the foxform from night fae is SL I was LOVING life...every other time? C R A W L I N G!
Same here haha, after 13 years I barely have any alts since I can’t stand leveling without teleport
Omg I cringe thinking about using my non main mage alts. Imagine being a loser with no Portals
@@kevinbrown6285 Everytime I say the words "flight master" or "portal room" it makes me throw up a bit inside xD
WoD Aspect of the Fox deserves to be here. Raid wide buff that allowed everyone to cast while moving, it was insane. The original Raise Ally was also very flavorful, bringing someone back as a Ghoul. Thunderstorm and similar abilities are also noteworthy for their meme potential in wiping Eye of the Storm groups as well as defending Thunderbluff.
any heroic leapers?
need more rage
Or warbanner
Always to defy the laws of physics. Especially when jumping off high areas.
I miss that legendary that let me leap thrice. I remember several times chilling in draenor and getting attacked randomly by horde. Three leaps and a mount up and outta there.
@@Kirchhoffs the shadowlands legendary got the same effect having 6heroic leaps as fury war makes you the best FC at WG returning the flag less then minute and none can chase you open world or at BGs
22:26 "If you're a protection paladin in PCP"
Rogue's Shroud and Vanish are great too 😮
Great video bud. You've really put in some work these last few vids, both WoW and the PTCG. I'm impressed. Been watching your vids for years and I gotta say this last year has been your best improvement. Keep up the good work.
"ca-nine out of ten" is a pun worth living for
Dang. I was hoping to see the Rogue's Grappling Hook. It gives a blink-like movement but is unhindered by ledges unless you target behind a small hill. It is good for escaping as it can allow the rogue to climb a ledge where by normal means isn't possible. Good for closing the gap between the player and their target. And can also negate fall damage. I've jumped down from the Seat of the Aspects numerous times, used my hook and all damage is null. There are talents that extends the range and I believe lowers the CD and add charges.
But only 1 spec can use it, not the entire class!
@@petrameyer1121 frick you're right! 🤣😅
For rogues, I would argue that "Distract" is a much better utility option than Lock pick. Distract is still used in stuff today. You can use it to stop mobs that are patrolling, break certain mobs that are spawning ect...
4:00 insert Zerith Mortis waterwalking meme
Great video!
And about my few cents - you mentioned earth elemental for shamans who get into pickle as it would be a short temorarry tank. That is very fair and i guess on this list would not appear the Inferno summon from Warlock. But i just wanted to mention it as Warlock gameplay in early wow was very often about Juggle your Health to get it back from enemy, so a wrong pull that made your pet killed while you burned your HP for mana often lead to death. However in such situations i loved to use inferno that stunned, tanked and burned all enemies around, while i could get back on my feet and after combat is done i would go back to normal pet once more.
2:20 Not sure if that was an intentional reference, but if it was I got it :)
Zen pilgrimage and death gate are actually less useful if you do the legion campaign as the only advantage they have over a dalaran hearthstone is cooldown. Outside of that if you are using the dalaran hearthstone it takes you to dalaran immediately cutting down a load screen.
Full agree, I avoid legion on dks because I hate going to the legion acherus
As a Pally, I've used the bubble far more often to avoid dying after falling off of stuff or just to take shortcuts by jumping off of things and bubbling right before landing (if you have Engineering and use the Tinker Kit on your Cloak you can actually do very good exploration in zones where flying isn't unlocked from the start by climbing the tallest possible thing and gliding off of it until the timer runs out, then just fall and bubble to go back and do it again in another direction :D).
In combat, even as a Tank, you still have mechanisms to heal and sustain yourself so having to use the Bubble usually means something has gone terribly wrong and you're likely to die anyway if you can't disengage (the bubble and Divine Steed work together to let you do that).
I don't really PvP, so I assume most folks use it there far more often with all the CCs going on.
This was fun to watch and listen to.
As someone playing Classic Cata, I have to mention Divine Intervention, because that is when DI was removed.
