  • The Dugan family experienced carbon monoxide in their home from a corroded burner on the stove. Sarah Dugan was awakened by ADT team member LatTonza Gaston calling from the ADT monitoring center to alert her that firefighters were already on their way and to get out of the house.
Without ADT monitored protection and a fast response from rescuers, Sara believes she and her two daughters would have gone to bed and not woken up.

Carbon monoxide is also called the silent killer, engine exhaust, engine gas, it has a lot of names. But no matter what you call carbon monoxide, it is always deadly.

No, gas is safe if you know what you're doing and you are aware of the hazards. It's when you don't get appliances inspected and checked, you're not cleaning and caring for your appliances, and have dirty, corroded parts is when you can have a problem. But either way, if you are dealing with a mysterious flu that seems to have come from nowhere, the flu disappears when going outside, yellow pilot light, slurred speech, mysterious headache, erratic walking, nausea, mysterious collapse of people in your family, and especially, Heaven forbid, if your entire family has the flu, SHUT OFF ALL GAS APPLIANCES, GET YOUR FAMILY OUT OF THE HOUSE, AND CALL 911! Because, you may have carbon monoxide. And, even if you are wrong, it shouldn't count as a false alarm. It's better safe than sorry.
And, always have a carbon monoxide detector. But, gas is not dangerous.
