- Check out these 12 hidden Mazda features you need to know about in this video!
OK, so full disclosure - they're not really "secret", but some of these are buried deep in the owner's manual, making it annoying to find them. To me, that makes them kind of hidden if you don't read the owner's manual in its entirely, like a car geek like me lol.
Luckily, you can just watch this video to learn all about it. And, they're mostly available on all 4th gen Mazdas - not just the Mazda 3!
Also, credit given to the following 2 CZcams channels as well as the Mazda 3 owner's manual for these ideas: @RobbieFerreira and @CARDIAXPLAYS.

Edit: Hey everyone - I've been getting reports in the comments that some of these tips may or may not work on certain models and in certain regions. I should have done better research! Please feel free to rip me apart in the comments and let me know if these do or don't work on your car! It was not my intention to mislead anyone.
Also...I faffed up and accidentally shot this video in 720p. I won't let that happen again lol..I'll make sure to provide 4K video from now on!
If I missed anything or made a mistake, please leave a comment below!
Oh and while I'm on the subject of things my '21 CX-5 does NOT have.....not only can I NOT open the windows as you showed, I'll bet you can't do what my 2007 Lexus ES350 can....which is......Say all the windows are wide open, and it starts to rain....so you run outside and what? Go in the car, turn on the ignition, one-by-one close the windows? Nope...Just press the button on ANY one of the 4 door handles, and hold it for a few seconds.....ALL the windows close, including the sunroof.
Sorry I got to say I am in UK 2024 model and I have learned a lot from your video. Thanks
@@olafbenz1 I'm glad to hear that, thanks!!
@@stephenbay9564 that is truly a great feature. Lexus for the win 😎
With memory seats (that includes the mirrors and HUD settings), you can also program each key fob to its own setting as well. Same procedure, just press the fob unlock button instead of the 1 or 2 memory button.
Oh that's an awesome tip!! I wish I'd have known about that before making the video haha.
It’s fun when the wife beats me to the car, and it adjusts to her.
Thanks! I absolutely hate the adaptive cruise - I find it puts me in more dangerous situations than without it (i.e. on roads curving left when I'm in passing lane, and it picks up someone in the right lane and slams on the brakes)
I'm glad you found the video useful! Yes, it certainly can be dangerous in some instances. Hope this helps.
I love the tilt side mirror feature. Nice to be able to see the curb when parking to avoid scratching the rims. I wasn’t aware of the feature that allows you to roll the windows down from the fob. That’s pretty cool! I’ll have to try it out. Funny, I was going to search how to deactivate the fob I’m not currently using to save the battery. Thanks for the tips! Stay warm!
✌🏻👍🏻✌🏻
Absolutely!! It really helps prevent the dreaded curb rash lol.. hate when that happens. And yes - truth be told, I had no idea about that, either..but happy to have found out about it :) Thanks for stopping by!
@@mikescardiaries i think mine , is not lowering down the mirror as i go in reverse i have automatic . Any settings i should check .
thanks for posting. Is there a way of raising the windows with the remote? Thx
Hey my pleasure! Sadly, I don't think there is. Would have been nice though eh? Lol.
They sell a kit on Allie express I believe that allows ya to put windows up using key fob, but I have yet been able to find it
Just one more hidden feature.
I’ve test drove the new 2024 CX-5, and all who have found the steering to be heavily weighted to steer. I have the perfect solution, Turn OFF the traction control. Now you can use 1 finger to drive your car in tight places. This is also true for my 2019 CX-3.
Where do you go to disable the traction control? New owner here
@@padraig88 TCS button above the hood release. On my cx-3. I know cx-5 has the same.
Is there a way to enable the touch screen in motion on 2021 Model or it is just for newer? I think I don't have that setting checkmark...
It may only be available in later models...I'm not 100% certain. There are so many trims in so many markets from various model years..it's hard for me to know them all 😔
@@mikescardiaries and on top of that difference between regions :D
Thanks for the information because I recently purchased Mazda CX 30 2024 and all these gadgets I don’t understand them so thanks for the info.
Hey Isabel, thanks for watching. I hope these work for you! Let me know if any of them don't.
My understanding is that all is in the reference manual and other issue Mazda dealership would help. I suppose that depends on which country you are in.
Thank you 👍
It's my pleasure!!
Remarkable
I have the 2021 cx5. Can the car lock with the key fob inside the car. Just thinking what if I accidentally left key fob in car and manually locked the doors and got out.
