    Great and honest video about Palm Harbor

    I live in Palm Harbor and even tho (last time I checked our pop here) there's about 230,000 ppl that live here, it feels like living in a smaller community bc I swear it's like everyone knows everyone! It has that small town feel even tho it's far from it! I've lived all over the general area. I grew up in Pasco County-in the Holiday/New Port Richey area, & when my husband and I first started dating I lived in Brandon. He had a house in South Tampa, so when we moved in together, I lived AND worked in South Tampa. And in 2012, we wanted to find an area that was a little more family-oriented (the bar known as The Green Iguana was in our backyard, separated by one street, Westshore, lol, and the neighborhood didn't have sidewalks for kids to walk on- not to mention the amount of flooding that happens in ST when we would get any amt of rain!) My parents lived in PH first and we followed suit about a year after we had our first-born. So it's been 13 years now, as of this past July 4th and I love our neighborhood and our neighbors too, which is honestly hard to find anywhere you live! In this neighborhood, as soon as a house is listed, it's grabbed up so fast that I feel bad for people looking for to move here. I've noticed that they're no longer even posting 'For Sale' signs in the front yards of these homes bc by the time they get around to it, the house has sold! I'm not even kidding! I also cannot believe how much we paid for our house in 2012 vs how much it's worth now in comparative. It's almost like we paid nothing for it back then compared to now (although we did have to resign ourselves that we would have to pay more to live here than we originally thought) and now it's worth almost more than double the original price. That, to me, is crazy! But we're not going ANYWHERE! Bc even if we did decide to move, it would cost just as much to buy anywhere else in this area; so were staying PUT! My girls are now 10 & 12-one in elementary and one in middle school, and they also love their schools.

    Palm Harbor is definitely a great place to live. We move in just before the houses went of the charts. I will tell you one thing. If you buy at a good price and then they re assess your home it’s shocking. My taxes went from 2500 to 6000. That was a hit I was not planning on. Check the tax estimator for taxes before buying. The summers are extremely hot and humid. I don’t mind it it but if you don’t like the heat you better think twice.

      Theres no way taxes should double like that. Is that your main home? There a homestead exemption that caps your taxes. So they can only go up like 10% a year

    • @Sony72604
      @Sony72604 Před 3 měsíci

      @@kitbiggz6135 Well they did. I wasn't homestead until the following year. Now my taxes won't go up by thousands. The old purchase price was 211. I bought for 345. The property values are at 545000. So they most certainly did go up that much.

    Are you sure that is not an osprey nest? Obviously, I can not see it well enough to be 100% certain, but, all things considered, it is more likely an osprey in a location like that.

    • @trulivingtampa
      @trulivingtampa  Před rokem +2

      You’re right. It could be an Osprey.

    • @eartraffic
      @eartraffic Před rokem +1

      Yes and I believe that pole (and many others around the county) are put up specifically for the nesting for Ospreys. Hammock park in Dunedin has one in the open field section of the park.

      A few months back I saw bald eagles a couple times in Largo, just south of Palm Harbor. They definitely were not osprey. I live in Alaska. Tons of bald eagles here, but I was surprised to see them in Florida.

    • @sophiemae8295
      @sophiemae8295 Před rokem +1

      @@overbuiltlimited Oh, we have plenty of bald eagles, just not likely to be nesting in a place like that.

    I didn't know that they prohibited swimming in Lake Tarpon now. When I was a kid in the 90s, we'd go tubing and I'd fall off, left floating in reeds and swampy-like water (on the edges of the lake) scared out of my MIND of Alligators, while the boat had to turn around to pick me up. I'm SO glad they changed that rule tho bc no one should be swimming in bodies of fresh water in Florida. Ever. The alligators rest on the bottom and wait

    • @chrismoper8191
      @chrismoper8191 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Screw that ill go to Anderson park for lunch or dinner sometimes and sit by the water with an audience of alligators yea no one should be swimming in that gator infested lake

    • @constantreader4376
      @constantreader4376 Před 9 měsíci

      @chrismoper8191 I do really love the park. One time I went with my then-boyfriend, now husband, and we had picked up Subway to eat at one of those tables close to the water - like where you're talking about. We also had our two dogs. One was big and one was a small Jack Terrier. Well a couple of Gators popped up when they heard our smaller dog bark at something and before we knew it, there were like 4 gators popping up all around that waterline. I was scared for my little dog so we hauled a$$ out of there and went up to the hill to sit there instead! But Anderson Park is my all time favorite park down here BECAUSE we get to see gators in their nat habitat. It's amazing. And the lake is gorgeous (when I'm not floating helplessly in it!)

    • @rickhumphreys5416
      @rickhumphreys5416 Před 4 měsíci

      Yea if you go to Anderson north east side of Lake tarpon near the boat lunch you will see just how many gators are in that lake smart to not let them swim in there the scenery is amazing and tranquil though both parks are incredible

    Our sail has shipped, there is no way in hell to ever move to Florida 😩😩😩 specially interest rate, our interest rate is 2.5..we lock that up and yes, can sell my house mad quick because there is a booming rate of New Yorkers moving to my area in New Jersey, but buying...not a chance 😢😢
