Plus Rex was going to look out for his Twin 😂😂 and cowboy nation has already had a taste of him in the past 🥸🤢. I believe that was taken into consideration via the front office and they didn’t want to go through that with “Rob Drama” so going with Zim was probably the wiser choice.

I’m very happy with this hire as a longtime Cowboys fan and I believe he’ll work very well with McCarthy and without big Mike Mac having too look over his shoulder and I’ll add when it comes to the playoffs he’ll at least have them ready to go

Zim is a solid coach and brings that lunch pail approach that defense needs.
It just seemed like the one major thing that this defense lacked was discipline, be it gap support, or in the secondary. It will be interesting to see how good this defense could be with players who really learn how to play defense the right way. That includes adding true linebackers and adding genuine size up front to complement the light speed guys that they already have.
Rex Ryan is like his brother Rob who coached for Dallas in the past and his defense was a tragedy.
No Robs defensive is more complex.

That back end can be had when micah isnt getting pressure. U got put him in different spots for the offense to find him. Lining him up on the end all the time without another great rusher doesnt work all the time.

The Cowboys biggest problem on defense is not scheme. Their problem is that their top defensive players are small. Micah for example is small for a 4-3 defensive end. The Cowboys play in a much more run heavy conference compared to the AFC. They need to bulk up on the defensive line and at linebacker, and maybe even get a thumper at safety. You're not stopping the 49ers, Lions, Packers, and maybe the Eagles with a small, speed focused defense.

NGL. I for one welcome Zim back. He has players, his scheme will put player in position and we will hopefully get the running on us in check. Ellis is on staff too and we kept Harris who I think has proven he can coach the DBs. If not take more duties. Can’t wait for the draft and free agency to start.

Look around the league, scoring was down and all the best defenses rushed the passer and play a ton of cover 2. There were many young coaches that they could have hired instead of Zimmer.

They should've promoted Al Harris. The players like him and respond to him. This just prolongs the existing cultural issues in Big D. They need to get younger and get modern.
