    You are awesome with your plow and quad man. You are one with your setup. What do you wear clothing wise to keep warm head to toe? bc I always end up getting cold. Also. What size memory do you have for your go pro, to be able to record so long? How do you have it mounted? Thanks. I've always been a fan of quads. I've had drag racing ones for the dunes, but nothing like your setup.

    • @AutoPilotMT
      @AutoPilotMT  Před 4 lety +3

      I wear a lot of layers hah being cold is miserable. I wear KLIM boots and snow pants. 509 helmet and goggles. I like north face coats because they have an internal layer I can unzip if I get to warm but anything to keep you warm and affordable works well. KLIM boots and snow Pants to me are the best we use them snowmobiling. Expansive brand but love some of their gear. I use 32 and 64GB memory cards mostly 64GB but the battery usually dies before I run out of memory. I shoot in 1080p to save on space. I mount it right on top of my 509 helmet. A lot of places you can mount on an ATV and body. Never been on a racing quad 😂 sounds fun!

    How does your belt hold up ? I’m contemplating on buying a 570 Sportsman as the “price is right” in lieu of a Grizzly or Kingquad. I know the Japanese quads are rock solid however I wanna believe the Polaris is on par. They make a ton of them and they have a great accessory and convenience factor. Looking for some feedback from a guy that’s apparently put the 850 through its paces. My use would be more personal and not commercial use.

    • @AutoPilotMT
      @AutoPilotMT  Před 5 lety +3

      Belt is doing great at 1,100 miles. For personal use the 570 Polaris should do the job just fine. I had a sportsman 570sp before the 850sp and it was a good personal use small plowing machine and did great up in the Mountains. Things I didn’t like about it was the shifter wasn’t as connected as the 850. The shifter was kinda lose and hard to find gears when plowing back and forth. The 850 is built more solid and everything just works more quality and is built better. But the 570 for the price there at is a very good machine for personal use. I used to like grizzly a lot when I was younger but I prefer the engines in Polaris for the price. I would drive each of them and see what you like. I love the updated 850 just because it can handle more with the engine and it’s a really comfortable machine to ride. The can am just didn’t feel right when I sat on it, love can am engines but I didn’t like the feel of standing up on the machine and the gear selector not being as fast when shifting. If you hop on a 850 then hope on a 570 you will be able to tell the quality difference right away, so I would recommend not hoping on a 850 cuz you’ll want one. Hopefully I answered your questions, let me know! Thanks chad6504.

      Auto Pilot I know what you are saying. I rode a Brute Force 750 and I was in love with that vtwin. I have a line on a manufacturer demo that was rode around at dealerships. Has 35 hours on it. I’m trying to keep the cost down right now and I found a 570 with the Polaris plow set up. It ain’t a BOSS but I can probably be okay around the house. My dad did commercial plowing for a living and he loves his Boss plows.

    • @AutoPilotMT
      @AutoPilotMT  Před 5 lety +1

      I think it would work really good for around the house. My only issue with the Polaris glacier plow was it falling off sometimes when I hit something hard being a quick attach plow. But if you tighten it well or bolt it on its a great plow for small stuff and around the house. Still use the 570 for some sidewalks and driveways because it fits and does a great job, just a little slower.

      @@AutoPilotMT Dam you did well then, maybe im not charging enough.... average lot I charge between 400 & 800 for the season. I have 11 lots and it takes me roughly 6.5-7 hours, I've calculated that I make 38$/hr (which seems reasonable) and in my contract it states i will come out every time 5cm of snow accumulates, which on average is 13 times a year (here in SW Ontario) so I base my contract costs on that number and the per plow cost multiplied. My total profit for the season is just shy of 6k (November 1st - March 7th). Those plows are 3-4k you would have to be making a minimum of 6k to pay it off in half the season. What do you charge per lot? Do you charge per plow or offer a seasonal rate? You seem like you've been doing this for a while so any advice is appreciated, thanks! - Riley | Hodds Landscaping & Snow Removal

    Not trying to be a turd but I would strongly suggest that an individual NOT push snow into the roadway or street because county and cities very on the fine any wear from 3 to 10 thousand dollars and if an accident occurs as a result of the snow being push, shoved or dumped in the road or street the property owner and snow service provider can and will be held liable if not by the individual the county and or city will for sure it’s best to put it in the yard because the plow operator MUST report it to the supervisor and will just push it right back off the road anyhow

    Your city lets you dump snow in the streets? Also why don't you measure the snow before you started plowing?

    • @AutoPilotMT
      @AutoPilotMT  Před 5 lety +2

      We push the snow where ever it needs to go in order to clear the sidewalks. Usually the city plow trucks plow some back on the sidewalk so by the end it’s usually stacked up directly on the curb. Not sure what other big city’s do or there regulations, not sure where els you would put it. As for measuring the snow I’ll measure in certain locations but most of the time it’s second nature after awhile to know how much has accumulated or fallen. I’ll also measure at different times during the day to keep track of snow fallen after leaving other lots to see if I might have to go back and plow the previous lots again depending upon minimum tolerances on continuous snow storms.

    @elicharlton6397 Před 5 lety +2

    I hate people who plow the paths.. it makes it so slippery. You get more grip with the snow..

    • @braedonphillips2617
      @braedonphillips2617 Před 4 lety +2

      No it's not the people who plows fault. The reason a path may become slippery after plowing can usually be due either to rain or some melted snow that became frozen creating a slippery sidewalk, however snow may come and cover the sidewalks before the small sheets of slippery like snow ice had a chance to melt before being snowed on. Most of the time major sidewalks and other areas of transportation will be cleared of the snow after a storm sometimes resulting in a slightly slippery pathway. Although for this reason it is best to wear good traction winter boots or buy a pair of metal gripper wires that attach to anny shoe or boot. I hope this helps you understanding and difuses some of the frustrations you have with snow being plowed

    • @AutoPilotMT
      @AutoPilotMT  Před 4 lety +1

      😂 not the plowers fault. We just get paid to do the work others need done in order to keep businesses running and keep them from having a liability on their hands. If the business wants to add salting the sidewalks into the contract that would help with the paths not being as slippery but most don’t want to pay for it. The more footsteps on the snow the worse the plow is able to cut a good path on the sidewalk. I see what your saying but we are just doing our jobs and trying to keep everyone safe. Can’t please everyone unfortunately. Also in most places the business or residence can get fined for not clearing pathways after a certain period of time after a snow storm.
