Master defenders who had other defenders play behind them like the Richard Sherman's the Deon sanders, Steven Atwater, Ray Lewis, larwance Taylor's. Those defense played great because of mentors like that.
We don't have defenders like that. I believe that with all my heart and soul. Name me another like Ronde barber omg! Or Ronnie Lott, etc ty law come in geen Charles Woodson were they all at nfl ain't the same the want to sell it but the can't no more ballers like that.
Or when in the 90s when they use to say Ray Lewis was to small but he reminded me like a Sam mills the great linebacker now what.

Jerry should hire Irvin as a motivational coach. He rallied his team in the 90's.
One thing I’ll say about Zim is he’s gonna bring Trevon and Bland’s game to the next level. Even Gilmore. Because Newman and PacMan’s careers looked over towards the end in Dallas and they went to Cincinnati with Zim and he revived their careers. Especially Newman who even followed him to Min and ended up having a really good long career because Zim.

Coming from a Vikings fan, he's solid at running a top defense. Only worry is him and handling players and connecting to them on a personal level. Players towards the end in Minnesota started to resent him.
They didn't start to resent him he was dealt a bad hand because the Vikings couldn't reload the defense for him. He was using bandages and spit to hold it together but the players were too old go look at the roster

Yes they have been missing that when the defensive side because they are all undisciplined and he will get them discipline and he will get that defense ready so they can be able to win football games and he will also have them very motivated to play much harder .

Key...Sherm didn't say Zimmer's style doesn't work in the NFL, he is saying with today's generation of players....and he is not necessarily wrong. But hopefully those who don't know strict, no nonsense coaching will grow to appreciate his style. Hopefully Zimmer brings a healthy balance.

I know I'm not the only one that got a good laugh when Skip said this Cowboys team "needs a Keyshawn in the locker room." The Jets, Bucs, Cowboys, and Panthers can't forget Meshawn Johnson, but it's not because of his performance. No team should ever want another one of him on the team. He is what they claimed T.O. of being. He wasn't a leader. He was a locker room cancer. He is not someone you want polluting an NFL locker room with how sensitive the players are today.
I think it was the year that Walsh missed the gimme FG against Seattle where Minnesota had a pretty damn good defense that season. Zimmer's got Diggs and Parsons as his starting blocks. Should be interesting to see depending on the draft and offseason, what he can scheme up

I'm 99.9999999-and-¾% certain of that because Dave Campo was still the head coach & Emmitt Smith was still on the roster.
I was in my 7th grade year of middle school when the 2002-2003 NFL season happened & wasn't sure about who some of the various members of the coaching staff were on various NFL teams because I was more familiar with the name of the head coach & the names of the players, but, that's another story for another day...
Y’all don’t know just how good Zim is as a DC. Talk about a perennial top five defense and where finishing in just the top 10 would be a down year. Wherever he’s left those defenses have fallen off.

@@kylegoodman5196nope. The Eagles and 49ers are fast smaller defenses and both made it to the Superbowl. Big defensive teams don't fare well in the NFL in the 2020's.
@@davidporter7051 The 49ers have a bigger defense than the Cowboys. These smaller defenses work in the AFC against more pass oriented teams. They get pushed around by bigger offensive lines.

Any Cowboys fan that was at training camp know dam well Dan Quinn wasnt calling any player out he was to friendly and the defense was celebrating great plays made in camp like they won the super bowl it was annoying. Cowboys defense was killing the offense in camp but when they played good teams in the regular season the defense didnt show up like the Bills game and 49ers game

It’s too bad DQ couldn’t figure out how to stop the run; he’s an excellent coach but once he lost interest in the Dallas D, teams butchered us in the second half of the season. He definitely changed the culture - more than I’ve seen with any coach except JJ. But Zimm is a great coach so it’ll be nice to have some discipline on our D again.

Hopefully, he's kept up with today's schemes because he may have been, as Irvin said, great back then. However, that was 30 years ago. I can't give Zim his crown until he shows up and earns it because, as soon as we see our defense get stomped, the fans will be calling for his head.
He was coaching in 2021 for Minnesota well the head coach and there Defenses were top 10 for 5 of the 7 years he was there