I know it's gonna be a good day when I get to start with Hiru and DuelLogs ❤ you're the best man
last time i leveled a rogue through retail i completely forgot i had lockpicking
How is feign death not on this list! It’s saved me thousands of gold and deaths!
fun fact, in the trial of valor raid. Some of the adds at the start have an ability called "horror of the drowned" which essentially acts as running out of breath. But on land, you could circumvent this by having a warlock give the entire raid unending breath
also a druids wild charge in travel mode can make you do a small jump, so you can also cancel out fall damage if timed well
Nice editing... previous video's title at the start
To add to Death Gate and Zen Pilgrimage:
Dream Walk from Druids works the same, it places you where you started on recast. Meaning it's a great tool if somebody forgot to reset a dungeon, or you need to summon a raidmember who was late and don't have a warlock. Just cast it twice and end up in front of the raid and its summonstone :)
the rogues vanish is 100% one of the strongest class utility spells in classic it could save you from any spell with the perfect timing in pvp, It can avoid raid mechanics in pve and in the open world let rogues do things solo other classes just couldn't do.
Resisted
21:46 - In The War Within, Frost/UH Death Knights can have a similar ability through the Rider of the Apocalypse hero spec (replaces Death's Advance), and I for one can't wait for it.
Not sure if anyone'll get it but, is the debuff on Demon Gateway a sort of hard once per turn or is it like a soft once per turn?
Is there a video that goes over all defensive abilities for arena?
I'm currently at 1795 in 2s and I don't know the class defensive
As a druid, where is travel form and its variants? Fast running outside in combat, fast swimming and water breathing, instant flying(that can interact with objects without "dismounting"), all on a single button?
I feel like he was avoiding travel forms because as he explained shape-shifting is a big part of the druids class and its honestly moreso the ability than any of the actual forms themselves, so since shape-shifting is the ability is less utility and more like it's own thing?
you mentioned warlock healthstones, which i would personally class as utility because they are "emergency" heals with a little cooldown, basically free health pots, but then didn't list them
I don't play WoW atm, but my favourite is by far Ghost Wolf.
It is simple, but it is so useful that I can hardly play any other class since going without it makes me feel super slow and clunky.
I agree that portals are number one. But personally, my favorite spell is leap of faith. I like to watch people who aren’t aware they’re about to get hit by a knock off the edge, mechanic and grip after they get blasted makes me look like a hero
I like standing in the fire and life gripping my friends in to cook with me.
There are two types of priests…
Ya it's pretty badass to see it happen. Especially when done at the last second. You know, so you can witness their panic and immediate praise.
Reminds me of a story from mists/warlords(not certain which one). Long story short was in warsong gulch on a death knight, dude came up to lumber mill and was giving us absolute hell, whispered the priest a simple message, catch me, and jumped off the cliff death gripping the dude off with me before the priest leap of faithed my dumb ass back onto the ledge, watched the poor sod splat on the ground.
I like setting up portals in lfr runs ontop of feasts or soulstone wells lol
Why no druid wild charge? Leap back in boomkin, leap behind enemy in cat, reverse leap of faith in normal/fly form, long jump in stag form, underwater "sprint" in seal form. I can't even count how many times it saved me form fire in raids and how many "impossible unless DH" jumps I did outdoors. Also (if timed right) you can fall from a cliff and take no dmg, kinda like with blink, but you stay in your ground mount form. It's insanely useful if done right.
Also on levitate - you didn't mention the pseudo-flying it grants - if you sprint off of a tall cliff/dismount mid-flight and then levitate you can fly in a straight line at a declining angle for long distances in no-mount zones. One of the better ones is getting to the dinosaur island in Pandaria or straight up floating from one end of the Legion map to the other (before you get flying there).
Divine shield is silently nerfed in Dragonflight raids post Vault of Incarnates. The text says immunity to ALL damage and harmful effects. But for some reason every other debuff after that raid still goes through. A massive fail on Blizzards part not understanding what the word ALL means.
With Dreamwalk the portals are niche but good for farming old content, Duskwood Portal is good for both Zul'Gurub and Kara, and Hyjal is near Firelands, all have mounts (and the old classic era sets got re-added to ZG), and Druids orderhall is right outside the Emerald Nightmare if you're farming the Xavius shoulders. So yeah, out of the way but at least they have a use.
I do miss the crit buff spell mages had, focus magic i think it was called, could put it on a class that tends to crit often and in return increase your chance to crit when they get a crit.
So you put it on another mage ?