I don't believe that's possible. If you have both key fobs on you, and you leave one in the car, you can still lock it from the outside, but it'll beep at you to let you know, "hey, your OTHER key fob is in the car" lol. Otherwise, if you only have one key fob with you, the car will NOT let you lock it inside the car.
Yes you can based off of information I read in my 2021 CX-9 manual. It said it depends on where you sit the key. I had no idea and literally read this today. I was looking for something in my book about my back doors locking from the inside where my passenger can’t get out until I unlock it.
Regarding i-stop, or also known as engine shutdown at full stops, you can use a light pressure on brake pedal when stopped which will keep engine running. Press harder on the pedal when stopped and engine will shut down.
You do not need to use the dash button to use this feature.
Which vehicle(s) is this available on? The Mazda 3 doesn't have that.
Mazdas with i stop feature, such as CX 50.@@mikescardiaries
very informative video, I just picked up a Mazda 3 Hatch as well this year! thanks for this video of tips & tricks. cheers
Hey that's awesome. How are you liking it so far, and what color? Thanks for stopping in 😊
got a 2021 mazda 3 pp turbo and the remote window roll down doesnt work for me any help?
Hey thanks for watching! It theoretically should work... What country are you in? I've been getting some reports that some functions don't work in some regions. Try it again..or try hold on the 3rd click (instead of the 4th like I mentioned in the video).
Great video.....was quite a tease.....I have a '21 CX-5 Grand Touring.....almost none of those things worked on it. Writing just to let you know some of the limits of coverage.
That's a damn shame..really sorry to hear that. My research should have been more thorough. Which ones did not end up working?
@@mikescardiaries I have a '21 cx-5 grand touring.....NO (all of the following): windows down w/key fob 4 x's.....gas lid touch open.....child proof has a lever there - don't need key.....my side mirrors fold automatically when I lock the doors. NO back-up tilt of side mirrors. '21 has 10 inch screen, but NO touch ever. Liftgate will only open with that rear button if the doors are unlocked. Am surprised yours can. It means ANYONE can open your hatch, anytime, no matter where you are. Sure is easy way to get into the vehicle and steal whatever.
@@stephenbay9564 That's really interesting. It would be impossible for me to test every car from every model year..so I'm glad you gave these a shot. My next videos really need to be a lot better researched!
This is to be expected. The CX5 rides on Mazda's older platform, similar to the CX9 and Mazda6. They likely don't have many of these niche features. The newer stuff is only found on newer models, notably CX-30, CX-50, Mazda3s and CX-90 and further on.
@@mikescardiaries For the record, I DID now try the "button on the shifter" (automatic) to see if it would stay in access mode, and it does. One thing you did not mention is the "proximity" unlock door handles. My 2007 Lexus ES350 had them on all four doors.....fast forward to 2021, and the best Mazda could do is give me a button to press on the door handle. I "heard" the newer (than '21's) have the proximity thing. If what that is is not clear, it means if the door is locked, you do NOTHING except bring your hand to, and through the handle....and the mere act of being that close to the handle triggers the unlock. Do you have that?
How do you take the power saving off the key fob ?😭
Do the same thing again lol. Should have clarified 😂
There is also a way to pull up the windshield wipers for maintenance by pressing (if I remember correctly) the ignition and windshield wiper lever 3 times. this will remain stationary on the glass for maintenance. Do you know It? Regards
Ahhhh yes I'm so upset that I missed that!! I know that too...lol
Many new cars have it (like Honda and Hyundai etc) and it's not very useful IMO, I'd rather be able to raise it manually.
@@samdovels1234 Yeah, I completely agree with you here. Besides, sometimes when I go to place them back down, my car doesn't recognize that they're actually touching the windshield and sometimes keeps saying "please put the wipers down to use them"... like DUH hahah they ARE. So annoying sometimes
I love that your car is stick shift
Me too!! Thanks for watching!
Opening the windows did not work for me. 2021 CX5
In yours it might be 3 clicks and hold...like the old style. It should work one way or another...
Always wondered what the button on the stick did 😂 thanks
"The button on the stick"? Lol, I'm not sure I follow
@@mikescardiaries your tip at 3:20
@@akshayy_xd Ahhhh gotcha!!! Did you try it, and did the tip work?
@@mikescardiaries car's in the shop, will update ya lol
@@akshayy_xd Yes, please do! The more info I have about this the better. Hopefully, your car isn't getting fixed for anything too serious...
It's sad the Mazda is among the only few car manufacturers that don't offer remote start on the key fob.
