  • I have been trying to figure out how to find new and exciting places to go. It has been difficult to even find locations to go explore. In this video I talk about the technique I heard from Jason over at Primal Outdoors where he uses Google Earth coupled with other tools, such as GaiaGPS, to map out areas of interest. So that is what I’m going to do - this video is the first part of an adventure. I have my idea of where I want to go and in the next video I’m going to go out and check it out!
Give Primal Outdoors a look - he has some incredible photography and stories for his adventures. He is really inspiring!

Lol thanks Sketti! I figured a screen grab from the video would be pretty boring.

Thanks Baron I really appreciate that! My hope is that people will enjoy this break from the seriousness of the other channel and just enjoy some uplifting tag along experiences! I suppose with the 80 subscriber count that’s not so much the case! LOL I really do enjoy creating for this channel though.

I'm a subscriber and really appreciate your videos. I'm pretty new at this and trying to tackle how to find spots in national forests and how to use Gaia apps.. While I do toggle back and forth between map view and satellite view on Google, it didn't occur to me to use Google Earth for more research. Thanks so much for that and especially for sharing your mistakes. I can relate!

Thank you so much for subscribing Vicky! Yeah some of these tools are super powerful but confusing! I hope you find a great place to go! I need to get back out and do an adventure, it has been too long!

I have Google Earth on my phone and GPS map camera as well. I work in remote areas during disasters throughout the US and sometimes you can only find addresses with GPS coordinates. So, in combination👍👍

Cool I’ll have to check that other one out. I’m getting ready to head out and will be out of coverage so a good way to test all of this out!

Thanks I really appreciate that! Yes we had a good time - it was interesting to have a failure and then a success with GaiaGPS. But all it all it was a good time - just too quick. These overnighters are rough because I'm setting EVERYTHING up as if I was going to be there for a few days. Although this is really becoming great practice!