@@Taranis00 Fire Mage mostly, Ele Shaman or even Destro Warlock with the built in crit from lavaburst and chaos bolt.
Watching this while playing. I literally blinked at the same time he announced Blink.
Have we even crafted seaforium since cataclysm?
You were on fire with the puns this video
No hunters :( feign death has saved me repair costs multiple times lol
Maybe if it was every time.
Shadowmeld
Seraform? Sea for ium
My only experience with Leap of Faith are people being pulled close to fatal edges while they're walking.
Nice new channel logo
- Mechagnomes of any class can lockpick too with a racial
- Shamans used to give underwater breathing too, but then it was given exclusively to warlocks at some point
UHmmm Bobble heartstone was fixed by them giving Heartstone a 10seconds cast time instead of 8 seconds. And it have actually been like this since last Vanilla. (Heck Goraks Guide to Azeroth have one episode were they meme on this)
I got Atiesh back in classic, about every third raid i'd drop a kara portal, so it wasn't constant but it'd catch people.
Then TBC came and i got bothered with kara portals all the time!
I knew Mage Portals was going to be Number 1. It defines the class. If for some reason Blizz ever removed those 2 abilities, I could easily see a mass exodus of Mage mains. They are necessary to counter the atrocious Mage base move speed.
Sigils from Dh will change how the tanks should play in wow atm. And make dps and healers dont need to do anything in m+
I hate leap of faith, because it seems like it’s almost always used in a trolling way. Was running a timewalking dungeon earlier on my Druid tank and running to the next trash pack in cat form, and the priest troll-gripped me back just to be an ahole.
Geniuenly amazed ring of peace isn't on here as it's probably the most versatile ability in the entire game
I think utility means more generally used outside of combat. Calling Ring of peace utility is like saying warrior shockwave and DH sigil of chains is utility.
Mages slow fall is better than priests levitate due to one place Arathi Basin. I regularly needed multiple stacks for AB weekend.
Kinda wild to not see shroud of concealment here to be honest.
The Spectral Lupin glyph is missing for the ghost wolf but not really important. Turns you into a spectral Zereth Mortis wolf.
Rescue doesn't cancel your casts like leap of faith does so for me rescue>leap of faith
10:30 you can cast soul stone on a dead person in retail at least since SL
Good video but I think more spells should have been featured such as: Rogue's sprint, Monk roll, Angelic feather, Feign death, warlock healthstone, all of druid forms, heroic leap, grappling hook
All of these are below the ones in the video. There might be a path where Heroic Leap would make the cut but I just don't see it. Druid forms don't count as utility otherwise this would be a long list of mage spells.
Didn’t druids have teleports to moonglade? Is that still a thing? Just for no 17
Yes with a stop in between in the dream grove.
Btw, rescue is much better as it gives a shield to both the rescued and the rescuer
Aa both a mage and warlock player, while having portals is abig convenience, I would argue the summoning stone is a far better utility in group content like dungeons and raids, and it's not even close
I came into this thinking either teleport or the old death knight shadow of death would be the top, then you weren't including abilities like shadow of death and I figured teleport had to be number 1 then
Little fun lore the mana buns and pudding are bland and soupy
What about shroud?
DH glide ability is better than any glider because it is usable everywhere.
i was expecting symbiosis tbh :D technically it's a ultility?
*confused warrior stare*
Me just smash things! Zug
Might troll and try to convince newer players the Ancient Portal will get them to the new start zone for WW
i have seen Leap of Faith beeing used for annoying and killing other party members more than for helping them 😅
Where is deathgrip charge?
Windfury totem from classic era
I am almost certain this is the same voice as TheManaLogs and TheDuelLogs. Even the character font seems similar. 🤔
How did mass dispel not make it 😢
Yawn.
No blood lust?
*Something cool from Classic:* exists
*Blizzard:* Removed in Cataclysm
most of these exist in cataclysm but were actually removed in either wod or legion
most didin't removed in cata ...
ignorant hater identified
I killed a lot of people during my time in WotLK with path of frost
You can always tell how casual of a player he is based on the way he ranks things. Not that it's an insult, just a very funny observation. Less casual players will go out of their way to cheat to have permanent, slow fall cups because of how valuable they can be
IF you havent done the legion campain as a dk you end up in the eastern plague lands,
from there you can enter naxx when you made the hole old naxx q line,
i run naxx with one of my dks semi regular because i still collect stuff for the t3 sets and the frost resistens transmog
What? They put Old Naxx back in the game? So that would mean Highlord Mograine is back as well? That MF got my goddamn sword. When Blizzard told the players that they accidentally deleted Naxx, I immediately thought that they just needed time to remake it and i was just going to have to live without my sword for a bit. Guess I was right. Those lazy piec..................