They do. Just not on the manual tranny for obvious reasons. Maybe not in all countries/markets...
@@mikescardiaries it's only available on the app, not on the key fob (at least not in the USA)
@@samdovels1234 oh righttttt...my mistake. You're absolutely right. Thank you for that. I had forgotten
Was so excited to try these on my mx-5. Nope 😅 not all mazda
Ahhh, sorry for your trouble! It was worth the try though 😔
Thank god for this video. I had empty tank for a month. Couldn't find a way to open my fuel cap.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not...but if not, thanks for watching haha. Glad it was helpful!
Windows open fuction doesn't work on European models :(
Really??? That's very interesting. Thanks for sharing
@@mikescardiaries Yes, even horn sound when unlocking car isn't present In Europe, but I am proud owner of very rare 6speed manual AWD Mazda 3 with 2.0l e-skyactiv X engine(186hp) which is only available in select markets
The car will lock with the key inside if key is "sleeping " you can open if your app active.
Thanks for the comment. That's really helpful :)
How to tilt side mirrors for 2024 Mazda 3 automatic? Can’t seem to get it to work.
This is the same car I have. What region are you in? Maybe it's not available there? Select the left or right side, then just put your car in reverse. It should work this way 🙂
@@mikescardiaries I am in BC, Canada. Will try again using what you said. Hope it works.
@@sanjibandas8718 It may also only be the higher trims..which one do you have? I'm not certain if it works for the GX or GS trims...let me know and report back!
I have the GS trim, looks like it doesn’t work
@@sanjibandas8718 Ahh man, really sorry to hear that. But to be fair, I don't really use it myself lol. It's sort of a gimmick.
I think the ability to roll the windows down via key fob isn’t available on all trims..or I’m doing something wrong.
*2019 preferred Mazda 3
Ahhhh really? Maybe try one less click.. I thought that worked for some folks.
@@mikescardiaries appreciate it! 👍
If you have a manual mazda like mine, just press the start button while the trasmission is in neutral to have only the accessories turned on
Yes for sure, but I'm talking about when the engine is still on.
@Bribens_ I have same car Mazda 2. in Australia
I was waiting for the "hidden" features. Two at most.
Thanks for watching!
I've just bought a mazda cx30 . Why would you want to unlock the car with the key for and drop the windows. It's never warm enough in the UK 😂
Fair point. Point taken hahaha
You need to revise your use of "automatically" brother 😢. "If you drive an automatic transmission vehicle, you can put it in manual mode so you can automatically select your gears."
You're right - I had misspoken. We all make mistakes brother. Thank you for being understanding of that :)
There is no need to click the button. Put it in your pocket and walk to the car and the side mirror with unfold, then hold the handle and the door will open. Also turn the car of when leaving with key fob in pocket and walk away the mirror will fold and the door is locked automatically.
Thanks for your comment, but I think you didn't listen to the video. I live here in Canada, and we don't have automatically folding side mirrors. They're manual only. For other people in other markets, yes this could work.
Wait what in other places the car mirrors fold?
@@sinwarrior3538 I think the US got auto-folding mirrors for 2024..
Using the button inside
@@mikescardiariesIndeed! In many EU countries, like Poland the same - all have that super feature.
@@Przemas79 What the heck? Hahah why not in Canada?! 😂 It's a great feature!
Touch screen in display console is only for top trim level i believe
That makes me shake my head. My '14 GS (mid trim) had a touchscreen. Seems like Mazda likes to take more away over time...
No rap you can fold the side mirrors manually? Who could expect that?😂
Yeah lol especially when they're electronic in some markets. Makes me shake my head lol
like for the simple fact that it's a manual
Thanks for watching!
Hidden tips and tricks…like how to open the gas door…or the hatch…
I appreciate you stopping by to check out the video. I'm sorry it didn't meet your expectations! I love that you focused solely on the items you perceive to be of lower quality/unhelpful. Comments like this are helpful for me to make the content better. Cheers.
Open the gas door, click it with a push while the doors are unlocked. 🔓
🫠the first one, open all the windows by keyfob is not available in my mazda3 😮💨im from Malaysia
Oh really?? That's interesting. I wonder why Mazda decided to not include this feature in Malaysia 😞
@mikescardiaries ya.. Malaysia need it so much... here is so damn hot.. open all windows before enter the car can release the heat ..
The same in Italy... Windows open/close don't works with click on the remote...
@fabrizioc7644 not sure this feature can enable thru coding?
It's available on the 2023 cx30 in Aussie