Mages all the way 😁
The Warrior have nothing 😢
hello hiru
What, no stealth?!? Can afk without getting killed, can get out a fighting zone when "kill 8 boars" quest is done without pulling more creatures, can vanish during a wipe and skip the death and run time and so on.
Bring up warlock water breathing but not shaman water breathing, which also in older versions required a reagent to cast making it even more annoying.
I've been casting path of frost for what, 16 years now? Not gonna forget to turn it on instead of using water strider mount equipment. It doesnt dismount you to cast it and follows just the global CD + 1 rune, I usually spam it as I'm running around doing stuff. You also didnt mention the utility in dungeons where you fall into water pits. Jump first, turn on path of frost before anyone else hits the water and enjoy the laughs as they enter the AoE. Most people dont dive down so they just plummet to their doom.
The Eastern Plaguelands Acherus is leagues better for alliance player DKs, sure it doesnt have a portal but it allows very quick access to the northern regions of Eastern Kingdoms. Makes farming Scholo/strat/scarlet waaay quicker. I just set my normal hearthstone to wotlk Dalaran and then you get a legion Dalaran hearthstone doing the questline so having the dalaran portal in Acherus is kind of worthless, its like a 1 minute flight. Yes theres the naxx portal to EP now if you do that whole quest chain but I'm sure a lot of people havent done it.
Goblin Glider Kit cant be used in some instances also you have to physically use the item, DH and dracthyr glide are superior in every way.
DK combat res doesnt NEED to be done in combat, you just need 40 runic power. If you end the fight with excess runic power, just click on it and click who you want to revive, can also be used on people who have released spirit.
Dracthyre are just mages with wings huh?
World of Magecraft 🧙♂️ 🕳️
Lust 💯 should have been number 1. As an m+ player not having a lust can easily mean not timing a key. Portals are a great QOL but nowhere near as good
imo rescue is a lot better than leap of faith
Haven’t played since early bfa, Zandalar trolls can be paladins!? Seems complete ba
Mana isn’t an issue in the modern game? Then explain my rsham!!!
thats on you then. mine never ran out of mana
Zug zug from nagaland
Neat =)
Homie not a single person in this game uses mount equipment to waterwalk your fried
Interesting that underwater breathing is just not a thing with dragonflight, you just equip the fishing rod in your fishing journal and you just always have unending breath
23:40 Eh no, Hover is not like blink. It's more like sprint. You will learn this very quickly player evoker if you try to hover over shit on the floor and die. Mages actually teleport. Hence they are adding in a new spell called Warp in the new Expac that does exactly blink you forward.
How Rescue didn't make it on here I don't know :D
Because rescue is a TALENT! Not a class ability.
@@petrameyer1121 So is leap of faith, still in the class tree. Which makes it a class utility ability.
@@MrPbhuh But Leap of Faith is Badass. And rescue just looks, well....silly.
Rescue was a sort of honorable mention when talking about leap of faith, he said it wasn't on the list because it was more complicated (i.e. slower) to use and had a shorter range.
Anyway, I love hover a lot. It's pretty much the perfect distance to run from the Valdrakken AH to the mailbox or back and it's nice that it means you can cast spells when moving. Also, by not being an actual teleport, it gets stuck on things a lot less than blink which is very strict, and even if you do hit something, the movement speed increase after using it means you still get a lot of the benefit. I miss it (and glide) a lot when playing my mage alt.
*cries in useless warrior*
Also incredible that mages had all of those in vanilla.
Definitely favoritism
levitate is better than slow fall because you can levitate over water and works as water walking (ofc you cant mount but its still something slowfall doesnt provide)
He said that in the video.
Ya walking on water is ok but...Mounting up and flying in Battlegrounds.
half of these are combat spells
aspects are more useful than ghost wolf lol
every evoker ability is a racial
